The two Sevres style porcelain panels also feature putti or cherubs with birds. I am not a clock expert so please bear with me. The clock has a pendulum that that is numbered"347" the same as the movement- so I think it's original. The key was made in England so I doubt that is original. I gently wound the clock a little(without the pendulum installed) and it runs. But obviously too fast. It chimes on the hour. I hung the pendulum where I thought it should go and the clock did not run very long. Please email me if you have any specific questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. SIZE: The clock is 12.75 inches tall. And approximately 13.5 inches wide. It weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. The clock face is just under 3.5 inches diameter. CONDITION: There are some rubs and tarnish to the finish. I haven't tried cleaning the clock. I don't see any repairs or damage. In the photos. You can see what looks like some"separations" in the metal but it is not damage- some pieces were cast separately. Please see the close up pictures for the best description of the cosmetic condition. The clock is an electric clock but I don't believe this is the cases original clock. The original most likely having been of a wind up mechanism and with deeper workings. The original winding mechanism possibly being fitted into the base as there is a hole in the case here. I am not absolutely sure of the type of wood the case as I am not very good at judging different types but it may be mahogany. It is difficult to put an exact date on the clock as it appears to have some of the Art Nouveau style of decoration as well as of the Arts and crafts period so could possibly be right at the end of the Arts Nouveau period beginning of the Arts and Crafts period showing a combination of the two styles. The electric clock is wired and with plug but this absolutely would need to be checked by an electrician if required for use. The clock does work but is sometimes needs a bit of a jiggle to get it started and as the clock is set deeper than it would be in it's original case it is also a bit of a fiddle to adjust the fingers although it can be done. Other than the above mentioned the clock is in lovely condition showing just one or two minor surface marks but with no chips to the carving. Snips, cracks or damage and with the many pictures giving a good representation of condition and where it can be judged on it's own merit, so please do check these out carefully before bidding. This auction represents a unique opportunity to acquire a museum quality clock for your collection. This IDENTICAL clock was documented i n Rick Ortenburgers book, Black Forest Clocks. This book is one of the standard works in English on the subject of Black Forest horology nad was publish ed in 1991. The clock was selec ted by the author out of thousands of clocks for th is publication back in the late 1980's. It can be found on page 7 5 in a large 1/3 page photo. It also has a write up dedicated to the clock. Clearly the clock is wonderful in its own right. But this added providence makes it an investment grade clock that is recognized by collectors worldwide. Made in the Black Forest of Germany around 1890-1900. The cloc k has an unusual motif that is very pleasing to the eye. The overall shape of the carving creates a be aut iful silhouette on t he wall. While most cuckoo clocks from th is era were carved from the soft linden w ood. This high quality example is contruct ed of solid walnut. The wood is much harder. The carvings are sharper, and the finish is beautiful. You can actually see the natural variation and grain of the wood with a rich polish. The clock uses a robus t brass plate movement that is powered by two large springs which is much more un usual and desirable then the weight powered variety. Up for auction is an old vintage cuckoo clock. This clock has wood carved birds and leaves and is in real nice condition. The top piece attaches with two hooks as you can see in the pictures. The clock has both hands. 2 weights, and the pendulum. The cuckoo that comes out of the little door at the top looks like the top back might be broken off. It's hard to tell if it is supposed to be like that or if a little piece broke off. I tried to photograph that as well. Other than that, the clock is in great condition. There is some finish discoloration on the case especially on the underside. Looks like brass under the silver finish. The hands move to set the time, however, the clock does not seem to work. Made for the American market.the brass temperature plate gives the only clues with the impressed numbers for the Fahrenheit scale as well as the incised designations for Blood Heat, Sum'r Heat, Tempe Rate and Freezing levels. The porcelain dial shows areas of damage and loss at the hands arbor and winder areas. With copper showing through as the metal that the porcelain was applied too.numbers are still clear with original hands in place. Antique 19th cent. Ship's Wheel Metalieke Barometer Clock - Richard Paris Brass
