Beautiful and stunning George Nelson model 1688 Sunshine-G. This clock is a great expression of vintage retro 1950's style. It measures approximately 23 1/4" in diameter. This clock does work! Metal spokes comprise the rays that make up this Mid Century Classic. Powered by an accurate contemporary quartz movement. This clock will turn any room into a Mid Century Haven. Clock comes with a glass crystal protective lens, the rays are made from stamped recycled aluminum. I have not found another clock exactly like this one, possibly rare color! For sale here is an original Howard Miller model 2202 spike(starburst) style wall clock with its original electric(Synchron 610) powered movement that runs quietly and accurately. The finish is a brass body with black hardwood spikes. These have have their original paint and tightly affixed to the clock and are in nice condition. The paint on the hands is also in nice shape. Up for auction is a rare vintage all original White Ball wall clock from the 50's. This clock is the earliest version of all ball clocks designed by famous George NEL S ON and manufactured by the Howard MILL E R clock Company. The clock has a white enameled WOODEN body. Brass rods, white enameled wooden balls as hour markers, black enameled hour and minute hands. The wooden body is very rare compared to the metal body. Measures 28 1/2" in diameter and about 16" high. Has the original Herman Miller sticker on the bottom. Good vintage condition. Does have some damage to the bottom portion of the table's edge(see pics below) The black laminate top is still in good shape despite the dings on the edge. You really have to look closely at the perfect angle to see the damage to the underside edge. The laminate does have some light scratches which is to be expected of a piece of this age. Overall. It is a great hard-to-find piece and the condition does NOT detract at all from the overall appearance. This set is from Nelson's wildly popular Basic Cabinet Series for Herman Miller, and dates to 1952. The bottom piece is the#4933 Chest Cabinet with a matching display cabinet which sits atop. The cabinets are both finished in walnut. The bottom chest/cabinet features 2 doors on the left side(with adjustable interior shelf) and 4 narrow drawers on the right side.all finished in mahogany(or combed walnut) and also feature the original circular wood pulls and chunky wood legs. The top cabinet has one adjustable shelf on the left side and two on the right and sliding glass doors with incised finger pulls. Nelson studied architecture at Yale University in the 1920s, and in the next two decades earned a strong reputation as a writer on design for Architectural Forum, Interiors and Fortune. In 1945 Nelson began a long association with the Company of Zeeland. Michigan, where as head designer he developed an innovative line of furniture and commissioned new designs from others. Bateman I was the grandson of the famous English female silversmith. Hester Bateman(1708-1794) who was the matriarch of what was to become a large family working in this trade. The design of this tankard closely follows one of Hester's with the distinctive handle. And a floral arrangement with vines, and with a pierced lifting handle for the cover. Very Rare Gideon Kramer Seattle Space Needle 360 chair eames era george nelson
Seattle Space Needle Revolving Chair by Gideon Kramer. American 1962 Created for the observation deck of the Space Needle at the Seattle Worlds Fair of 1962. This unique design allowed visitors to"orbit" the base perimeter and view various sites of the fair. The chair actually functions with two 360 degree rotations. The seat will extend to its farthest position and do a wide rotation, and spin a tight rotation from the center. Very few were ever produced, and are quite rare today, although he produced a fixed base version, which were sold as office chairs in the 1960's. Ours has not been restored, including the metal parts, original carpeting on the base, and original seat and arms. The 26th shuttle mission lasted four days, one hour, zero minutes, and 11 seconds. Discovery landed 3 October 1988, 9:37:11 a.m. PDT, on Runway 17 at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Its primary payload, NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellite-3(TDRS-3) attached to an Inertial Upper Stage(IUS) became the second TDRS deployed. After deployment, IUS propelled the satellite to a geosynchronous orbit. The crew consisted of Frederick H. Hauck, Commander; Richard O. Covey, Pilot; John M. Lounge, Mission Specialist 1; George D. This is a Vintage Modernist Arm Chair designed by George Nelson for the Zeeland. Michigan furniture company of Herman Miller. Condition is excellent, showing little normal wear. The wood finish is original. The fabric has been professionally reupholstered in a beautiful Modernist pattern of slate blue circles against a tan/blue background which compliments the natural wood perfectly. The chair dates to the 1950's and has been well cared for. The chair measures 31 1/2 inches tall by 22 3/4 inches wide and 22 inches deep. Seat height is 16 1/2 inches and arm height is 25 1/2 inches, and