Early 20th Century E. Berninghaus Hercules Antique Barber Chair
For Auction: antique E. Berninghaus"Hercules" barber chair. Found in an estate sale. Stamping on base says"Pat. May 8 1901" I'm no expert and don't know if this is the actual date of the chair's manufacture but guess it's probably close. This is definitely a restoration project but it appears that most original parts are here. From what I can tell. It is missing: one original armrest screw(see in photo) the head rest and calf foot pad. The porcelain is in decent shape but does have a few chips. It looks like the original wood bases are still under this bad re-upholstery job. The hydraulic oil leaked out when moving, so I am unsure if the hydraulics work or not. Please take a close look at all photos, they will tell you the exact condition more than I can. A very rare Koken Shoe Shine Chair from the 1890's. Oak pressed back chair with bentwood arms can be removed from oak stand. Stand has single drawer that says"Manufactured by Koken Barber Supply Co, St. Louis, Mo" and two brass foot supports. The stand is 39" deep X 22-1/2" wide X 21" high, with the chair the piece is 65-1/2" high. We've been told that this is a very rare, museum quality Koken shoe shine- there were only 68 made to order originally. This piece is in excellent condition. We've been collecting antiques for over 30 years and this is the only Koken shoe shine from this period that we've seen. We are moving across the country and can't accept returns. Thanks for looking.

Antique Carved Oak &Ornate Brass Barber Chair 1880's Reclines w/ Headrest/ Suede
Antique Ornate Hand Carved Oak With Ornate Brass Foot Rest. Barber Chair from circa 1880's. Chair is in very good working order. It sits 45" tall by 25 1/2" in width from handle to handle. Reclines to 56" has Headrest that is 7" wide by 3 1/2" tall, with Brass metalwork, which works good too. Gorgeous Ornate Brass foot plate is 16 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" deep. Attached to the back neck rest are two beautiful antique razor strops. The back rest of the seat and armrests are covered in the original brown suede with heavy upholstery brads. The seat itself had to be reupholstered due to staining, and it matches quite well. The chair has solid oak bottom, side panels and framework, with ornate hand carvings. I was told by an Antique Dealer that this is a Koken chair, but I am unable to find any markings to confirm ... morethat. I purchased this at an Estate auction some 20 years ago, and had it in my Hair Salon all these years, strictly for ambiance. It's a gorgeous chair, that I no longer have use for. This can be shipped anywhere if you want to make the arrangements. I can recommend freight.com, clients having successfully used them repeatedly. Circa 1966 Koken Triumph barber chair which pumps. Rotates and reclines smoothly. This is the famous chair likened to the Captain's console on the early Star Trek series. Built in St Louis, Missouri on a cast iron frame designed to last about forever. If seat and arms are reupholstered, this could be a wonderful chair. I did not clean body I will leave that up to buyer.Face paint is very nice.Knees bend fine. Barber Chair is perfect.Measures 6 1/2" tall. 3 1/2" wide. Lays back and straight up,turns around.Very Cute! Dryer has no flaws.10 inches tall Little toys that come with doll are all perfect except for the comb it is missing teeth.Refer to photos The cape that hangs over the chair is soiled from age.It was attached with a staple that was rusty.I removed it but it left a rust stain. Revised Listing" Vtg. Antique Koken Barber Chair Back& Headrest assembly. Decided to sell all as one unit! complete adjustable back& headrest assembly. Needs restored. Wood tracking is worn inside backrest and some of the leather worn and torn, parts all need restored/ rechromed. Some screws missing. Buckeye towel dispenser has some small bends on corners and one tab is broke off, useable and repairable. Side trim on backrest is broke or split, other side is ok. Push button headrest assembly is good, cover Part(PBB) has small crack from it being misaligned over years seen in picture 11, picture 12 shows worn wood tracking. Headrest adjustable bar was said to possibly be shortened or broke in last listing but it is factory and original length of the backrest track.
