Middle East Persian Islamic Silver Vase. 6" Offered here is a Middle Eastern. Probably Persian, Islamic vase 6” tall. The touch mark or hallmark, if in fact that is what it is, appears to be from what is present day Iran. About all I know is that this vase was purchased in Iran in the mid to late 1940’s. Actual age is unknown. The only mark that appears on the underside of the vase is shown in the last photo. This does not appear to be plated on copper or other metal. He was a son of Sultan(1703–30) and succeeded by his brother(1774–89) Born in. An energetic and perceptive ruler. Mustafa III sought to modernise the army and the internal state machinery to bring his empire in line with the Powers of Europe. However, the Ottoman state had declined so far that attempts to make major changes to the administrative status quo immediately roused the conservative Janissaries and imams to the point of rebellion. He did found Academies for Navigation. Mathematics and the Sciences. Mustafa III also secured the services of foreign generals to initiate a reform of the infantry and artillery. Antique Silver on Copper Damascus Wear, Islamic, Mamluk Style
Offered for sale is an antique copper. Overlaid with silver, small lobbed Damascus or Cairo wear pot or bowl. This item has an unusual lobbed shape and is decorated with complex silver designs. Animal forms(unusual for Islamic art) and Arabic script. This“bowl” appears to have some age. This little pot measures just under 5 inches across it mouth. About 5 ¾ inches across at its widest point through its lobes and approximately 3 inches tall. The condition of this bowl is good with a few small losses to the silver overlay. It also has a few small pin holes in it bottom from long use and corrosion. All considered however this is a hansom example of Islamic mixed metal wear that I would guess dates to the late 19 th or early 20 th century if not earlier.
