Two chairs and a hutch. It's all a wonderful folk art style with green paint. We think the paint is original and don't see any signs of other colors. It appears to be made from pine as you can see on the back of the hutch. The hutch is a step back cupboard and has two doors up above, two little drawers down below, and two doors below that. The upper doors have glass and one side's glass is missing. The stepback has neat old hardware that was painted over. The table is a simple cross base table with two little chairs. The entire set is old but we don't know how old. You make the call on whether you'd call this Antique, ... morePrimitive, or Vintage. We don't know but it looks antique to us. The top of the table has a crack in it and some residue from tape or something. The entire set has nicks, dings, chips and scrapes. There are also some worm holes on and under the pieces. It's got that character that we just love! We think it's adorable! The cabinet is 13.25" W x 5.5" D x 17" H and weighs 5 lbs. The drawers are not dovetailed as you can see in the last picture. The table is 11.25" W x 9.25" D x 8.75" H and the chairs are 5" W x 4.5" D x 8.75" H. Together the chairs and table weigh 3 lbs. Thank you for looking at this item. Carved Stone Argentina "Martin Fierro" Poem = Pair of Folk Art Plaques - signed
This item up for auction is a pair of hand-carved. Folk art plaques by Argentine artist, Arbio. Each is signed. Diameter of each is roughly 4.5" These are very unique. And in perfect condition. The carvings each have a'gaucho' loosely translated as an Argentine cowboy. One is seated by a fire with his horse behind him, and a bottle setting near him. He seems to be whittling; the other plaque has an older gaucho who is talking or telling a story. Beside him lays a dog, and a hut is behind him. Both are very detailed and intricate works of art. I am relatively sure that the medium is stone, and it has a smooth but'touch sandy' feel to it. I do not know what type of stone it is. I did not know who Martin Fierro was; the portion of the poem in Spanish on the plaque is attributed to him. Martin Fierro was not actually a poet. ... moreBut rather is known as the poem itself. Translation due to the different rural dialects of the mountains and hills of the country is difficult, and cannot be literally completed as I understand it. The poem is basically a parable. A search on'Martin Fierro' provided the following information: Martin Fierro continued to be reprinted. It was not established as the national classic it is today until 1913, when it was first studied seriously as an example of epic literature by Leopoldo Lugones, in a series of lectures collected in his book El Payador(The Singer. It is now firmly ensconced in the Argentine school curriculum, and worked hard an a national institution. I believe this to be an inkstand dish with a central pot for pens but it could be some form of display vase-not sure. Made from a very dense stoneware body with what looks to be a salt glaze finish. It has an arcaded, loop border with head/mask details and each corner with a ball finial and with twist rope handles either end. The centre with a flared baluster vase and barrel shaped pot with hatched design on either side. The whole seated on a hollow base with carved/shaped border. Decorated with blue dash/spot design. The whole reminds me of certain pieces of early delftware in it's design. It is extremely heavy and seems to have been fired at a high temperature. Not sure where it was made-England. Published by Minerva in 1979 is a large folder, 10" x 13 1/2" with 27 sheets of patterns of folk embrodiery motives from Paloc region, Hungary. These patterns begin with the red and blue embroidery(cross stitch) Paloc is known for. Theare are 8 of those. Beginning with two sheets of letters. Then it goes to other types of stitching styles, one of which looks like Kalocsa, and that Kalocsa-like motif is used on the cover of the folder. Occasionally. A sheet will give ideas(through line drowings) for usage of a particular design on a contemporary article: clothing or home decor. I should add here that the sheets are twice the size of the folder. As they are folded in half. Only one side of the sheet is printed( it's not a double-sided printing) ... moreand in most cases it's regular paper(yellowing) with a grid and embroidery pattern printed on the grid. There is a number of sheets with photogrhaps of actual textiles, and these sheets are made on glossy paper. This publication weighs 1 1/2lb. CONDITION: Good. The folder shows definite signs of usage and wear. And contains a dedication in Russian on the inside of the front cover. It also has a faint cigarette smell- this was much worse when I picked it up in Europe last year. Pages are yellowing. But are free of mechanicl damage.

