AAFA/Old Paint/Square Nails/Sulky/Trotter/Box/Late18thCentury/Primitive/Original
This is a very rare find. This is a turn of the century piece in it's original old paint. This"Sulky Box" represents a time when racing colors were used instead of numbers. The back of the box was painted a solid color(in this case black) which identified the driver when on the racing circuit. The colored side faced the rear of the sulky. Each driver had his own color. Red. Green, blue, yellow etc.wich identified him. This particular box has a very old post card type picture with old brass tacks on the inside. This was obviously attatched a very long time ago. The box wears its original gray-green pewter paint. The back shows its original black paint. The box also has its vintage square nails. Box measures 8" x 8" x 12" Please see all 12 photos. EXCEPTIONAL EARLY ANTIQUE 19TH C FOLK ART ROOSTER WEATHERVANE - AAFA
I have decided to sell my“prized” rooster weathervane. I have had this vane for about 5 years and have enjoyed it every minute. It is now time for some else to enjoy it. This piece was bought from a private collection in Mass. I believe this rooster dates to the mid 19 th century. This piece has a wonderful form and great oxidation to the copper. The top of the piece down to the breast has a wonderful smooth surface from the rain and snow. The feathers are cut out and wrap around to the back of the bird they look 3D. Absolutely original and right! This piece measures including the stand 25” High 28.5” from beak to tail and the base measures approximately 16” long. This stand is included with the Rooster. This weather vane is 100% guaranteed to be antique. All original& untouched. The craftsmanship is second to none. It was hand made out of heavy guage hammered copper& retains an incredible& original blue/green verdigris patina. My guess on the age is early 1900's, but I'm not a weathervane expert& I've never had this looked at, so it could be earlier. Measures approx. 21.25" long x 6" tall. Not counting the solid copper rod, which is 3/8" thick& measures 11 3/8" long from the rusty metal washer. This ... morepiece has a charming design that includes a farmer in his hay filled wagon pulled by 3 draft horses that are being harassed by a dog with the farmers son walking behind carrying his hay sickle. The silhouette design was crafted out of heavy guage hammered copper sheet with a hand drill& jewelers saw. You can see the handwork upon close inspection. See photos. The design is very detailed& proportioned. It was expertly& securely attached to the flattened& tapered rod end by two copper rivets that were hand hammered. The only thing that is not copper is the rusty& pitted metal washer. Wonderful condition with some minor nicks& scratches. Some copper showing through in small areas, some slightly bent tips. No breaks& never cleaned. There are areas of dark oxidation mostly to the back side of design as seen in photos. The boys ankles show dark copper, I'm guessing where he was slightly bent& realigned. No stress cracks that I can find. The whole length of the pivot rod has a smooth worn finish with wear scratches from spinning& the end has been worn down smooth& rounded. Photos show accurate condition. I discovered this in a North Georgia a

HAND BLOWN YELLOW GLASS FLASK BOTTLE DECORATIVE ARTS AAFA
UP FOR SALE IS A HAND BLOWN BROKEN PONTAL YELLOW GLASS FLASK WITH DIMONDS AND DASIES 51/2 TALL
AAFA Victorian Miniature Collar Box with American Indian Engraving,1860s,Labels
Here is a beautiful and unusual little collar box for your Victorian or sewing collection. Dating to the 1860s. It measures only 3.25 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches in height and has a bright green glazed paper sides and top. The dark blue with gold trim label states, Massasoit Colla(r torn off) Persigny. Massasoit was an Indian leader, who I believe Massachusetts was named after. There is a wonderful steel engraving on the lid of an Indian with a tobacco leave flag(I think! There have been German text paper repairs to hold the lid together where it separated- three paper tabs that are quite sufficient due to the rag content of the old paper. The old paper label on the bottom has slipped in position, but holds a wealth of information on the'Union' collar company of New York with patent dates from 1854 to 1866. There was some old ... moremourning trim inside the box that will be included. I'm guessing these collars were for wrists or lace, due to the tiny size.