was made for comfort. This is a circa 1960s modern battery-op erated Swiss clock. It is in excellent cos metic condition and it was working but it has stopped and I can't get it going again. It measures 9 1/2" tall and the 2-part b o dy is made of black plastic with a heavy solid brass base. Inside it says"Universal Escapement Ltd. Swiss Made" Inside the clock works it says"Thirteen 13 Jewels Unadjusted" Concerning condition. The metal rim(that holds the glass on the face) is pimpled around the bottom. And of the 3 inside clips that hold the 2 parts of the body tog ether. One has broken off, at the top. The mechanism on the bottom pushe s the 2 parts of the body apart to open it up. With the top clip broken off it is easy to separate the parts without the mechanism. The two lower clips hold it together just fine. Hi there, This is an original George Nelson for Howard Miller wooden ball clock that I've used for several years. Came from the kitchen of a kind elderly lady who passed away. It's time to move on. And I'd like it to find a good home. It keeps good time. But I can't guarantee its precision. The second hand went missing after a rowdy shindig in an old apartment. The hands are a bit chipped and bent(see photos) Looks like its previous owner(s) may have painted the kitchen and the brush got a little too close to a couple of the balls(see photos) The rungs needs a little spit shine and one is a bit wiggly. 1950s GEORGE NELSON HOWARD MILLER ASTERISK WALL CLOCK AS IS
Please study the photos carefully. This Howard Miller Asterisk wall clock. Designed by George Nelson is being sold as is. The old guy confessed that this clock had always hung in his garage. At some point he got creative and repainted the white and red hands. He also added birthday cake silver numbers on each arm. Leaving glue residue. The back is wood, so this must be one of the earliest ones made, and the wood has split. It could be clamped and glued. You can just see the vestiges of the original sticker. I've cleaned it up as best I can but will leave it to someone else to finish it. No returns. The good news is IT WORKS! The wire and the hands are not blue but white. My camera's weird sometimes!

FINE LARGE OLD NORTHWEST COAST KWAKIUTL INDIAN CEDAR TOTEM POLE George Nelson
A fine large old Northwest Coast Kwakiutl hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the early to mid 1900's. The totem depicts a Thunderbird standing over a bear devouring a salmon. Expertly painted in great bright vibrant tradition Kwakiutl pigments of red. Green and black. Though the totem is unsigned it is attributed to the hand of a Quatsino sound carver by the name of George Nelson who had a distinct ornate carving style. Most known for carving the famous sea lion house post in 1900 which are now on display at the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver. A example of his work is illustrated in Book Carvings and Commerce Model totem poles 1880-2010 by Michael Hall and Pat Glascock on page 111. He flew as a scientific equipment operator in the WB 57-F earth resources aircraft; served as the Astronaut Office representative in the Space Shuttle Extravehicular Mobility Unit(space suit) development effort. During STS-1 he was the photographer in the prime chase plane. He also served as support crewman and CAPCOM for the last two OFT flights. STS-3 and STS-4, and as head of the Astronaut Office Mission Development Group. A verteran of three space flights, Dr. Nelson served aboard STS-41C in 1984, STS-61C in 1986 and STS-26 in 1988. He has logged a total of 411 hours in space, including 10 hours of EVA flight time. SPACE FLIGHT EXPERIENCE: STS-41C Challenger(April 6-13, 1984) was a seven day ... moremission during which the crew successfully deployed the Long Duration Exposure Facility(LDEF) retrieved the ailing Solar Maximum Satellite, repaired it on-board the Orbiter, and replaced it in orbit. Born 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut, studied architecture at Yale University. A fellowship enabled him to study at the American Academy in Rome from 1932-34. In Europe he became acquainted with the protagonists and major architectural works of modernism. He joined the editorial staff of Architectural Forum in 1935. Where he was employed until 1944. A programmatic article on residential building and furniture design, published in Architectural Forum by Nelson in 1944, attracted the attention of D.J. DePree, head of the furniture company ... moreHerman Miller. Shortly after this. George Nelson assumed the position of design director at Herman Miller. Remaining there until 1972, he became a key figure of American design, also convincing the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, Isamu Noguchi and Alexander Girard to work for Herman Miller. His collaboration with Vitra began in 1957. From 1946 onwards Nelson also ran his own design office. Creating numerous products that are now regarded as icons of mid-century modernism. Nelson's office also produced important architectural works and exhibition designs. George Nelson died in New York in 1986. His archive belongs to the holdings of the Vitra Design Museum.
