Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. This is an antique American oak bookcase with original(wavy) glass. The piece probably dates to the early 1900s. Mostly quarter sawn oak with area on front edge in veneer. Fair to good condition; some veneer has peeled off. Piece was refinished once previously. Four shelves. Antique metal brackets/pegs for 2 shelves(9 pegs) Adjustable holes in bookcase. Note that this item is safe in climate controlled storage. Also note that the glass has some tape on it; the large specks in the photos are not damage. Lock hole is there. But there is no lock or handle at present. This is a sturdy piece. I have had it loaded with books before. You could also use it as a display case. Antique Tiger Oak 1-Drawer Desk/Table with Brass Pulls
This is a beautiful little tiger oak mission-style table I bought at a local estate sale last summer. It doesn't quite fit in the place I was hoping it would. And that is why I am offering it up for auction. It Measures 29" high x 29" wide x 21 1/2" deep. It is a sweet little table that had been in one family throughout its history according to the lady I bought it from. It does have its character flaws(which just adds to its charm! The dove-tailed drawer features the original brass(I think) pulls, but it is broken. The back of the drawer is completely gone and one side of it is cracked toward the back. It looks to me like it was dropped on a corner. The top is a solid piece of wood, and has a slight warp to it. The finish is in good condition, and there are a couple of small dings to the legs. Here is a wonderful early to mid-twentieth century carved dark oak corner cabinet. Imported from the UK through Edinburgh and ready for use in your home or place of business today. This sweet cabinet stands 68 inches tall and measures 29 inches wide across the front. The distance from the front center of the cabinet straight back to the corner is 28 inches, with each of the side walls measuring 19 inches back to the corner. The top section of the cabinet is 38 inches tall with the base and two additional removable shelves which when in place offer about 11 inches of clearance above each and closer to 14 inches above the top shelf. Antique Library card catalog. Made by the Library Bureau Sole Makers Company. Made of oak. Appears to have never been refinished. Shows years of loving wear. Please see all the pictures for a better idea of condition. There are 3 drawers with 6 areas for cards. The drawers are unlike most cabinets and are open rather than seperated into cubbies. This actually makes it much more usefull than most other cabinets. Only one drawer still retains the inside hardware. All drawers retyain the original outside hardware. One very interesting thing about this cabinet are the hand holds that were carved into the sides. This cabinet was apparently moved alot so the hand holds were added after production to aid in moving the cabinet. Normally I would say this would hurt the value but in this case they were probably added around 100 years ago and I feel ... morethis actually makes it even more interesting. I wish I knew the story of why they were added. Possibly a portable library. Think about it. This is another wonderful. OLD antique oak 4 drawer file cabinet. It is the rare 3/4 size, measuring only 15 inches wide, 27 1/2 inches deep and standing 52 inches tall. This is the only file cabinet with the smaller width I have ever had, most are the legal size 21 inches wide, The maker is unknown, but is built similar to a Hertzog cabinet I sold a while ago where it sits on a sliding shelf that comes half way out to support the drawer as shown. The wood used on this bookcase is oak which has developed a lovely patina over the years. The top section has Corsica glass in it which adds a unique look to the piece. Nice old piece of Red Cross History here. Some nice old leather finger splint covers and some other remedies in there like mustard plaster. New skin, and some gauze. The box is exceptional and should be worth quite a bit. The box is solid and the hindges are in great shape. The book is on the inside cover like the day it was made in 1906. I get a laugh out of the picture on the cover of the book. Some lady in her old dust ruffle clothing and the old timer jumping up out of their chair to care for a lifeless body being brought in for help. Thank you Red Cross! as then known as Recrosco.

Incredible find! Antique clothing showcase, tiger oak Grand Rapids 12 available
This fabulous antique showcase was patented in 19 05 by the Grand Rapids Showcase company. It is seriously constructed of tiger oak and has the or iginal wavy glass. The one pictured was part of a seri es of twelve matching cabinets that were connected side by side next to each other. Hence the sides are open since they are butted up to the side of the one next to it. The one in the first several pictures has the side panels. The rest are as the on in the last four pictures with no sides. Nice vintage oak paneling or glass can be added to the sides if you would l ike to use one as an individual unit. The glass door of each opens out and s lides into the cabinet on the right hand side. Much like a folding door. The back of each cabinet is bead board with the original finish. Great patina! Antique Oak Spool/Thread Cabinet Goff's Best Braid 3 Drawer Case/Chest
Size is 17" wide by 18" deep at the base. 17 5/8" wide by 18 1/8" deep at the top. 11" tall. It is missing 1 small decorative block on the front left side top and a narrow 3/16" wide strip at the right rear edge. That strip would be an easy to find replacement as they used the same strips to hold in backs of mirrors and glass in doors of cabinets. I don't know if the dropped drawer pulls are original or not but were on it when I bought the cabinet out of an estate 20 years ago. Drawers are sound and solid and finger jointed all around. The lettering on the front drawers is on tin. Finish,lettering and advertising on the rear look all original to me. It is solid oak-not veneer. Not perfect but a nice chest. It has very pretty Barley Twist post with a caned shelf. It has a"spool" stretcher base to stabilize the unit. This is a True Arts& Craft Era item at it's best.