19th Century Country Box in Old Paint This is a grungy country primitive storage box with a lift top in great old gray paint. The color is not as green as in picture#1. Amazing & Antique Fire Starter & Candle Holder~ Primitive & Handmade~AAFA~
Here is a nice item for collectors of early Americana. Primitives, or AAFA- it's a handmade tin"fire starter/candle holder" from the 1800's. Please look at all of my pictures carefully as this item is VERY OLD, PRIMITIVE, w/WEAR! This item is tin and soldered together; it consists of the top piece with a place to hold a candle, the bottom piece which has the handle, and a center piece that would snuff out the flame(in the bottom. There are also the remenants of some grungy wick/tinder and a bit of stone for creating a spark-no flint though. It looks like a person would make the bit of fire in the bottom part. Light a candle and stick it in the top piece, extinguish the bottom fire with the middle piece, and then proceed to light other fires/candles around the house carrying the holder with the lit candle. This item measures ... more4 3/8" in diameter(without handle)handle sticks out another 15/16" it measures approx. 3 1/2" tall including the candle holder part. Again. Please see pictures carefully! There is all around grunge, some blackening inside, some rust, handle is very fragile, the remains of an old note(who it belonged to? can't make out anything on it! on the bottom, lots of corrosion, etc. Also, I left the bit of yucky tinder/wick and the stone inside as it shows how it was used. AAFA 1861 FINE ARTIST SIGNED SKETCH BOOK LANDSCAPES PORTRAITS NUMEROUS ART WORKS
AAFA 1861. FINE ARTIST SIGNED. SKETCH BOOK LANDSCAPES& PORTRAITS. NUMEROUS ART WORKS HAPPY SPRING! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DUE TO THE FACT THAT CAMERAS AND COMPUTERS HAVE COLOR VARIATIONS. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DIFFERENCES IN PICTURES VERSUS ACTUAL COLOR. WE TRY TO DESCRIBE THE ACTUAL COLORS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. ITEM: A fine artist drawing and sketch book which houses eight(8) scenic landscape drawings. Together with four(4) portrait sketches, three are after life, one is an exceptional Etrucsan soldier. Some are dated 1861. The artist name and titles are undiscernable to me. The first name is CHARLES. There is a middle name and a surname. I have photographed the signature for your review. Maybe this is a fine listed artist, not sure. ... moreAt the back is a later signature on the inside back cover and last paper page is GERTRUDE BROADHEAD. 1887. I do not see this name anywhere in the art works in the book, and believe therefore, has nothing to do with the sketches. The book itself is a marbelized hard board covers with bound sketch papers and tissue front each page. The book was found here in northern New Jersey. Near the New York border. The landscape drawings are quite good. All serene, and are done in graphite pencil. The portraits are also quite good, the best being the soldier. If I identify this artist along the way. I will post. I found an embossed unused line writing paper wiith CAREW CO. embossed watermark. This company is documented for manufacturing fine writing paper also known as CAREW LENOX BRAND. Was based in SOUTH HADLEY FALLS, MASS. For now, I will start the auction at $99.99, with no hidden reserve. Certainly all the works of art are worth more. Ebay allows twelve pictures. So not all the works of art are photographed. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. MEASUREMENTS: Sketch book: 10 1/2 in. wide. 7 1/2 in. tall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

AAFA Handmade and Painted All Original Gout Stool~Rose Head Nails~
Really beautiful old treasure! These were considered"medicinal" back in the day as they were used to take pressure off painful joints and such when seated. This is handmade as seen in the scroll work on the bottom edge and the graceful roll of the top and the original stenciling. Outside has rose head nails and the center portion which would have originally been covered with fabric sports what seem to be hand hewn nails as the heads are varying sizes as per pics# 6-7. I have always used this with the wood showing as the slats are interesting with their different hues of age. Does show age appropriate wear. But displays beautifully. Measures 16 X 11 x 7.
