The seat is a thick, black vinyl. The picture is Tom Thumb riding a frog from the classic children`s story. The chair is in excellent condition with no tears or holes in the seat or back. There is one, very minor scratch, about 2" long extending from Tom`s outstretched hand to the right of the chair. There is no visible wear to the image or the name'Tom Thumb' The chrome looks good and the piece is sturdy, like the day it was made. The seat measures 29" wide, 15" tall and 12 1/2" deep. Rare VINTAGE Burma Shave WOOD Sign Advertising Barber Pole Chair Gas Oil Antique
Offered for your consideration is this oldie for you to look at. I am sure some can remember as a child in the 1950's watching from the back seat of your car. For these signs alongside the road. They were lots of fun to read and you just could not wait until you got to the next part of the ditty. These old signs date somewhere after 1926 and into the early 1950's. This is a double sided sign that reads"Burma Shave" on one side and"Made Samson Strong" on the backside. Now this sign is not in perfect condition and I will try to explain what I see. You check out the pictures and be the judge. The top side exhibits some rot and loss of the wood. I am unsure as to what caused this and it is still kind of brittle in areas. It appears as if someone has tried to stop the loss by applying some sort of adhesive at some point ... morein this signs life. It also exhibits some paint loss and fading in areas. The size is approx 40 1/4" long, 11 3/4" wide, 3/4" thick. Although this sign has a few defects they way time has made it gives it that old wild west feel. It would fit nicely into any collection. 2 Norman Cherner Mid-Modern Plycraft Custom Made Salon Barber Lounge Chair Stool
This auction is for 2 chairs I picked up at an estate sale. I think that they are Norman Cherner Plycraft plywood chairs that were custom made into Barber/Salon Chairs. I'm guessing it was re-stained with some pretty thick stain which is worn of on the arms to show the nice wood. The padding on the back of one is slightly coming away from the wood but not loose and still looks fine. One of the adjustable screw on feet is missing and one has the edges broken on it but can be replaced since they just screw on. They swivel and have foot pump height adjustments. The height of the seat goes from 19" up to 27" so you could use them as a Desk/Table chairs or Lounge Bar/Salon/Barber/Bench/Drafting Table chairs or whatever. The tag on the bottom says American Atelier Inc but I think that was put on by who made them into the salon/barber ... morechairs because they look like Cherner chairs to me. Antique Walker Browne Oak Portable Folding Dentist Chair 1882 Barber Koken
The Skeleton Key is very proud to offer for sale an original 1882 Walker Browne Portable Dentist Chair made by the Walker Browne Dental Company. This chair was made for the traveling dentist and was carried from town to town in a horse and carriage. Chair is in exceptional condition with minor nicks and scratches here and there. There is one repair that I can see on the left where the recline bar adjustment attaches to the back rest. A dowel was placed in the screw hole for reinforcement. It has no breaks or cracks. All original hand forged iron bolts. Nuts and hardware. Not sure if leather seat is a replacement and if so how long ago it was done. Has wrinkles from use so, not really sure. Velvet on head rest is in pristine condition with some light wear on the lower right and left area. Two versions of the chair were available, the plain ... moreoak version and the antique oak version with metal parts. This is the antique oak version. I sat on it(130 lbs) and it was solid as a rock All I did was bring the wood back to life with some orange oil polish. Please see the old tin type I found of the chair in use and two old newspaper advertisements for the chair as well. I have done extensive research on this chair and cannot find another example anywhere in any other shop or site. Not even at the Dental Museum in South Carolina. They have two similar examples in their collection, but not the Walker Browne. The first technologically driven barber chair was patented by Koken in 1878, this chair has a patent date of 1882 so it is a very early example of very innovative designs and engineering including 7 different levels of height adjustment, three angles of reclining, adjustable head and foot rest, and of course the ability to fold up. RARE White Porcelain CHROME Takara Belmont Barber Shop Chair
A Rare and One Of A Kind- Belmont Barber Chair produced by the Takara Company#309707056(see photo#10) with very cool full white porcelain sides(sitting in it reminds me of driving in a 1960s white convertible Cadillac Eldorado Seville) even comes with the headrest w/rolled paper dispenser. Lever recline. The primary owner is now 81 years old. A third generation barber(now retired) who purchased this classic in the early 1960s and was well cared for. Original Takara Company Belmont metal tag and Takara Chukoshd Co. material label still in tact. Keep in mind that this barber chair is from the'60s so it does have age including some chrome pitting.
