NICE JAPANESE ARMY OFFICER SWORD WAKIZASHI
This is a nice example of an old mounted Wakizashi Sword Blade which dates from the Shinto Era and was most likely carried by a Pilot or possibly a Tank Commander during the War. It is mounted with an old hand-forged blade that wears a cutting edge of 17 5/8 inches in length. The blade remains in nice condition boasting a beautiful wavy active temper line that extends to the tip on either side however. The cutting edge reflects some abuse with multiple nicks and a reshaping of the extreme tip. The tang is unsigned and wears only one hole. The lovely hilt remains very healthy and is enhanced with gorgeous, detailed fittings. The old wooden scabbard is leather combat covered and does remain in nice serviceable condition with only some wear at the very tip. Up for bid what could be a very old Japanese Samurai sword in"wooden carrier" WW2 or maybe older The blade is in very good condition some light spotting The blade locks into the case very firm and tight and is sharp. I will not try to remove the blade to check it for maker marks as requested I would be very surprised if there were none though The tip of the" wooden carrier" has a forged what looks like bronze tip see pictures. The wood is light weight I previously listed the sword as a walking stick and ebay knocked it off so this is not a walking stick I would say it is a"wooden carrier" or storage case for the blade. I have seen disguised fan knives from the mid 1800s this could be similar to that. Japanese antique sword - KATSUMITSU signed KOTO WAKIZASHI - 600 years old.
DESCRIPTION: Antique Japanese sword WAKIZASHI with Black lacquer saya. The blade is a KOTO period blade. Late possibly late MUROMACHI(around 1555-1600) The saya is black lacquer with kurikata. It is in a good condition. Probably made in late EDO or early Showa period. The tsuka is made with original ray skin with green ito. The fittings. Fuchi. Kashira and menuki are probably 19th century. The nakago has signature MEI: KATSUMITSU. It seems the nakago has been polished. According to sword dictionary. Katsumitsu swordsmiths were in Kaga( Ishikawa prefecture) and Bizen(Okayama prefecture) Katsumitsu of Kaga is for TENSHO(about 475 yrs ago) and lank is $ 45000. Katsumitsu of Bizen is for Eikyo(about 578 yrs ago) and Tenmon(about 475 yrs ago) and lank is $ 78000-$90000. The blade has a typical shinogi-zukuri shape and is in overall very good condition. ... moreNo kizu or cracks, little rust, the blade has been polished in Japan and has hadori polishing and it's partially covering the hamon. The blade is signed"Kokura Rikugun Zouheisho 小倉陸軍造兵廠" dated"Showa Jukyu-nen Juichi-gatsu(Nov. 1944) 昭和十九年十一月" Shinogi-zukuri shape. WWll time period made blade and there is serial number 2 stamped on top of the tang. The blade is tarditional hand forged, water uinched Gendaito, in original polish, no rust, no staine and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy notare with ji-nie(christal) active temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend. No nicks, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. Japanese Samurai Katana Sword from 1789 w/ Documentation
Japan ese Katana Samurai sword for sale. I am not a sword expert by any means. But this is what I know. The sword was brought to the US by Captain Raym ond Tyler after WWII. He was the commanding officer of the Navys lighter than air division. He was somehow in charge at some point on I wo Jima when the operation was phasin g out. There is a picture included of Captain Tyler sitting next to President Eisenhower on the lower left. The sword was sent to Dr. Walter Compton at Miles Lab oratories for identification. I have included the original paper showing the transl ations. There are many nice pieces to this sword. Let the pictures be your guide to the condition. The handle covering is missing the bolt or rivet that was there originally. So there is a piece of bamboo holding it in place.