Offered for auction is this lovely antique clock/barometer instrument with French Richard movement. The brand name seems to be a"Metalieke" Barometer. Shows gold metal and exhibition patents by mark for 1849 and 1851 respectively. Glass back shows brass movement. An inner mark reads(as best as I can tell) Compose 7171 Richard Paris and an outer mark reads"Richard Paris 211" There are screws that- when removed. Allow hinged glass front and back to be removed, but I have not done this. I do not have a proper clock key for this piece and hence I will not be fooling with any of the mechanisms ahead of sale. The writing on the barometer face is in Dutch and I would suspect that this may be a French company that marketed this instrument in different languages for different markets. Hardwood ships wheel style surround is the ... moresetting for the instrument itself. And it shows a brass ring inset into the hardwood pieces. One spoke of the ships wheel is loose and just needs a little glueing to put it right- no cracks or breaks here just loose. Extremely Rare Antique Kroeber No. 49 Regulator Wall Clock Unique Dial 100%
This is a extremely rare Kroeber Regulator No. 49 manufactured in the late 1800's. This clock is very hard to find. And not many were made, even less come up for sale. The case is solid walnut with it's original finish, complete with carved door over the dial, and hand carved crown, both the glass panes are also the original wavy antique glass. The case is missing the bottom piece, but most of these clocks are, everything else on this clock is in amazing condition. Complete these clocks bring upwards of $4,000! The movement and dial are both original to the case. The dial itself is extremely unusual, it's a heavy thick metal dial, with carved out and painted roman numerals and designs in the middle. Antique Collectible Seth Thomas Outside Bell Ship Clock Vintage with Label SHIPS
Up for auction. I have a vintage Seth Thomas ships clock. The clock is currently running and comes with what looks like the original key. The clock was painted at some point. I tried to remove a little off of the metal part of the case and it seems to have a chrome like finish underneath. The dial has wear. It still chimes, but it's very tinny. Not sure if thats how its supposed to sound, but if not, I'm sure the hammers just need to be adjusted. The glass on the front is broken as well. I can remove it before shipping if you want, but wasn't sure if removing it would effect the value, so I left it as is. Came from a local estate in Upstate New York. This antique thermostat is 8 5/8" tall. 2 1/2" wide and 2 5/8" deep. It has"2-5-26 13755-S" etched on the back of the clock. It is complete and everything is original with the exception of the 4 screws holding the front cover on. I'm pret ty sure they didn't use phillips screws back then. The alarm works. But the knobs for time set and winding are missing. I used needle nose to turn them once to see if it would wind. It does wind, but I didn't keep doing it for fear of messing something up. It is not marked and I cannot figure out how to remove the back so you can see inside. The back is hinged. Overall dimensions are 10 5/8" x 5" it is very heavy weighing over 2 1/2 pounds.The clock crystal is cracked and the clock is not working, it does seem to be wound tight. This clock has a beautiful case with claw feet. Carved pillars, a broken arch top with a center finial, and a heavy filigree metal dial ... moreface. It has triple chimes, and the moon dial face looks to be in great condition. It also has the large pendulum bob, a mahogany grillwork door, and a picture frame molded step out base. This is the kind of clock that everybody likes and I am guessing it dates from the 1930's-1940's. The overall size is 20 inches wide across the feet, and the base is 18 inches wide. The base cabinet is 13 inches deep, and84 inches high to the top of the finial. It has mahogany open grillwork on both sides, and the case is dark reddish-brown mahogany stained. Like all of our clocks, we will take this one down to our friend Ed Openshaw in Rumney, New Hampshire. He goes through the clocks from front to back, makes them work properly, fixes the bushings, lubes and greases them, cleans the gears, polishes it all up, and makes them run fantastic for a very long long time. This is a really stylish model, with a five-tube chime, triple weights, and in good condition. Antique / vintage Wayne Feed lighted tub clock - sign / light
Wayne Feeds lighted sign& clock. measures 49 1/2" x 14" x 5 3/4" deep. There is damage on this clock as well as the clock movement not working. When I first brought it home last week the clock worked a bit and hasn't worked since. I went in and checked the wiring but no corroded connections? Electric movement. The tub has a break on top around the screw hole for plastic tub. It is taped right now with clear tape. But remains pretty solid and tub screws down tightly. Alot of that is due to the fact that the broken piece also has the screw that attaches it to the side(black) plastic. The Wayne feeds part of sign is a seperate plastic sheet with print. It is somewhat brittle from light and heat. The edge is cracked and chipped with a small chip missing along right edge and another piece that had chipped off is taped on. ... moreThere is tape surrounding the chip for several inches and covering another crack. The clock backing also has a small crack with tape on it near upper left center. Large old feed sign/ clock for your consideration. Warm yellow glow with the aged tub. Solid steel backing and tub besides cracked on top is also solid. 2 holes in back steel for hanging, approx. 15 lbs, thank you
