1960's Herman Miller Mid-Century Executive desk. Absolutely fabulous piece of mid century furniture. This piece is NOT perfect. Good news.it's solid as a rock. Nothing loose. Broken, or damaged. Drawers open and close smoothly. Nothing wobbles. Bad news.wear to the finish.the desk has been used. It's not destroyed but it does show beyond normal wear especially the the back panel on the left side of the desk.see picture 5. Applied some lemon oil and it doesn't look as bad. The movementt runs fine. To the best of my knowledge all items seems to be original. Except one of the glass domes(Right one)has been replaced with one slightly shallower than the others.Hardly noticeable. Everything else seems to be original to my best knowledge. The leather has some small cracks that should be clearly visible in the photos. I feel the photos are quite accurate as the condition I just plugged the clock and it runs. Great pair of mid century club chairs with hairpin legs. The measure 28" high at the back. 35" wide at arms, 32" deep and 16" high at the seat. They are covered in a lavender vinyl I believe. Rare 1950s Howard Miller Mid Century Modern George Nelson Clock
This auction features a beautiful mid century modern Howard Miller clock model# 630. Designed by George Nelson in the 1950s. I believe this to be walnut or rosewood. The clock is in excellent condition and keeps accurate time. It also has an adjustment wand. It has a Star Burst background with a battery operated Kienzle German movement. The gold stem and feet have a few light/minor scratches(see pics) The glass front is in mint condition with no scratches or fog. The Rosewood/Walnut is also in excellent condition with no scratches. Signed with original manufactures decal, the measurements are height is 10 3/8 inches x 8 inch diameter x 3 ¾ deep. In Great Shape. Super clean and with no major damage other that normal age related nicks, Rolltop works perfectly and the drawers don't even look used. A really wonderful desk to sit and and a beautiful addition to any room. No key for the lock but I do have the adjustable metal bars to hang files in the back area. A wonderful 1941 WPA regionalist portrait drawing by well listed artist George Laurence Nelson(1887- 1978) Portrait depicts a handsome young man. Drawing is signed bottom right G. L. Nelson 1941. Condition: There is some very minor areas of loss by neck and outside of image(see pics) This drawing will look spectacular rematted and framed! Size: 50 X 67 CM(including frame) Artist Biography George Lawrence Nelson was born in New Rochelle. New York in 1887. He started his long art career by working diligently. He studied in New York City at the National Academy of Design School and the Art Student League. Then he went to Paris and studied at the Academy Julian and in 1911 worked in the studios of Jean Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. The training was rigorous and typically academic. The instructors at the academies believed that spending ... morelong hours drawing and rendering the effects of light best honed the powers of observation. Every studio was furnished with plaster anatomical casts. It was expected that the acolyte be disciplined to render charcoal images in precise detail. At a later time the student was expected to work from life models. When Nelson returned to the United States. He became an active exhibitor and excelled as a painter of portraits, receiving many prestigious portrait commissions. He also did and still lifes, excelling at floral pieces, and was commissioned to paint various murals. He was noted for his use of color and did not use the somber pallets of his previous instructors. There is no doubt that the impressionists influenced his colors, but he still retained the dependency on outlined forms, a method learned at the Academy. After much experimentation Nelson was successful at combining the two elements of line and color that would result in forming a creative personal style. He exhibited at The Pennsylvania Academy(1921) and was the recipient of major awards medals and citations. He also became a popular teacher. He was elected Associate of the National Academy of Design in 1929.

This is a very rare early Nelson coffee table with tin tag(see photos) The table top has the solid wood construction and is very different from the current design of particle board which you can see on the edge of the table(see photos) The legs are also slightly longer than the current table. All original screws and domes of silence glides are intact. It looks like they base may have been touched up or repainted but I am not completely sure on that as it is very difficult to determine. Here is a Herman Miller CSS Sliding Door Cabinet that was designed by George Nelson. This cabinet goes along with the CSS systems. It will only fit the wall mounted version of the CSS. The cabinet measures 32 inches in length by 12 inches wide and it stands 22 inches high. It has all the hardware to hang on the poles. This cabinet is made out of walnut and it is all original Herman Miller. It is in good shape for the age, it does show ware from being used which shows in the photos.
