1821 1874 Unknown Book Lot Alexander Great Illust. Map Lingard French D Herodote
This is a rather random lot of 19th Century Books. There is a 1821 French Book History D'Herodote Volume 2. It is in poor condition as the front cover is loose and the spine covering is missing. However the pages are in good condition and are not torn and are intact. There is a 1874 Lingard's History of England Volume 7. It is in poor condition with the cover being a bit ragged and the first few pages being loose and damaged. Overall it looks to be intact with the book not falling apart. There is also a Makes of History Alexander the Great with fold out map and illustrations. It is undated so I am guessing 1890s-1920s but I am not sure. Superior Printing Company of Akron Ohio. 2 Antique French Porcelain Tea Caddy Jar HP Crossed Feather Arrow Jean Petit ?
2 beautiful antique. Matching, hand painted porcelain jars or tea caddies. Marked. Made in France Hand Painted in red script, but worn. Also marked with the 2 crossed arrows or feathers or wheat stalks. There are a number of porcelain makers that use those marks in several countries. There are at least 3 different companies in France that use them as well. The mention of the country of origin in backstamps indicates that these pieces were made after 1891. Dimensions: 4" tall to the rim. 5" long, 2" wide. The opening ins 1.75" diameter. Condition: Excellent. No chips or cracks or hairlines. There is notable image loss where the lid sits that is visible when the lid is removed. I think this is expected with this type of piece. The underside is pretty dirty. This is also pretty normal for unglazed porcelain.

Antique French Celluloid Sterling Silver Handled Dinner Knives Set of 12
For your consideration is this Antique French Celluloid with Sterling Silver Band Handled Dinner Knives Set of 12. The knives measure approximately 9 3/4" long. Just the celluloid handle measures approximately 3 3/4" long. Just the Sterling Silver Band measures approximately 11/16" long. The band is not marked sterling but it has been tested by our Niton Precious Metals Analyzer and is sterling silver. All 12 of the knives are marked. PARIS. CONDITION: 11 of the 12 celluloid handles have cracks or splits. Some are minor and cannot really be seen and some are more noticeable. There are no chips on the celluloid or areas where a piece has broken off. They are all intact. The stainless steel blades have some spotting and dark spots in areas. They can be cleaned with a good stainless steel cleaner and the spots will come off. I ... morehave cleaned a good bit of the spots off but they do need some extra work. Just soaking them in vinegar/baking soda can help as well. On only one of the blades do I see a tiny bit of wear on the blade, the rest are in good condition. Motobecane or Gitane ? 62cm French Frame and Fork Nervex lugs Campagnolo dropout
Hi folks. Here is a frame and fork that may be Motobecane or Gitane or some other- I don't know. Fork and BB threads are French. I once spent some time trying to compare its features with specs. in Moto and Gitane catalogs from on-line scans. I didn't come to a satisfying conclusion. Number stamped into left rear dropout: 890484- I think it's 1890484 but I can't really make it out. I'm not an expert at evaluating condition of a bicycle frame. I'm just an obsessed hobbyist. I'll just do my best to describe the condition in my opinion. Seat tube: approximately 25" C-T/ 24.5" C-C. Top tube: approximately 23.5" C-C Standover height: approximately 34.25" with 700C wheels and skinny tires. Rear spacing 121mm unloaded It has been re-painted this nice retro medium-dark green. It's not a great-quality ... morepaint job but better than a rattle-can job. There are many chips and scratches in the paint. There's a Reynolds sticker"Guaranteed built with Reynolds 531 butted tubes. Fork and stays"in English) It's pretty clear that this is a replacement sticker and I have no idea if it's genuine. The chrome: in some areas is pretty nice. In other areas it's nicked and scratched. I don't find a significant amount of oxidation. The head-tube lugs appear to be Nervex; they're the fancy curly ringed type. Perhaps the seat lug and BB shell are Nervex as well. The rear dropouts are long Campagnolo with derailleur hanger. I don't find any significant damage-dents. Cracks, bends or impact damage. Because of the French threading. It can be challenging to source parts to fit. So, I'm including a headset and bottom bracket. The headset is a high quality Tange and is nearly new. The BB cups are Sugino.the spindle is? and appears to be long enough for a triple crank. Shipping charge is a guess/ approximately what seems to be customary- from looking at other frames for sale. I don't intend to make money on shipping. But. I don't intend to lose on it e

A good example of a French Model 1905 Infantry NCO's Sword. With finely crafted brass hilt and grip bound with brass twistwire. Foward hilt guard with inset victory laurel wreath. Blade is interesting in that it has been deeply impressed to the spine with the name GILL- not sure as to the significance of this as there was an English sword maker of the early 1800's with that name although this sword is later. Sword blade is unsharpened indicating that this was likely to be a parade sword- by this stage of the 20th Century. Swords of this type would not have been used in anger or on the battlefield. The measurement is about 5 1/2" tall to the top of the flower and 3 1/4" widest. The egg itself is about 3 1/2" high and 2 1/4" wide. A good size one. The metal stand look ormolu/ gilt bronze or brass with some edged design. The egg has a flower on top. Three small round ring hanging on the sides. This piece is in great condition, no chips or cracks on the glass. Some tiny tiny white spots from original glass making. No break on the metal, very minor wear on the gilt. This dated early 1900s. Beautiful Kiln Fired French Enamel Opera Glasses
These are a beautiful pair of La Duchesse opera glasses. Made in Paris France, circa 1900. The brass has a beautiful aged patina, and the body is a gorgeous kiln fired enamel, with a lovely pink background, with flowers and Dragon Flies. The eye pieces are crowned in Mother of Pearl, with the La Duchesse, Paris mark on each one. The glass has no cracks and the optics are great, The lenses raise by the Mother of Pearl wheel in the center. Many of these opera glasses come without a handle, but these have a lovely handle, which folds flat against the glasses when not in use, and rotates out for the lady to use to lift them to her eyes. There is one small dent in the brass around one glass on the bottom, but other than that small dent, these opera glasses are in great shape for their age, and have been lovingly taken care of. They are 4" ... moreacross the bottom and 3" across the top. They are 2" tall, when the lenses are closed down, and 3" when they are opened up. They are simply a thing of beauty. ON THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE FATHERLESS CHILDREN OF FRANCE, IN NYC- ORGANIZED IN 1916 FOR THE RELIEF OF NEEDY FRENCH CHILDREN WHOSE FATHERS HAD BEEN KILLED IN THE WAR. 1-1/2 pg letter. Approx. 6-3/4" x 8-3/4" dated at Roquefort. Landes, France, Feb. 8, 1919. From Marie Chereze Rapidy, a 10 year old girl, to Mrs. George E. Vincent, of Greenwich, Ct. on the National Executive Committee of The Fatherless Children of France, at 665 Fifth Ave. New York City. Mrs. Vincent's husband. George E. Vincent, 1864-1941) was a prominent Sociologist, President of the Chautauqua, and President of the Univ. of Minnesota(1911-1917) which he left to become President of the Rockefeller Institute. Written less than than 3 months after the Armistice ending WWI, from a little girl whose soldier father was killed in the War. A rough translation of a portion of the letter includes: In Landes. We have Americans who cut wood, they love the children, and in turn, the little children love them. All small children are well.especially the orphaned, thanks to you. The Americans are nice.while our soldiers were fighting, they carried in provisions they cultivated at home. America must be beautiful.
