$11.60 Shipping Location: Marine, United States I am offering this exquisite chased covered bowl or pot. With the lid on. It is 5 1/2 inches tall including the height of the handle. The bowl is 3 1/2 ... moreinches tall and 7 inches in diameter at the top widening to 8 1/4 inches at the bottom. I think it is tin over the copper but I'm not 100% certain- it could be silvered copper. It actually looks like pewter over copper having a very warm, rich patina. It is not marked or signed and I'm not 100% certain of its origins but I highly suspect it to be Middle Eastern and probably Persian or Islamic. I also do not know its age- whether it is antique or vintage. The chased design is very intricate and lovely with some animal and birds incorporated into the pattern. The stylized animals on the bowl look like gazelle or antelope and a tiger. On the lid, there are some that look like gazelle, birds and some sort of spotted animal. Some of the design, in the area one inch below the rim, might be writing. Regarding condition, there is finish wear, some small dings and dents. I have included a picture of the more noticeable dent that is on the bottom- it's about 3 to 3 1/2 inches away from the center of the bottom. I used my picture program to draw a circle around the area so you can identify it with ease. Overall, it is outstanding and gorgeous! ANTIQUE FINE COTTON IKAT TEXTILE HANGING PERSIAN IRAN 19th CENTURY COTTON IKAT HANGING This is an extroadinary example of cotton ikat weaving.It is rare to find a complex ikat design on cotton so fine. One wonders at the patience of the dyer/weaver. It was made in Yadz. Esfahan Province and is believed to be late 19th century. As is to be expected with such a fine and old piece it is fragile. A lot of the wear. Small holes and tears, is along the top, bottom and sides where it was joined to a lining, now removed. See the image which shows the join where the lining was attached. There is also some wear in the central part of the hanging, which is two lengths joined down the middle. I would estimate the piece to be 80% good and in spite of its problems to be a very desirable addition to a textile lover's collection. The coin shows the date clearly as 1187 AH. Which is Abdul Hamid's accession date to the throne. This coin is one of the first coin where a number was used on the reverse to suggest the actual date of striking. References: It is KM 127 and is listed in Kazan as 841 and is listed in Lane Poole's Catalog of the Khedivial Collection as 1767. Condition: I would grade this coin as about uncirculated with most of its original mint luster remaining. And a well centered and bold strike. The calligraphy is very readable and is all there.
