This is a copper bowl tasht with wide flaring rim. Giving the item the appearance of an open flower. Simple decorative motifs to inner rim. Estate find, is Islamic and from the Middle East, perhaps, Damascus or Aleppo Syria, or even Turkey. The pot is of an impressive size. It is hand hammered copper. With a nice layering of enamel. Around the sides are three medallions, which contain an inscription, perhaps, a story is being told, or maybe these are verses from the Koran, in any event, they look to be written in Arabic Kufic. I would say the condition is remarkable. For its age, as I think this dates to somewhere in the early 1800's? However. It is not without damage. Some of the enameling is missing. This listing is for Antique Persian/ Turkish/ Islamic Bird Figure/ ink well- pen rest? Hand shaped and glazed over clay pottery. Most Probably Persian in Origin but could be from Turkey or other surrounding countries/ Areas Not Sure of the purpose. Possibly an incense burner. The Previous owner used it as a candle stick as there is red was residue inside. Could be an ink well as it has a rest/indentation for what could be a pen. 19th Century or earlier in my opinion. Has the look and feel of Quajar Period Persian Pottery Tiles and such. Simple and elegant design and hand work. Hand created and hand painted and enameled and primitively glazed over. cobalt blues. Dark green, aubergine/ purple, and black detailing on a white ground. 6 inches in length. 3 1/4 inches widest, 4 1/2 inches tallest. Footed. Unsigned. Terra Cotta Base It looks as ... morethough it has been shattered and very delicately and professionally restored. It is done so well that it is very hard to detect. If it wasn't because traces of adhesive in the open spaces. It would be very hard to determine that it was in fact restored. There are 3 pieces missing, all negligible for what the item is and just add character to it. The person that has done so definitely is a professional restorer and has done museum quality work.