The quilt is a cockscomb and currents pattern and I love the bright turkey red cotton the maker used throughout the antique quilt. The quilting is exceptional in every way with feather wreaths and gingerbread scallops. Look closely at the quilting and you will know that this quilt is a"Wow Factor" This quilt was not made by a novice and the applique pattern and quilting are very difficult to execute with precision. Kind of primitive and funky at the same time, definitely one of a kind. The colorful tulips are made of felt pieces that are appliqued onto blocks of mostly wool, some velvet. The applique stitching is done with black thread, which makes a great contrast to the brightness of the flowers. The blocks are hand embroidered together crazy quilt style, using a variety of brightly colored threads. A long strip of red corduroy runs down two sides. The backing is the same red fabric used for the ruffle. The batting, which is a thin layer of cotton blanket or something similar, was sewn to the backing before the backing was applied. There's no quilting, just ... morea few places that are hand tied. All blocks have the tulips on them except for one. Which you can find on the lower bottom right of the full quilt picture. Superstition block, maybe? Size is 64" x 66"+/ This has been used lightly if at all. I don't see any noticeable flaws. Nothing to detract from it. 1880 FOLK ART PENCIL DRAWING OF A BOY IN A HORSE STABLE Quite a nicely drawn old PENCIL DRAWING about 7.5 x 11.75” and a fine example of American folk art c1880. The scene two stabled work-horses. With a stable hand working on a harness. A little boy looks on. Tack hangs on the wall. This old drawing was originally found in the Lynchburg. Virginia area. The sketch was made on drawing paper the consistency of light cardboard. The sketch does not appear to be signed but there is a penciled date in the lower right corner, which appears to be Oct. 2d’80(see scan) this art work has the appearance of having been drawn“FROM LIFE” on that day. The drawing has a little discoloration around the edges where it was once apparently framed. Also there are wood-stains on the back that have bled through from a backing board in the original frame. This is super hard to part with but since we are moving I am trying to downsize. I bought this 25 years ago at the flea market from a very old man. He said he had had it for years and didn't even remember where it ever came from. It is obviously old because of the patina on the back side of the painting. Early 1900s German Folk Art Mechanical Rooster Chicken Coop Squawker Cuckoo
This listing is for a nice. Mechanical example of early 1900s German folk art. The pictured chicken coop is home to a rooster on springs. Open the gate to the coop and the original, working squawker is activated and the composition rooster swings out. A composition hen is roosting on the shelf at the back. The printed paper roof has some scuffs but is still fully intact as are both printed paper brick sides, though they show far more significant fading. Apart from being a little dusty, both the rooster and the hen are complete with delicate leaf wings. The rooster also has a spotted chest, a single feather tail and a felt comb. This piece measures approximately 6.75" x 4.75" x 7.75" and has a faint Germany stamp on the base.

OLD Folk Art KENTUCKY DERBY hand carved wood THOROUGHBRED HORSE plaque
For your consideration is a very unique hand carved plaque featuring a Thoroughbred horse. Please ask questions if you would like more information. I believe it to be old. The printed words on the paper attached to the backside give provenance to the Kentucky Derby. It is all hand carved and and what I would call very rustic or primitive. Not a mass produced item. I am unsure of the type of wood. Possibly hickory. The carving is done in very high relief. The horse has a smooth almost oil rubbed finish while the background is rougher with a duller finish. The plaque measures just 5 3/4" X 6 3/4" and is approx. 1" thick. It has wire attached for hanging and standing on backside. This was possibly a prize for a contest held during a running of the Kentucky Derby. I can find no damage other than it has been displayed for years. ... moreNo chips. Cracks or repairs. Paper on back is faded but intact. All items are from a clean non smoking home. But. We do have a dog. She is not allowed on the furniture but those with allergies should be aware. Vintage Dala Swedish folk Art hand carved wooden horse figure with matching pin
Vintage Dala horse figure and pin These are a great set. One to wear and one to display. The figure measures 4 inches tall. And about 3 3/4 inches head to tail. The pin measures 3/4 of an inch long. And 7/8 of an inch tall. They are both in good condition with no missing paint or chips. The pin on the little one is tilted upwards a bit but still functions as it should. These animals were mounted on a chain link fence to create a scene in the play area of the yard. These were on the fence right behind the merry go round and the see saw right next to the jungle gym. These were hand made by grandpa back in the 1950's with loving hands to make the play area more enjoyable for his grandkids. These were mounted on the fence and removed before each winter to prevent damage. Each year he changed the scene slightly. The trees. Bridges and smaller birds have disappeared but these animals remain in very good condition as pictured.
