3 ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER PLATES - HAND WROUGHT- ARTS & CRAFTS
These are 3 lovely Sterling Silver Plates that were hand wrought in the early1920's. They were from a set of butter or dessert plates owned by my grandparents and I got these 3 when the set was divided up by the family. There is a stamp on the back that identifies the company that made them. If you know the name of that company. Please let me know. I do know that they are skillfully hand wrought. There were many excellent artisans during the time of Novick and Kalo and one of those artisans must have made these. My grandparents lived in Chicago too. Each plate measures 6-1/2" diameter. The letter H is not engraved. But is applied to the plate. There is also a raised 1/8" wide lip going around the edge of the plate. I took one plate to a gold/silver jeweler and he said it weighed 4.82 Troy ounces. So the three together are about ... more14.46 Troy ounces. They are each nice and heavy and without any damage that I can see. Of course there is some light scratching which could easily be buffed out. These plates are stunning and so beautifully made. It was like hardened pine pitch. Maybe maple syrup. I had to use chemicles to remove most of it and hand wite brush the rest. Was quite the job. Byt it all came off.I left the back alone. Each with hammer finished polished Copper mounts in the form of leaves and an Oak b ulb holder support with a Brass s piral binding. Presented upon diamond shaped English Oak back plates. No marks. This copper lamp is clearly imprinted on the bottom with the Arrow Metal Copper mark(see the photos) fits nicely into the Arts and Crafts. Or Mission, period. It has a naturally acrued patina, not recently polished, and has the flaw on the backside near where the cord emerges from the body, an indentation. Again, see the photos. This lamp appears to be entirely of copper, some turned and some cast elements. From base to top of the harp it measures about 17" while the copper vase shape is about 9 1/2" high. Scotland. a set of six early to mid-20th century solid oak"farm" dining chairs with unusual arts and crafts style seat backs and a similiar"sleigh" foot as the large farm table they came in with. These oak chairs, 5 side chairs and 1 arm chair, have brown pleather seat covers which are usable in"as is" condition, and they are in very nice condition for their age, with no major scratches or staining to the finish, only the character marks one would expect with loving use over time. The five side dining chairs measure 36 inches tall by 18 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches deep. Front to back. This is a lovely pair of ash trays made in 1929 by Albert Edward Jones. The ash trays are round in shape with stepped sides and a band of twisted rope design running around the outer edge just above the bottom rim. They have flat round top rims each decorated with three Tudor Rose motif bosses. The silver has a gently spot hammered finish. The ash trays are 4 inches/ 101 mm in diametre and they stand 7/8 inches/ 22 mm high. They are weighted and weigh 444 grams. The rims of the ash trays have matching hallmarks- lion passant. Anchor for Birmingham, letter E for 1929 and maker's mark AEJ for Albert Edward Jones(A E Jones) The ashtrays are overall in good condition with ... moresome tiny dings. There is also an anvil and hammer impressed inside of the lettering. These are made to represent flower petals in bloom. With the actual candle holder at the center. This is an Arts and Crafts Movement wooden box. The hinges and latch are made of silver. The trim is copper. It shows slight wear conducive to it's age. The wood is in good condition. Both hinges and the latch function properly. There is a small crack on the upper right hand corner of the lid. As seen in the picture. Jos Heinrich arts & crafts bronze, copper & silver chafing dish w/lobster motif
You are bidding on a stunning Jos Heinrichs sterling silver- lined. Copper and brass chafing/bisque set. The silver on the inside of the chafing dish, lid and, around the outside rim of the pan is in very good, usable condition, with only a few tiny areas of pitting. The chafing pan is in good condition, with minor dings by each handle, that are not visually distracting to the overall beauty of the dish. The copper/brass holder with three lobsters is strong, intact and has no damage. The burner is strong, intact and the copper is in great condition. The label on the bottom of the chafing pan reads"Jos Heinrich, New York and Paris, pure bronze and sterling silver" with the burner, indicating the same maker, but"pure copper" The total height of this piece is"10" with a width of 7 1/4" and a pan depth of 3 ... more1/4" The sterling silver lining was cleaned enough for you to appreciate the wonderful condition of the interior, and to show you that this piece is not only beautiful, but ready to be used at your next dinner party. Antique Linen Collar ~ Arts and Crafts Embroidery ~ Estate Find ~ TLC Here is an old natural linen collar plus a single cuff. Or maybe it's part of the collar, I'm not sure. The collar has an Arts and Crafts embroidered design; it has been packed away for many years and the cuff ~ extra piece has some soiling near the upper edge; both pieces have some small light brown age ~ storage related spots; the collar has a small dark spot just below one of the snaps; the collar looks a bit dingey around the neckline, I have not attempted laundering. The collar measures about 17 inches around, 3 1/2 inches from top to bottom; the cuff/extra piece measures 3 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches. Still in good shape for it's age, just needs some TLC.
