Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

Unusual face of bearded man on handle, gold trim, blue fish scale look on upper part, painted flowers and leaves on lower, measures about 4 1/4" high, unfortunately this is not perfect, picture 4 shows the large chip on bottom edge, it has a hairline crack, a bit of the gold trim has worn off and it has crazing which may have been there in the manufacturing? Doulton Lambeth Rare Dog Handle Hunting Pitcher Antique English 6 3/4" tall
This is a lovely fine English pitcher. From the 1800's with applied figures. Around the plumpest part of the belly are horses, hunting scenes and dogs. The deep red iron oxide glaze glows orangy brown on the yellow clay of the stoneware body, while it changes to a nice ochre where the dip covered the figural decoration. The rare handle is applied, and is a wonderfully formed hunting dog. Condition of this beautiful pitcher is good with one small chip on the lip. And firing lines where the spout is joined which is typical in the manufacture of these pieces. The mark is"Doulton Lambeth England" This lovely English pitcher measures about 6 3/4" tall and about 71/2" wide. The set is c1900 Porcelain from the Boch company. This is pre Villeroy and Boch. See below for Wikipedia insert about the company. There is a chip on the underside of the lid to the Toothbrush holder. This is an antique from an old farmhouse. From pre-1940. It is embellished with gold on the flowers. Rim, and handle. There is some wear to the gold on the rim. There are no chips. Cracks, or crazing. The back is embossed with a different floral design(see pictures) It stands 2 3/8" tall x 2 3/4" across the top to the outer edge of the handle. Thanks for viewing! 19th century ceramic pitcher with frolicking cherub motif. Stands 4.25" tall. Base is 3.5" across. Hairline cracks across middle of bottom and a small chip on underside edge that is not noticeable when standing. A lovely old pieece for decoration or, with an insert, to use as a vase. It has no chips but does have a couple defects under the glaze on the bottom of the piece and also a defect inside at the top as shown in pics. Antique Lamberton Maddock Works Royal Porcelain Pitcher & Dish w lid 4 pieces
Beautiful old pitcher and dish with lid and insert. Stamped Lamberton Maddock Works Royal porcelain. Pitcher is a little more than 7 inches tall and about 5 inches wide through the middle. The dish has matching lid. Also stamped the same and some sort of round insert that can be removed plus matching lid all with nice heavy gold trim. Close to 100 years old. These pieces are elegant and quite expensive. I'm putting them out together at a lower than average price so that they can have a good home soon. I will also add a handling fee to have them professionally packed since they are delicate china and old and we don't want to take any chances with the post office.

This auction is for a Fantastic 4-Piece Victorian Red Transferware Pitcher and Wash Bowl Set made by C. Challinor& Co. of England in the late 1800s. The set is in the company's Beautiful and Rare Celtic Pattern. Which is a red transferware floral and repeating swirl pattern design with a neatly embossed or raised pointed ribbed pattern on the base of each piece. The set is in Very Good condition especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks in any of the pieces. The set consists of: A Wash Bowl or Basin. 14 1/2 inches across. A Large Pitcher. 12 inches tall. A matching Small Pitcher. 7 inches tall. A Uniquely Shaped Toothbrush Holder. 6 inches tall, with a neat drainage desig. The large pitcher has a dime-sized spot of extra porcelain on the side that was done in the firing process(see last photo) The small pitcher has a small ... moretoning mark on the back. The pieces have fine. Even crazing that is Hard to Spot. The Bowl has a C. Challinor Celtic Pattern England backstamp in red. C. Challinor operated in Fenton England for only a short. Four-year period between 1892 and 1896. This pattern is Ultra Rare. I have been unable to find any other pieces in this pattern anywhere online. 6-1/4" PENNSYLVANIA ESTATE EARLY REDWARE PITCHER JUG ODD SHAPED
Here is a very old redware jar/ jug/ pitcher with a non-round shape. It appears to have been shaped away from'round' for a particular. Unknown purpose. Perhaps to make the handle do its function better when pouring something like batter. It's glazed on the inside as well, but there is no glaze along the top rim. There are two incised rings about an inch below the top. Additional incisions are along the handle. The odd shape top is about 6" by 7" It has a nice sound when you pluck the bowl. I did not detect cracks, chips or hairlines. Glaze is in generally good condition.

It measures 4-1/2" H by 4-1/2" diameter at widest point, by 1" opening, and weighs 0.11.2 oz. CONDITION: This pre-owned pitcher is in very good condition; however. It shows mild signs of wear, i.e. barely visible due to porcelain coloring is one, tiny, pinpoint chip mid-pitcher.
