This old Stoneware Hayner Whiskey Jug has been sitting in my father’s basement for at least the last 55+ years and was covered in dust and as you can see by the pictures it has not been cleaned. Other than the dirt the jug is in great condition with no cracks. Chips or repairs. It measures about 11 inches tall and is 6 5/8 inches in diameter at the base. The front reads HAYNER LOCKBOX 290 DAYTON OHIO and it has ES&B in raised letters on the bottom. 1920 brought in the beginning of Prohibition and the end of the Hayner Distilling Company and their Mail Order Whiskey business. This 2Gal. RI Merchant Jug is a real eye-catcher! I have always assumed that Horseshoes should face upward for Luck. And questioned why Edward Smith, a successful 19thC. Pawtucket Liquor Distributer, would use such a logo on his products. I then realized that the Horseshoe quickly orients itself in the proper manner when its contents are poured! A brilliant design, to say the least. In addition to the stenciled Cobalt Advertising, this Jug is also clearly impressed on the shoulder: F.T. WRIGHT& SON, STONE WARE, TAUNTON, MASS. with the 2Gal. capacity mark just below. I would date this to around 1870, based on the stamp. The overall condition is outstanding, considering its intended use. There is a shallow flake on the base, and two nicks on the spout; otherwise Mint. It is a 1 gallon shoulder/whiskey jug. It has the maple leaf logo on the front. The jug is about 10.5 inches tall and just under 7 inches in diameter. It was preowned but was very well taken care of. I see a few shallow chips on the front rim(where the white portion begins) There is a 3 inch rough section along the rim on the back, as well as a small hairline crack. There is a small spot on the mouth of the jar where it wasn't completely covered with the brown glaze. I believe any other imperfections I see are only production flaws. I have two vintage whiskey jugs. Brown on top and beige on bottom. I cannot find any kind of markings on them. I think they may be 5 gallon judging by the measurements of others that look similar on eBay. They measure approximately 15 inches tall by a 10 inch diameter. Large and heavy. I have a 10 lb. scale and each is over on that so I am unsure as to the exact weight. Will update when possible. I cannot find any cracks, there is one chip on the botton of one jug as pictured.

Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. Slight lighter brown kiss mark haze near bottom due to uneven firing in the making. Lyons Whiskey Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Snake and three XXX in Black The jug is either 1 or 2 gallons. It is 13 ½ inches tall 24 inches at widest point and 18 inches at least wide area. It has a cobalt snake with Lyons above in cobalt blue. The back has three large XXX in black that I just found out was added later. And can be removed. There is small surface chip at the very bottom not very noticable and some light staining from age. This jug is very heavy. It still has the wooden plug.

The glazing on top is of brown swill. the bottom portion glazed in off white. Appears to be a two piece molded handle being put on after the jug mold and then glazed. Shows very little wear and observed no scratches couple of dings here and there check the picture. A few pin tip glaze flaws as you would expect. This whiskey jug was in my grandparents garage for years. It is a gallon ju g made of heavy stoneware ceramic with a glass like salt glaze on the top and inside. There are no markings. The jug has a carved wooden stopper. The glaze is unusual in that the color is not as brown as other jugs like it. Stoneware Crock Whiskey Jug This is a great dark brown crock jug. It is hand made and drip glazed in very good condition. SIZE: It measures approx. 10" high by 7 1/2" wide. It has the letter"B" stamped near the bottom below the handle.SEE PHOTOS) CONDITION: There are a few areas of glaze pop and a other imperfections on the surface of the glaze.which is a natural occurring process that happens during the firing of the piece. Vintage Brown Jug Stoneware 1 Gallon Earthenware Whiskey Pottery
Here is a spectacular 1 gallon size stoneware brown jug. Four scribe lines around the top edge give crispness. The neck is precisely formed. The attachment of handle to the jug shows purpose and care. Two tendrils of glaze add character. This is a very well made piece. The jug is 12 inches tall. And 7 inches in diameter at the bottom, and slightly wider at the top. It is sturdy and structurally well made. The bottom 8 inches is glazed clear, with the natural color of the clay showing through. The top is dip glazed in a rich chocolate brown. Up for sale is a very nice stoneware whiskey jug in excellent condition. There are no cracks. Repairs or crazing. Only issues I see is a small area where the glaze has built up and a couple small chips in the brown glazing that can be seen in the pictures. Please see the pictures for actual condition as they are part of the description. I do believe this stoneware jug is a one gallon and was made prior to 1950. The bottom is a little faded but is marked R.C.P Co. Akron Ohio. Dimensions are 12"H X 6-1/2"W and weighs nearly 5 lbs. If you have any questions or would like more pictures, please let me know. NY, this item is in remarkable and beautiful condition. Looks like it came right out of the kiln By 1902 after many business mergers. The Robinson Clay Product Co. began producing many diversified products. Including jugs I've seen these types referred to as whiskey jugs. But other than the 1/2 gal mark beneath the glaze. There is nothing to bear that out here She measures 9"H by 5 1/2 diameter and weighs 3 lbs 4.4 oz. There are no cracks. Chips, fractures, and the glaze is shiny like new The bottom is unglazed and the lettering is stamp indented into the ceramic material. Vtg STONEWARE CROCK WHISKEY MOONSHINE 1 gal JUG 2-tone 11-3/4" tall
Moonshine jug in good condition. 6-1/2" diameter at base, 2 tiny chips on inside edge of lip, crackling in light tan glaze on lower half, and some drip mark hazing of surface of dark brown upper half, otherwise any other scrapes, dings, bumps dimples or other surface irregularities on this jug are from the forming process! No makers marks found anywhere on this, but close inspection does seem to show indications of hand-forming around the neck and bottom of handle/loop. Antique vintage brown salt glaze stoneware whiskey jug one handle
This is a smallish dark brown stoneware jug. 6 1/2 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches across at the base. Condition is gently used. No chips or cracks. There are some little bumps and flaws in the glaze, as is usual with this type of stoneware.

Up for your bidding consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made in the USA. On the front in gold is a crest with words that appear to be Latin. Under the crest it says in gold Spring'71. It is approximately 10" tall and 5 1/4" across the bottom. There are no chips. Cracks, or signs of repair. There are a few scuff marks on the bottom, the cork has a chip out of it, and on the brown stoneware there is tape residue and on the tape it apparently said 100.
