The Cambodian Khmer Empire was the dominant force in south-east Asia from the 9th-15th century. Holding sway over large parts of modern-day Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Throughout my travels and collecting of unusual relics. I have not encountered anything remotely close to this museum quality piece. The chalice has(6) deeply carved faces depicting the Norse God Loki. The piece measures from the bottom to the top face is( 6.5" with an inside diameter of(3" There are no names or identifying markings however, where the base attaches to the collum containing the faces is secured with a(square) wooden peg. This hand cannon from what I FOUND out c1650-1700 from China or Mongolia but Im not a expert. The piece has a hand forged. Nine barrel Iron Head of about of about 10" length for 18th Century battle use. Outstanding example features nine barrels of about.36 caliber by 3 1/2" length securely affixed via stacked, horizontal bands around a center piece& welded into place at top& bottom as well as sides with flared, quad-sided muzzle.See Photos) ... moreEach barrel was individually loaded and fused via touch hole at back end of this primitive, asiatic Revolver of course, and could be individually lit off via a quick-match or punk as the pole mounted gun was spun in the hand with pole under the arm. The fuse holes can clearly be seen at the back end where the"octopus" re-enforcement fingers are welded to the base of each barrel to prevent rearward motion. This unusual Revolving Cannon has of course taken on a very dark& grainy, though smooth, patina from almost two Centuries. The Muzzle shows some flaking& deterioration of the quad-sided front edges from salt air& gunpowder resaidue accellerated corrosion. but overall this piece and all barrels are still a virtual mono-block as originally made back in the early 1800s era, and we've no doubt it could be loaded& fired, though it;s proper place is of course on display. A beautiful. Large Medieval Ming dynasty era plate, officially recorded and from the famous Hoi An hoard and dating to the mid 15th Century A.D. This Ming Dynasty artifact. Somewhere between a plate and bowl in form, was likely used for serving and represents one of the most desirable ceramic types known from the Hoi An wreck. Of Vietnamese stoneware, the large, heavy plate is beautifully and confidently painted in blue on white under a thin glaze. The inner surface is decorated with a striking blossoming peony flower, depicted amongst scrolling leaves. The sloping surface, or cavetto, is decorated with interspersed flower heads and double-leaf sprays. The exterior surface is decorated with upright lappets(decorative folds) containing swirled pendants. The base of the vessel is left unglazed and adorned with cafe au lait slip. Hello, Here's a great trio lot.A genuine antique gothic candlestick.A real pewter vintage tankard and a rare quantock design jug. Each piece in their own right are collectable but as a threesome a real find and bargain. The candlestick is a one off you won't find another in the original gothic style. I haven't cleaned it that's up to whoever wins, but i think they look best left with the patina of age. It has very intricate detailing, very ornate. The pewter tankard is stamped Sheffield England on the underside and has a letter B. It has no dents or dings and has a glass bottom so whoever was drinking could see who was approaching through the looking glass. The jug is quite magnificent. With raised detailing of a rampant lion, this was also made in Somerset England and is a rare find. and as we all know nothing is made in ... moreEngland anymore.
