For your consideration is this Vintage Antique Guan Yu Guandi Temple Chinese Hand Carved China Chest Cabinet. LOCAL PICKUP RECOMMENDED. Given a couple of days. Worth, Texas area(See below) Description: The Chinese words are from a famous Chinese leader and warrior Guan Yu. In the time of Sanguo, about 1800 years ago. The gold leaf highlighted hand carved floral motifs are accented with mystical serpentine dragons near the bottom. As you can see, this is a stunning and spectacular piece; exquisite art. The chest measures 61” X 32 ½” X 14 ¾” and is in 2 sections. The top section is 35 ¾” X ... more32 ½” X 14 ¾” with a slight protrusion of about an additional inch for the sloped front door. The base measures 25 ¼” high. The base front bulges out at the top 2 inches to about 17” and both sides protrude 2” to approximately 36” wide total. The base and top are held together by two wooden peg dowels, as shown. The legs have runners to keep the 4 legs from being damaged(most likely added for stability and to reinforce the delicate legs) The brass hardware attached to the fold down door appears to be 1920s to 1940s vintage to replace the original hardware. The top doors magnetic keepers and chrome plates were added in the 1970s to keep the doors shut. The back, top, shelves, drawer sides and bottoms and other flat surfaces are all solid plank wood. There are 2 doors top with a shelf inside. Below are cubicles at the fold down sloped door and 3 slide out drawer’s at the bottom. Extraordinarily Nice! We have a nice lot of antique furniture that has come into our shop from two different customers. They are great pieces and have some super history. This china cabinet is one of the prettiest I have seen. It is made of a good quality walnut. It stands about 78 inches high and is made to sit in a corner. The front is curved with double opening centered doors. Each panel of glass is an individual piece of beveled glass(some of these are a little loose so you would want to reset them once purchased) All are perfect with no chips. Cracks or breaks. There are four shelves(plus bottom of cabinet) all of wood. This belonged to our customer's great aunt and was well cared for. We are selling this for pickup only. Circa 1860s? China cabinet
A circa 1860s I think. China cabinet. This is a family heirloom. I hate to sell but I need the money. This still has the original wooden casters and slots in the back of the shelves for displaying china. It also has the original curved glass on the sides but I recall the door glass being replaced in the 1960s. I'm unable to tell what kind of wood this is but the thing is very heavy. My mother was offered $1000.00 for it by a dealer in 1992 so I'll start the bidding there. Don't be afraid to ask any questions or ask for specific pics. The whatnot shelf in the background is from the same time period and may be listed later along with other antiquities. This is a local pick-up only and because of the curved glass. Rare Thomas Eastlake Walnut and Burl China Cabinet/ Etagere. Circa 1870's. Massive, at least 9ft long and 7ft tall. Three sections, all with glass doors, adjustable shelves and mirrors on the back. This all sits on a base with 3 drawers. Each section has a top piece that is removable. It would appear that when this piece was designed it became apparent that it needed to be in sections so it could be moved into a home. This was bought by us in Indiana and moved to CA in 1986.
