For your consideration, this Fabulous Ornate Original Finish American Victorian Tiger Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk w Fancy Winged Griffin Gallery w Beveled Mirror(Ca. 1890) This fine quality Victorian Secretary Desk weighs approximately 150 pounds, and measures 61” in height, 51 ¾” in width, 51 ¾” in width and 18 ¾” in depth. This Ornate Original Finish American Victorian Tiger Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk is in excellent condition for its age, has many wonderful ornate details and is just waiting for its place of prominence in your home! The top of this gorgeous Side-by Side Secretary is graced with lovely crown moulding with elegant applied ribbon moulding. Elegant ribbon moulding is also found around the bow front glass door as well as around the beveled glass ... moremirror that adorns the back of the fancy top display shelf. This fancy top display shelf is adorned with intricately carved winged Griffins and scroll work. Two petite drawers with brass pulls are found beneath this fancy display shelf to provide the perfect introduction to the secretary section of this wonderful piece. The secretary section consists of a fabulous slant front door that is graced with a masterfully carved North-wind head with a shell crown and scrolled adornments. It has an intact lock with working key. The original brass key escutcheon, and opens to reveal a nice writing surface along with 12 storage slots. You will notice that fancy valances and two full petite columns grace some of these storage slots and that there are two petite drawers with period filigree knob pulls. Next. Abundant storage is available in the three serpentine front drawers with original fancy brass pulls and escutcheons that are found beneath the slant front writing surface. CORINTHIAN STYLE HELMET- SPARTANS WARRIOR HELMET This is a beautiful Corinthian style helmet. This helmet is made of bronze material. Giving the piece a classic appearance. Every piece is unique because it is hand made. It was made in Greece, stands 27 centimeters high, 25 centimeters length and weighs approximately 4.7 kg. Marble base 14cmx14cm) The prototype for these helmets is the plain, uncrested Corinthian style of the 6th century BC. Originals of these can be seen in museums across the world, but the prototypes are in the Goulandris Collection in the Museum of Cycladic Art. The crests would not have been in bronze and the original helmets are much'thinner' than our reproductions which are definitely not to be worn! Our 21st century heads are larger than those which would have worn these helmets, so our largest'life-size' ... moreones are just under today's'life-size' These helmets, as with all our other bronze items, are cast in Greece, using the traditional'lost wax' method. The uncrested helmets are cast in one, the crested ones in two parts, then the crest inserted. You can still see the'wax marks' on the inside. As they are not mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. Doolittle Tokyo Raiders was one of the boldest, most spectacular aerial operations in military history commenced on April 18, 1942, when 16 B-25s rumbled off the pitching decks of the U.S.S. Hornet and proceeded toward their target- Japan. Once airborne, the aircraft skimmed the waves and trees to avoid further enemy detection and reached Japan within four hours. Dodging light to moderate anti-aircraft fire, they dropped their bomb loads and sped away for China.
