I am no expert on Chinese porcelain. But bought this as it looked very nice. I am not sure the exact age, but possibly some experts in Chinese porcelain may know and if you do wish to share your knowledge then I’d be only to happy to hear from you. The marks on the base are as shown in the photos. The vase or jar has been superbly decorated in a dark blue on white with little flowers and other foliage. There are also two cartouches or panels both showing a figure holding something. Standing before a larger bearded figure, possibly an elder who is standing under the branch of a tree. The vase or jar is hand decorated in blue with oriental scenes and displayed beautifully. It measures in at approx 5” in height and 2 ¾” across the widest part of the body and the base is approx 2” edge to edge. Condition: The jar is old and has some age related wear. Also some discoloration inside at the bottom. This wear is in the form of little glaze nibbles around the foot rim/ base. Around the foot rim/ base there is also some black material fused to the foot-rim which could be ash or similar from the time of firing. There is also a tight hairline to the upper rim edge, which runs down the neck area, this I have tried to photograph. To the rim edge there is also a tiny little fleabite chip or possibly a firing imperfection which is barely noticeable. The base also has some old black ash or similar stuck to it from the time of firing. Still a fine example of Chinese Kangxi porcelain that displays well. A stunning example. Lovely little Kangxi period Imari cup with handle. Probably early 1700s. The cup has been very nicely riveted at some stage(please see photos) so obviously there has been a crack. There are also nibbles to the rim. It also has some faint crazing. There is also a very faint hairline opposite the crack. It stands 2 3/4" high and is 2 1/2" diameter without handle. It measures approx 4cm tall x 9.5cm in diameter. I am not sure of the exact age of this dish as it does not have any mark ings, believe it could possibl y be from the Kangxi or Qianlong period, but i no t know for sure. Sadly there is a chipped area of the rim of the dish& is no longer pre sent. So would be an ideal restoration pro ject. As there is no other damage or rest oration to this footed dish. The charger is exquisitely painted with strong pure tones of sapphire blue which vary in strength, the dish features a scene from the story of Xixiang Ji otherwise known as Romance of the Western Chamber also known as‘The Story of the Western Wing’ which is an opera written by Wang Shifu in the 13thC, which was revived in popularity in the 17thC. The figural and temple/ pagoda scene is framed within a diaper border as shown and has an immortal emblem framed within double blue concentric circles to the reverse as pictured. 1600s - 1700s Antique Chinese Imari Plate KangXi Yongzheng Export Famille Rose
Late 1600s or Early 1700s Antique 9 1/8" Chinese Imari Plate in Traditional Landscape Painting Pattern of late KangXi(K'ang Hsi) or Yongzheng(Yung Cheng) period I am in the process of re-aligning my collection. In the coming weeks, I will list some fine items from Germany. France, England, China, and Japan. So stay tuned! Up for your consideration is: One antique 9 1/8" Chinese Imari plate in traditional landscape painting pattern. Dated to late 1600s or early 1700s. On its smooth and white porcelain body the plate is decorated with a surreal scene(possibly borrowed from traditional Chinese painting on scrolls) of houses and pagodas situated within mountains. River, rocks, trees, and bushes in the center, and a spray of auspicious flowers and fruits(typical of Kangxi period) along the rim. The pattern is hand painted in under-glaze ... morecobalt blue and over-glaze iron red and gold. This is one of the finest Chinese Imari Plates I have ever seen. Not just because of its complex design but also because of its beautiful execution. Compared with a Chinese blue-and-white plate of Nanking Cargo(c 1751) sold by British auction house"Swords Fine Art Auctioneers" on April 23rd, 2013 for $1,476(see photo) this plate is clearly superior in every way from artistic quality to manufacturing. Such perfection in Chinese Imari production was only possible by skilled workers in JingDeZhen during late 1600s or early 1700s(i.e. late KangXi(K'ang Hsi) or Yongzheng(Yung Cheng) period) Before this brief period, the skills and techniques were yet available. And after the period, well, you have seen the pieces from Nanking Cargo(c 1751) right? The plate is 9 1/8" in diameter. And 15/16" in height. There is no crack or repair. A FINE & RARE FAMILLE VERTE ENAMELED CORALGROUND BOWL QING KANGXI SIGNED 19thC?
A beautiful coral red ground famille verte bowl. This is a rare beauty with enameled and detailed flowers that was a real delight to photograph in natural sunlight. The coral ground paint is a rich luxurious orange-red with a shine to it. When we began to research online to price it we found a similar bowl that sold with another bowl at Christies. I pasted that description below. The coral glaze covers the foot rim as does the one we found online and the Kangxi mark is painted on in over-glaze blue enamel. This bowl has not been valuated by the specialists at Bonhams yet. It is open to discussion as to if this of the period as we feel as far as we can study the mark overglaze blue enamel mark it is an exquisite example but probably made in Republic Period. We see most marked and of the period are marked in pure underglaze hand painted blue ... morenot in overglaze emamel. the mark is hand painted and matches the blue in the blue flowers. however. We could be wrong as we do see one haveing been sold at Christies May 27th 2009 with a ruby enamel overglaze mark. Overall this is a very( to quote Christies) Fine and Rare" bowl. Kangxi 6-character Mark on Rare Blue & White Porcelain Compote
Kangxi 6-character Mark on Blue& White Porcelain Compote 3.25" H x 4.5" Diam. On the top surface of the compote is a delicately painted scene of 3 people. A child, and a deer under a pine tree. Two of the figures may be Shou. The god of longevity, holding his staff and accompanied by his deer, and the god of wealth and prosperity, Cai Shen, in his distinctive hat. Decorative bands made of very fine curving lines are found just inside the top rim and around the slight bulge near the top of the tall compote stand pedestal; the designs incorporate vine. Scroll, and ruyi motifs. Alternating upright small and large banana leaves surround the bottom of the pedestal just above two thin encircling horizontal lines and a white bottom. A calligraphic 6-character Kangxi emperor mark is painted in one row inside near the bottom of the hollow ... morepedestal. Excellent condition. Only the few normal scratches.
