Up for your consideration is this very impressive piece that has been in our family for 40 years. It was bought from an antique store and were told the following at that time. It is French from the 1880's- 1920(French revival period? It is solid oak or walnut It has brass hardware Also noted is that there are no known problems with the piece- nothing on it is broken. One key is included The hutch is 8 ft high. 21" deep, and 57" wide at the widest The bottom part is 36" high by 52" wide There is one shelf inside the bottom part and then the bottom shelf. It measures 15 1/2" deep The top part is 51" high by 52" wide. The top part has 2 shelves inside plus the bottom. These shelves measure 9" deep. This beautiful French Vellum Trunk. With its incredible character and elegance, sailed on the Queen Elizabeth from New York to an unknown destination. Measuring 35" long, 20 1/2" wide, and 13 1/2" deep, the exterior has the original solid wood banding and polished chrome latches and hardware. Engraved on the lock is the word"Surete" which is french for"security" Its edges are protected with original rawhide trim secured by silver nail heads. There is a wonderful original vintage tag from the Cunard Line and an old travel decal. Circa 1920's. This French Trunk is in good condition with minimal wear from age and use. The interior has 2 working cloth straps and is clean with no issues or musty smell. The trunk has the original leather handles, but one has a split in part of the leather. French-Style Vintage Reverse Glass Decoupage Framed Picture w/Gold Leaf ~NR!
Hard to find decoupage artwork on convex glass. Frame measures 7 1/4 x 6 1/2" inside opening showing image is 5 1/2 x 4 1/2. Decoupage image depicts a beautiful European countryside with farmers and their livestock. Gold leaf outlines the mountain ridge& tree lines. Bright spot in trees is the flash from the camera. Label on reverse tells of how decoupage originated in France in the 17th century. This piece dates to mid-20th century and was marketed in New York city. Antique 19th Century Sterling Silver& Bronze Religious Chalice with case. This chalice was used for many years during church services. The upper cup portion is Sterling Silver. The hallmark/stamps have worn away a bit with use and are hard to decipher(see photos) I believe the stamps to be French) The stem and base are Brass and Silver Plated. Most of the Silver plating on the stem has worn away. The base is engraved with leaves and one Pattee Alisee Cross. The chalice has not been cleaned and will be left as-is for the purchaser to care for as they choose. Overall this is a very beautiful piece! It's worth noting that French first standard silver is 950/1000 purity. A higher standard than sterling 925. The pot is done in a very classical and traditional form, with a hinged lid as well as a hinged finial. The handle is beautifully made turned wood in a rich dark brown. The interior is clean and quite useable. The exterior is vertically ribbed or faceted. Probably intended as a chocolate pot, equally serviceable as a coffee pot, lighthouse style teapot, whatever you like. It features a chrome surround and fairly minimalist numbers. It is made in England but has a french movement. On the back it says'8 jours days. 7 rubis jewels' and is engraved with the letters MCW 1962. Condition is lovely, with just a tiny dent in the surround(see pic) a small chip to the bakelite(see pic) and minor discolouration. It has been working perfectly since I got it.
