For your consideration. We have an original Japanese Katana sword from World War II. This was a combat sword. It has a wooden sheath wrapped in leather and a hand forged blade. The blade is in overall great condition the hamon line is visible. The blade is a bit loose in the handle which can be fixed. The tsuba is also loose which also can be fixed. I do not have the tools at this time to disassemble the blade to see what is under the handle. The sword shows some wear which is natural for the age. The end cap on the handle may be a replacement. This is a Japanese Tachi sword in honzukuri mountings. The blade is unknown. Shinogi-zukuri shape, I guess Kamakura period(1288-1338 era) made Soshu school blade. The blade is in old full polish. Shows tiny scratches on surface but no stain, no rust and in very good condition. The temper line is wavy Midare with Ko-nie temper pattern and maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight Itame-hada with Chikei and no forging flaws at all. The scabbard is urush and gold lacquered wood scabbard. Shows minor lacquer loss and in very good condition. The handle wrapp is old wrapping. Tight fit with gold& silver inlay copper fuchi with family crest/ Tokin copper kashira with matched Cherry blossom shakudo menukis. Up for auction is a great old Japanese samurai sword katana scabbard handle and matching manukie fittings. The handle or tsuka is in very nice condition it has a nice tight wrap with dragon manukies. The manukies are in very nice shape they have nice detail with gold finish. The scabbard has a neat wave pattern its black laquer and has a old iron dragon fly cap on the bottom of the scabbard. The cap is matching with the Fuchi Kashira on the handle. The scabbard has been split but most of its there. The scabbard measures 30 inches without the curve and handle measure 9 5/8 inches. Antique Japanese WWII Era Katana sword signed
Up for auction is what I believe to be an extremely OLD Japanese Katana sword. Purchased from an estate sale. And from the very limited research I've done, I've been led to believe that due to its configuration, and the signature on the tang, that it could date back several hundred years, and that it came back with a solider from WWII. This is a beautiful piece, very little rust, and the handle has been wrapped in rawhide at some point in its journey. Other than that I don't know a lot about these, I'm hoping that the photos provided will compensate for any descriptive shortcomings on my part. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi or maezashi dagger in mountings. The blade is unsigned. Very unique kanmuri-otoshi shape. Muromachi period ca.1500 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches on surface but no rust and in good condition. The temper line is attractive wavy notare temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no forging flaws at all. This is a Japanese sword in shirosaya mountings. The blade is signed"Bishu Osafune ju Sukesada 備州長船住祐定" Shinogi-zukuri with koshi-hi(engravings) shape. Seems to be muromachi period ca 1550 era made koto blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain, no scratch and in Excellent condition. The temper line is deep wavy chu-suguba with choji temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep kaen(fire flame) temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no forging flaw at all. It is not much polish down since it was made and in very healthy condition. The blade is mounted in old ho-wood shirasaya mountings. No dent, no crack and in excellent condition. The blade is signed"Oite Bushu Kasumigaseki Higuchi Yasunori 於 武州霞関樋口安則" dated Bunka Juni-nen Hachigatsu hi 文化十二年八月日(a day August ca.1815) Shinogi-zukuri shape. Edo period made blade. The blade is out of polish, shows light rust on surface but no deep rust and small nicks in cutting edge. The temper line is straight temper throughout the blade and has ko-maru temper at the point. The forging grain not visible but no forging flaws. It is rested in old scabbard shows aged wear and need restration. The handle also aged wear. With iron kashira and no other metal fittings. I have a japanese samurai sword wakizashi with 18 inch blade and documentation. the blade has some spots of surface crust. Not pitted or deep, it will clean off easy, i wiped a small area and it cleaned fine, i just dont want to touch the rest and leave it up to the discretion of the buyer. the letter is from the clasical arts centre dates 2002 and speaks of its quality guarenteed and it dates it 130-150 years old. puts it about 1860. these early swords are hard to find. even though this is chinese origin this sword is made excellent and of top quality. hard to find these old swords with any letters stamped and sealed like this one. cheers

Japanese wakizashi sword handle and fittings, 19th century
Sword handle with accompanying parts for wakizashi sword. A rather plain'working-model' piece. It is nevertheless highlighted with gold and silver work. The sword guard/ tsuba(and other fittings) is of an unembellished metal. Most likely shakudo which is a combination of copper and gold: 96-90% copper 4-10% gold. The handle-grip ornament/ menuki is of 14c gold and depicts a shishi(his back leg is a bit crushed) Unfortuntately only one remains. The right side one long gone. The butt cap/ kashira is of undecorated metal while the grip’s metal sleeve/ fuchi is ornamented all'round with a design of plum blossoms with bamboo underneath formed in gold and silver. The two spacers/ seppa are plain metal covered in a thick 14c gold foil. The scabbard sleeve/ habaki is composed of silver over a metal core and depicts Mt. Fuji rising above ... moreclouds. I’m guess-timating the piece dates from the late 18th ~ first half of the 19th century. It is in good condition with age appropriate wear and tear. Shipping is complimentary within the United States. Original Antique Japanese Kyu-Gunto Naval Officers Sword w. Scabbard
Here is neat original Japanese Sword that I just got in a small collection. This one is of the Kyu-gunto type for a Japanese Naval Officer. This one is interesting in that it has a Leather scabbard(no shell) Look to be brass fittings. Handle' s wrap skin and wire fully intact. Blade is bright with no flaking or improper care. Handle is slightly loose. Not sure of you could tighten it up. Once I get these I may wipe the blade, otherwise I do as little as possible. Scabbard has a few small cracks, there is one that makes the scabbard a little weak. This crack is shown in the 7th photograph. Carefull removal of scabbard on a flat surface will keep this from worsening. This is very typical of all leather scabbards. No indication of shrikage. Over all a nice example of this type of sword.
