This listing is for a large Heintz sterling on bronze flared cylinder vase from. Most probably, the period between 1906 and 1912 when Heintz produced most of its unmarked pieces. Interestingly, though, as the last photo shows, the overlay is marked"sterling" Heintz also allowed its workers to make ware for themselves; and these, too, are unmarked. This was apparently a common practice during that era. As my great uncle worked at Tiffany in Corona, NY as a young man, and brought home unmarked bronze pieces for his parents) As you should be able to see from the pictures(despite my sometimes cockeyed photography) The vase is a large 10 inches high, 4 inches in diameter at the top, and weighs a hefty two pounds. To give you a better sense of size(as so many Heintz vases that appear large in eBay photos turn out to be very tiny pieces) ... moreI've shown it alongside a can of Coke. In the 2nd last photo you'll note that a can could be dropped right inside, easily. The vase has very nice clean lines- flaring smoothly and subtly at the base and rim- and it's in excellent condition with just one small'ding' at the lower left of the silver holly pattern. This is pretty insignificant and I wasn't really able to capture it in a photo. Over the years. The vase has been used for flowers and has acquired some mottling to the bronze and a bit of verdigris on the base. And, as the pictures will show, the sterling could use a better polishing- but being short on time I didn't want to rush and risk lightening the surrounding bronze.
