Vintage Sterling Silver Hand Vanity Mirror R. Blankinton RB Co. Art Nouveau
Found at a recent sale is this vintage sterling silver hand mirror made by Blankinton or RB Co in very good pre-owned condition. What I see are two small dings in the metal on the side of the oval part of the mirror and a couple of small scratches on the back that may polished out. I have not polished the mirror. The glass. Which is bevelled, is clear with no scratches. The handled mirror is large measuring 13 inches long and 5 inches wide. It is marked on the side RB Co. 700. Another one of these mirrors sold recently on eBay and you can get better pictures by going to Completed Items.

A very unusual antique decorated French wood Art Nouveau style string box
A very attractive and unusual late Victorian or Edwardian era wooden decorated string. Sewing thread or ribbon box, with a coloured lacquered wood floral design to the top and finished with a tassel. The top has the most lovely design of flowers and outlining in coloured and textured pyrography- where the wood was decorated with hot tools to produce a raised and textured effect. This box has a rather Art Nouveau look to it. The box has a little drilled hole in the side of the base. Through which fine string or ribbon is threaded and then pulled out beneath the top. The item is nicely made and has an old paper label underneath which reads"Au Printemps" So I think this was orignally sold in France. Condition is overall very good. Ut there is some wear to the green varnished areas in the top design- but this is still a lovely and rare ... morepiece. I feel this would be best suited to thin string. Thread or twine, as shown in the picture- and will be included with the box- rather than thick string. It measures 3.75 inches(9.5 cm) in diameter across the base. BRASS? ART NOUVEAU- Antique? Vintage? BROOCH Swirling designs "Oxidized" finish!
This sort of mystifies me. It's a vintage or an antique piece, but I can't tell which. It's brass, I AM pretty sure of that, and quite large, 2" in diameter. It's a brooch, and it has etched Art Nouveau designs and an"oxidized" background finish, the other part is shinier. I believe there is a partial stamped maker's mark on the reverse, which I tried to photograph, but it's really pretty obscure. Overall I would say the condition of the piece is very good, excellent if it's an antique. This will be a wonderful piece to wear with MANY different styles and color combinations. This is a most unusual brooch measuring 2.5 inches and secured in the back with a simple hook closure. Open styled. I am unsure of the plating, as it appears copper, but could be tarnished gold plating, There are diamond shaped points on wach end. The brooch features aurora borealis beads, and they are also confusing to me. I don't know if they are clear crystal painted over with pink varnish, or if they are swirls of clear and pink. The beads are handwired together with great precison. I believe they are glass because when I tap them to the glass table I am working on the sound appears as a tap, tap, tap. and not as a thud. This auction is for a really unusual. Exceptional PORCELAIN COVERED URN made by Choisy Le Roi of FRANCE with CORALENE decoration. This urn is very unusual in design, it is very JAPANESE in the design with 2 butterflies and a stunning DRAGONFLY on the body and lid. They flutter over bamboo branches and some other foliage. The backgound is a wonderful, vibrant deep navy blue with gilding on the handles and neck. The photos do a far better job of describing it than I am able. The bodies of the butterflies and dragonfly is done in gold, really detailed, down to the very tiniest details of anatomy. The foliage is also done in gold, and there is some silver on the top, the branches on the lid are in silver, a wonderful counterpoint to the rest. Really stunning! Description Circa early 1900’s a picture frame style brooch with silver tone metal floral frame. A black onyx colored glass stone with a white glass lady cameo. It is in very good condition for the age of it, it does have a few tiny chips around the edge of the black stone and on the back there is a crack but the crack is not the whole way through. I did put a glaze over it so it should hold up for a long time.
