Fine Egyptian Alabaster Bowl Circa 2500 BC Decorated
This is a very fine alabaster bowl from Egypt. Believed to be circa 2500 BC. It's in excellent condition with one or two chips on the rim, clearly made in antiquity. This bowl is delicately decorated along the rim. See photos for details and conditions. It is unquestinably a piece of genuine antiquity and was purchased from a reputable auction house. I will confirm precise measurements. For the moment, at a guess it's about 7cm high and 10 to 12cm wide. Shipping and handling within Australia: $20. Shipping and handling, including insurance, internationally: $40.

Illustrated Near Eastern Seals Mesopotamia Sumer Syria Turkey Iraq Iran b4 Islam
Interpreting The Past: Near Eastern Seals by Dominique Collon. DESCRIPTION: Softcover: 64 pages. Publisher: University Of California Press; 1991) A rich source of pictorial information about the Ancient Near East comes to us in the form of miniature reliefs. Created from the impressions made in clay by tiny engraved stone seals. Originally used for sealing goods and writing tablets, these seals now provide important evidence for administrative practices, technical development, and long-distance trade. The designs themselves record religious beliefs, mythical characters, architectural styles, musical instruments, festivals, sport, warfare, transportation, and fashions in dress. In this first comprehensive introduction to pre-Islamic Near Eastern seals, Dominique Collon discusses cylinder seals, a form unique to the Ancient Near East, as well ... moreas stamp seals, the earliest dating from the fifth millennium B.C. As a reflection of how their owners saw the world around them, Near Eastern seals are an essential tool for archaeologists in interpreting the past. CONDITION: New oversized softcover. Unblemished. Unmarked, pristine in every respect. Satisfaction unconditionally guaranteed. In stock, ready to ship. No disappointments, no excuses. PROMPT SHIPPING! HEAVILY PADDED, DAMAGE-FREE PACKAGING!
