This is a magnificent late 18thc c substantial oak carved pediment with superb central dome with strap work carving and with scrolling and carved fruits. The attention to carved detail is really excellent with all of the carving in deep relief. Dimensions: 61" long x 12.25" height. Weight 4.595 unpacked. Small Rustic Primitive Carved Wood Pediment Piece Tree Shaped!
Small Rustic Primitive Carved Wood Pediment Piece Tree Shaped! I brought home a truck load of items from the auction last week. It was a farm estate. And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! I have no idea what this antique carved wood pediment came off of. But I loved the fact that it looks like a pine tree in shape to me(not that that was the original intention of the piece) it's loaded with primitive charm. Measuring just 5 1/4" tall, it is 1 3/8" widest and only 1/4" thick(maybe just a smidge under) There's 1 round small mounting holes about 1" down from the top, and then there's a sliver(about ... more1/4" long and very thin) of air space at the bottom- at the seam of where the two sides of the"trunk of the tree" come together, right on top of the round ball shape that is there- that's original to the making, I don't think it's meant as a mounting hole, but you could use it as one too if you had a small enough nail. I'm showing in photos 10-12 that the bottom corner edges of the"tree trunk" as well as the bottom left of the base perimiter rim of the trunk look as if they were once part of a larger piece- broken off from that piece, the edges in those spots are not smooth. It's reallyreallyreally hard to notice, though- you have to look for it to see. There's no structural issues- it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is dark and old- ranging from a medium brown to a dark brown on the front(and darker to almost black on the back) and I do think darker in person than the image on my screen in my photos(it's the light reflecting off of all the snow outside! It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. STUNNING Antique 1800s Hand Carved Wood Pediment Double Koi Fish WOW- went to my favorite flea market this weekend and found some awesome treasures for you- I’ll be listing all week. So keep checking! Well. If there was ever a listing where I just wanted to say nothing, and let my photos say it all, this would be the one. But I'm guessing you might want at least a little more details: so here goes. This is probably one of the most drop-dead-gorgeous antique pediment pieces I have sold. It literally stopped me in my tracks. Now, I don't know if these came off of a piece of furniture, or an architectural piece, but it has a 1" diameter hole in the center that I'm showing in photo 5, that goes all the way through, and I'm assuming that has something to do with what it once was, or how it was mounted. The piece is hand carved ... moreinto the imat of two Koi fish facing away from each other. On either end, in front of the Kois' mouths are grapes and leaves also hand carved. It weighs 6 1/4 lbs, and it is 21 1/4" long, 5 1/4" highest and 3 5/8" deepest. The back is flat, not carved, and the underside allows the piece to stand securely, upright and straight, as in my photos. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The patina is very very dark from age. I'm not 100% certain, but I THINK the wood may be oak- that's from looking at the backside, but it's dark and hard to see the grain, so please supersize and see what you think. The finish shows wear, and lots of alligatoring in certain spots, like I'm showing in photo 8. There's a couple of small nicks- on that I'm showing in photo 6- it's on a scale on the right fish and it looks newer as it's lighter. It's very shallow- at first, I thought it was just finish wear, but it's a shallow nick that measures 1/8" long. I'm showing another shallow chip that is on the underside of the piece in photo 8- on the end of the underside. It is either really old, or it may be original to the carving

Antique Architectural Salvage Pediment Hand Carved and Inlaid Floral Design
Description: Here is a gorgeous pediment that came from the estate of a well-to-do Hartford CT woman who loved to collect beautiful items. This item came from an upstairs storage closet with other antiques and architectural elements that the woman had bought in 1983 when she was planning on building a summer house on Long Island Sound. The invoice showed that she paid $450 for it over 30 years ago. Supposedly it had been carved and inlaid by a well known Connecticut carver but her niece could not remember who for sure. It appears to be carved from two layers of solid mahogany and then two pieces at either end appear to have been nicely inlaid with boxwood in a floral pattern. The carvings are deep and wonderfully done and you can even still see the chisel marks on the top edge which would not have been seen. There are all the usual marks. ... moreNicks and stuff you would expect to see on a piece of this age as well as a nibble from each end of the bottom. The color and glow of the patina is just first rate as you can tell from looking at my photos. Huge Vintage Hand Carved Pediment
I have up for auction this long pine pediment. It is 51" 3/4 inch's long. At it's widest point it is 6" 3/4 inch's. And is 3/4 inch's thick. This pc. is all solid, any lines you may see are just that carved lines, no cracks. I left the mounting blocks on the back and that increases it to 1" 1/2 inch's thick in those spots. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but will clean up nicely. The shelf along the top does not sit flush on the wall. ANTIQUE WALNUT VICTORIAN SPOON CARVED VINTAGE FRETWORK CORNICE FURNITURE PEDIMENT A lovely. Antique, Eastlake Victorian furniture pediment that appears to be made out of walnut. It has spoon carved decoration with has traces of gold still inside. There are spools that decorated each side and woodwork that looks like a crown. This lovely furniture pediment measures approximately 48" long x 6 1/4" high on each end and about 6 1/2" in the middle. There is about a 3" slope from the top flat part, down to the front of the spools. It appears that the blocks, in the middle next to the spools, were added recently. One of the points of the crown, in the middle, is missing and the scallop on one end is missing the top. A couple of other scallops have some damage to the wood that is not really that noticeable. There is a metal ring ... moreon each side for hanging, two screws in the back that were probably used to attach it to a piece of furniture, and the front has two nails in the wood, where someone must have hung something. One of the spools has a broken part that was probably done when the new block was added(not noticeable) Despite the flaws, this is still a very beautiful, antique, Victorian Cornice that will look great being hung and enjoyed. Beautifully detailed antique carved wood pediment- measuring 42" wide and 12" at the highest point in the center. It is about 4" deep- has ledge on bottom back. It has a basket with fruit decoration in the middle. Outstanding 1870's period Highly Carved Walnut Pediment
Up for auction is a sweet Victorian Pediment that has been further embellished with a Victorian period Roman Soldier Soldier. This pediment will make quite an impressive room greater with its wonderful old age espresso colored Walnut and burled veneers. Pediment is in excellent condition. Pediment is 44" wide at bottom and 48" wide at the top. Inside dimensions are 39"10/16" wide x 14" tall. Pediment is 23" tall to the ends and 4.5" deep at ends. The center statue adds another 2" of bump-out for about 6.5" of dimensional quality. If this is on the top of a door header you will need 17.5" of space above the door opening to fit this piece. Victorian Era Mahogany Carved Pediment
Up for auction is very long 61" long Victorian Era Mahohany Pediment. Pediment would make a great doorway header. Pediment is 61" long x 56.25" opening. It is 12.5" tall x 3.75" deep. If this piece is wanted for flat mounting. The thick cap would need to be removed and trimmed or reattached with a greater overhang on the front end. This is a superb mid 19thc gothic oak wood pediment with the head of the Green Man centrally carved and in fine relief. Dating c.1860. The attention to carved detail on this pediment is excellent. Superb and fine quality gothic carving of the Green Man with ornate scrolled to either side. Excellent depth and detail to the Green Man with facial details beautifully carved and with mouth wide open. Fine facial expression to this head. Measures 8.5" max height x 21" overall length. This is a superb 19thc Black Forest oak carved pediment with fine stag head with antlers to centre. The attention to carved detail on this fine pediment is excellent with the carving in relief.
