*GENUINE Pre Columbian Jade Axe God Pendant Figurine 6 – 7th Century Costa Rica
SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE* GENUINE Pre Columbian Jade Axe God Pendant Figurine 6th– 7th Century Mesoamerican Costa Rica This is a genuine Pre Columbian jade figure pendant. Commonly called an“axe god” because of the shape. Although all of these jade figures are rare today. This one is especially unusual due to the fact that it has defined legs instead of the more common“axe” bottom, although it still maintains the traditional taper of the standard axe shape when viewed for the side. The positioning of the arms, folded upwards on each side of the chest(as in later Pre-Columbian gold figures) is also less typical than the standard figures which usually place the arms parallel across the chest. Under magnification you can see supple tooling marks throughout the surface. The marks are typical of the time period and not perfectly ... moreparallel as modern tool marks are. The surface has a nice“soft” look. Again typical for an original Mesoamerican piece, unlike the often harsh cuts and sharp edges caused by modern tools and the overall lack of finesse that the original Pre Columbian artist were so skilled at achieving(although much of that look is due to the type of tools used at the time, which would make it difficult to achieve the harsh lines that are common on modern pieces, caved with modern tools) The right foot has what I think is a small chip. Although its edges aren’t rough or sharp so perhaps it’s just an imperfection that was in the stone and not completely carved away when it was made. You can see the“chip” in the last two photos at the bottom of the page. Other than that the piece is in good shape. The hand drilled suspension hole(generally drilled using bone or wood with an abrasive) has an accumulation of mineral deposits lining the inner walls. A typical sign of age. The use of jade in Costa Rica comes to an end about 500- 600 AD. When there was a cultural shift towards gold for use in luxury items. The overall style of this figure is typical of this period. It measures about 3

Well, technically you could say it is because it was manufactured during the Roman or Byzantine periods, but you see what I'm getting at. Nice lamp though. Just thought you should know.

ANCIENT PRE-COLUMBIAN JADE BEADS & ANCIENT SPANISH MEDALS ARTIFACT CLUSTER
This listing is for an ancient cluster of jade beads and a few Spanish medals. These items represent an early"contact" piece used by Spanish clerics sent to convert the indigenous peoples of Meso-America to make the conquest go smoother. I originally intended to sell these items piece by piece. But was advised that their value as an artifact was greater. The pieces were probably married in this fashion in the early 1600's. The individual beads and the silver pieces were old at the time this collection was assembled. The medallions and bells are smoothed and blackened with age which indicates they were gathered before the date of the cluster. The larger beads have conical holes from being hand drilled in the pre Columbian era. These greenstone beads are in a wide range of colors of jade with epidote. Chlorite and hornblende properties. ... moreThe blade bead and one of the larger jade beads seem to be of a higher quality of jade. There is also a variety of shapes. Including a blade bead, a long tubular centerpiece bead, rondels, wedges and one of a sort diamond shape as well as the round bead shape. The sizes range from almost a 1/4" to 2 1/4" in length. The value as an artifact to is leave tied in this way. several of the beads and the two bells are loose. But the rope type twine is still intact on most of the other pieces. The pieces seen to be looped in a way to indicate value and to able to remove an individual bead or loops of beads without destroying the cluster. Posted with the

The body of the piece was minimally shaped, likely to preserve every bit of the precious bright green jadeite. But the face is full of character and detail. Good ancient condition. This is a wonderful collector's piece. 21mm x 12.5mm. We combine shipping costs. All US Postal service fees have been increased. Pre-columbian VALDIVIA Black Ceramic Bowl Ecuador 3500-1800BC Rare Antiquity
In the pursuit of beauty through art and fine design from prehistory to modern times. Our mission is to offer quality and authenticity from the artistic human expression on unique items at an excellent price. This listing is for one Valdivia Ceramic Bowl The Valdivia culture arose in one of the most arid segments of the southern Ecuadorian coast. Mainly in the Santa Elena Peninsula. Although remains of the culture have also been found further inland. An archaeologist. Emilio Estrada, discovered the Valdivia culture in the year 1956 and it has been determined that it is one of the oldest cultures that can be found across the Americas. It was derived from the Las Vegas Culture. And Estrada was able to establish that this culture was alive between the years 3500 and 1800 BC in Ecuador. Archaeological discoveries assisted Estrada in making his ... moredeterminations through pottery and various other items discovered. When artifacts found on Kyushu Island in Japan were compared to those found in Ecuador. A theory emerged that there was trade between these two communities, however, this theory has not been proven beyond a doubt. This is a beautiful rustic ceramic bowl that shows an very early ceramic manifestation for its uneven thickness. The maker may have being an apprentice or a child; it is very interesting. The bowl has two small chips but it is in very good condition; it has not been totally clean; it will be up to the new owner to make that decision. It would be a very good addition to any collection. Sadly I am down sizing my collection and I have to let it go. We have included several photos in different angles for you to see. Valdivia Ceramic Bowl(Olla) 3.500-1,800 BC 4.3/4” diameter(12 cm) 2.3/4” tall(7 cm) Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you

