1800's Antique Pie Safe - Primitive Cupboard - Crude & Hand Crafted
1800's Antique Pie Safe- Primitive Cupboard- Crude& Hand Crafted Primitive Early American hand-sawed Pie Safe. Cupboard or jelly cabinet. This Pie Safe stands about 4.25 feet Tall and 5 feet Wide and 16" Deep. It's clear to see that it was originally made in the 1800's before the use of electric circular saws. Veneers and machined nails. All the original parts are very crude, though the maker certainly built this beauty to last a long time. The entire top is one big solid piece of wood. Not boards. That's a 5 foot long and 16" wide board cut from a single tree! I'm not sure what kind of wood was used. But I think maybe Walnut or Oak. You can easily see the years of wear in the wood and exceptional patina. Even the door knobs and latches were hand-made from wood, though the screws to keep them in place have ... morebeen replaced at some point during later years. This was made to be VERY sturdy, unlike furniture made commercially. This is an awesome Early American piece and is ready to display or use as a cupboard for just about anything. This is a very heavy piece. It requires special care to move. It has only been moved twice since originally crafted at an estate near Howell. MI. I'm no furniture expert. But there are definitely signs that there were repairs and/or upgrades made to this piece in later years without distracting too much from the original handiwork. And the glass is not original to this piece, though two of the glass panes appear to be earlier 1900's. This piece was likely originally crafted for storing food safely away from bugs and cooling fresh baked goods, with tin sheets(in place of the glass) with designs created by a series of hand-punched holes. ANTIQUE TIN BREAD AND CAKE BOX Here is an authentic antique tin bread and cake box from the 1880's with loads of character and charm. It is made by CARCO which is stamped into the metal on the top of the box. The tin has a wood grain design on all sides. There is one perforated shelf on the interior and vent holes on the sides. The original lettering is on the door surrounded on all four sides with a decorative border. The door is attached with two metal hinges and a working metal lock. The knob is loose. But still works to safely lock the box. There are scratches, scrapes and dings commensurate with its age. Pine is very nice condition with a few nice knots and many worm marks that adds to the rustic look. Very nice wide button feet in front with square pegs in back. Appears to be completely original hardware with hand turned knobs and dove tailed joins. Condition is excellent for age with a small hole drilled in the back for pass through of electrical cords(was used as a bedroom entertainment cabinet) Has skeleton key lock that works well. Made by a gentleman in rural North Carolina who takes old wood, refinishes it and makes it into furniture. Much detail. Shelves inside. This is a very special. Early, pie safe from North carolina. Pie safe has punched tin screens on the sides and on the doors. Unique in size, pie safe measures 37" wide 17" deep 50 1/2" high. This piece is in good condition for its age and stands very sturdy. The top has two metal pieces covering up holes in the top where the knotted wood must have fallen out. As can be seen in the picture, this pie safe has good wear to it making it a desirable primitive piece. Item is free of oder and comes from a clean and smoke free home. American Pie Safe circa 1870, RARE configuration
Amazing piece of Americana that has been completely refinished and restored. It is Very RARE to find a pie safe built in this configuration with the pie safe portion on the bottom. This alone makes it a real collector's piece and very valuable. Found in Marshall. Minnesota over 40 years ago. It came from an old prairie homestead. It is constructed in two pieces and is quite large. It was probably used as a pie safe and storage for utensils and cooking items. It has the old hand forged square headed nails and hand forged screws in it's construction. The tin pierced metal panels show some bowing on the bottom of the panels and they have the classic circle and quarter circle patterns. The majority of the wood used is pine. I refinished it 40 years ago adding two small wood strips to the shelves in the upper piece to display dishes. It ... morehas been in my family all this time. I recently refinished it again using a Min-Wax poly coating and it has a soft sheen. It has refinished beautifully. T o soften the sheen even more you could use 0000 steel wool. Thanks for looking. Antigue Pie Safe
Early American punched tin pie safe. This piece is about 39 inches wide. 4 feet 6 inches tall and about 14 inches deep. The sides, top, and shelves are all composed of single boards from 13 inches to 11 inches wide. The punched tin is in very good condition- no rust and firmly mounted in each of the double doors. Nice detailing on the bottom feet on each end. The pie safe is well put together with square nails and finger joints in the top drawer. It appears to have originally painted but since has bee refinished.

We are pleased to offer this BEAUTIFUL. Antique to older vintage, handcrafted, wood(pine) cabinet. We recently purchased this gorgeous piece from the sister-in-law of the gentleman who constructed and carved this unique piece. The cabinet, originally a custom made pie safe, pastry shelf and cake/cookie display, was made to specifications for a old, local restaurant. The restaurant has been closed for over 20 years and the cabinet is around 40 years old. The cabinet is solid pine(no veneers) and features VERY THICK, hand made lattice, shelves and doors. Because it housed pastries, it has been hand chiseled on each end/side panel with the most unique depictions of cookies, cakes and doughnuts. There is a gingerbread man, a rocking horse as well as a birthday cake, and cookies in the shape of a moon and star. The carvings are deep and have texture ... morefor an even greater visual appeal. The cabinet is trimmed with arched insets on each panel and the top has a carved egg and dart trim around the entire perimeter. The cabinet features 5 doors and 20 shelved areas. There are two large lattice doors, one on each end. Each of the lattice doors conceals 3 shelf spaces. There are two solid doors next to the lattice. These are smaller in height and there are 3 shelf areas behind them as well. The center door is the smallest and houses 2 shelved areas. The solid doors have been trimmed to resemble drawers. The cabinet door pulls are white porcelain with a flat attachment screw in the center. Under the solid door areas are open shelved spaces. THE UNIT IS TWO SIDED so the back is open. Early Vintage Southern Antique Pie Safe Very Nice
This is a beautiful vintage Pie Safe that has a very nice patina and rich colors. Along the way there has been some repairs and wear. But all adds great character and richness to the cabinet. There has been an older repair to one leg, and some point-in-time the hinges were moved, likely from wearing-out the screw holes from years of use. There is wood missing from the bottom of one leg, but this does not affect the stability as this is a very sturdy cabinet that could easily hold 100 lbs or more. There are three shelves inside which are also very sturdy. Some nails that hold the tin on are loose as expected. The punched tin shows a very nice patina as well. PAT'D 1907; this Toledo stove top cooker is in VGC. The bottom has had the copper bottom redone. Inside and out in this is a great find for your collection. Antique Pie or Bread Safe with Decoration
Here is a neat old pie safe with fruit decoration. The safe is metal. With turnkey latch for closure. The overall condition is primitive with soiling and denting as seen in the pictures. The measurements are 12.5 in. long x 11.5 in. high and 12 in. front to back.

For sale is a grandma's primitive antique pie or bread safe with the original removable shelves. It is galvanized steel and has been painted white and is quite chipped(see pictures) The door has a clip closure and both the closure and the hinges work well.