RARE Pre Columbian Tlatilco Figure 1150 - 550 BC - Fresh Hawaii Estate Find
RARE Pre Columbian Tlatilco Figure 1150- 550 BC- Fresh Hawaii Estate Find This incredible figure comes fresh from a Hawaii Estate. It is a Pre Columbian Tlatilco figure that dated back to 1150- 550 BC. Comes with Museum mount and labelled VM 2934 with traces of original pigment. About Tlatilco( Wikipedia) Tlatilco was a large pre-Columbian village in the Valley of Mexico situated near the modern-day town of the same name in the Mexican Federal District. It was one of the first chiefdom centers to arise in the Valley. Flourishing on the western shore of Lake Texcoco during the Middle Pre-Classic period, between the years of 1200 BCE and 200 BCE. It gives its name to the"Tlatilco culture" which also included the town of Tlapacoya, on the eastern shore of Lake Chalco. Tlatilco is noted in particular for its high quality pottery pieces. ... moreMany featuring Olmec iconography, and its figurines, including Olmec-style baby-face figurines. Much else, however, seems to be in a native ceramic tradition. These Olmec-style artifacts have been led to speculation concerning the nature ofOlmec influence on other Mesoamerican cultures. The Tlatilco site was used in modern times as a source of clay for brick-making. By the 1930s. Many of the ancient artifacts thereby uncovered made their way into the hands of collectors, including Miguel Covarrubias, artist and ethnographer. Covarrubias led the first controlled excavation in 1942. By 1949, over 200 burials were identified at Tlatilco, leading to its categorisation as a necropolis. Two major archaeological excavations followed, with over 500 burials eventually identified, many with intact grave offerings. The last field season also undertook a systematic survey of non-burial structures, leading to the realization that these hundreds of burials were apparently located under ancient houses- although no traces of them remain- as well as among the various trash pits, and that Tlatilco was not a necropolis, but rather a major chiefdom center. Many burials. Primarily of high sta

"DIQUIS COSTA RICAN COLOMBIAN EAGLE PENDANT AND NECKLACE SILVER PRE COLUMBIAN?"
DIQUIS COSTA RICAN COLOMBIAN EAGLE PENDANT AND NECKLACE SILVER PRE COLUMBIAN? Seems in good shape could be very very old. Has some dings and scratches surface wear but these all could be from the maker. This is very hand made the chain is a hook loop and there is link that has come loose from the end loop. You can see it in the pictures. I did test the metal and it is silver but I think its better than 925 but I cant be sure how pure. I could say that it needs a cleaning but I just cant clean it. I dont want to damage the patina especially if this is that old. Please see pictures for condition. I would like to know more about this if anyone out there has more information they would like to share I would really like that. There is a small silver ball inside the pendant where the chain connects and it does have a small jingle to it when you ... moreshake it. That leaves me to believe it is a dancers pendant. I cant be sure of the age of this item or even where it was made. My research has turned up the information above. It could belong in a museum. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you for bidding! Check out my! Be sure to add me to your! On Mar-31-13 at 21:12:30 PDT. Seller added the following information:

Pre-Columbian Anasazi Redware Pottery Pot w/Restoration
Questions? Call us: 1-877-328-9236. Pre-Columbian Anasazi Redware Pottery Pot w/Restoration. Manufacturer: Anasazi Model: N/A Condition: Used Price: The photos show the exact item(s) the buyer will receive. Manufacturer: Anasazi Condition: Used. A small portion of the top lip of the pot was restored by the previous owner(see photos) But it is over 75 percent intact. Even with the pieces that have been lost in antiquity, it still has a nice, well-formed"feel" when held in both hands. The overall slip is orange-red with some black- which would have been caused by oxidation during the firing process. We believe it to be either Early Pueblo Lino Fugitive Red(550 A.D. 800 A.D. Or Abajo Red-on-Orange(700 A.D. 900 A.D. based on the form and slip. The small square of Zapotec Indian tapestry shown in the photos is included for display purposes ... moreonly, and is not related to this Anasazi piece. Serious inquiries only please.
