As pediment crests go. There is no finer one than this. It is finely carved exhibiting grace and balance throughout its design. It is as if it"caresses" whatever it rests on or above. The grape motif would lend itself well to a winery, restaurant, etc. It is 33.75" x 8" x 3/8" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects.

This is GoRgEoUs! My photos don't do this piece justice. It measures just over 37" wide and stands about 7 1/4" high. It would be beautiful hung above a door. Piece of furniture, mirror, etcetera. Went to the flea market, and still have some items from the weeks ago farm estate auction- there’s lots of neat stuff that you don‘t want to miss! The mighty oak is one of my favorite trees. So I never pass up a gorgeous old acron or oak leaf. This piece- I think that it is made of both iron and steel. It's an old architectural piece, and I'm not sure exactly what it was, but it reminds me of the old stair balusters- like the kind that you'd find on the front steps going up to the door with the rail. There's a heavy/thicker outside frame that I do believe is iron. It's made from two long pieces, each having one"finger" for lack of a better word that ... moresticks out at the short end- so one finger on each end, and the fingers are 2 1/2" long- clearly once used to connect to whatever they connected to. Then, inside the iron frame, you have another frame that is attached- running the perimeter of the iron frame, it has the decorative design of oake leaves and acorns on the inside. This piece, I think is steel- and I don't know if it's cast, or pressed, but my guess is pressed into shape because you can see the details of the leaves/acorns on both sides of the piece- but there's clearly a front side and a backside. I'm showing you fist the front side details and then the backside details in my photos. The frame measures 19 1/2" long(not including the fingers- just under 25" long in total including the fingers) by 7 3/8" wide. You can see that the two sides of the frame are not attached at the ends- see photo X. I think that this is not original, I think that this may have occured(and it's like this on both sides) when the piece was removed from whatever it was attached to before. You can push on those two open spots and get them to move slightly back and forth. It doesn't affect the center

Huge Vintage Hand Carved Pediment

I have up for auction this long pine pediment. It is 51" 3/4 inch's long. At it's widest point it is 6" 3/4 inch's. And is 3/4 inch's thick. This pc. is all solid, any lines you may see are just that carved lines, no cracks. I left the mounting blocks on the back and that increases it to 1" 1/2 inch's thick in those spots. This furniture part or topper. Pediment etc is old but I have no date. Otherwise it is in excellent condition; wood appears to be black walnut, chestnut, or similar type dark hardwood. Size is 27" long by 4 inches high. About 1 inch thick. I bought this in New England for a project and know nothing other than the above about this piece. Blue paint looks like a recent addition, I think this piece would be much prettier stripped and refinished to show off the nice wood.

ANTIQUE WALNUT VICTORIAN SPOON CARVED VINTAGE FRETWORK CORNICE FURNITURE PEDIMENT A lovely. Antique, Eastlake Victorian furniture pediment that appears to be made out of walnut. It has spoon carved decoration with has traces of gold still inside. There are spools that decorated each side and woodwork that looks like a crown. This lovely furniture pediment measures approximately 48" long x 6 1/4" high on each end and about 6 1/2" in the middle. There is about a 3" slope from the top flat part, down to the front of the spools. It appears that the blocks, in the middle next to the spools, were added recently. One of the points of the crown, in the middle, is missing and the scallop on one end is missing the top. A couple of other scallops have some damage to the wood that is not really that noticeable. There is a metal ring ... moreon each side for hanging, two screws in the back that were probably used to attach it to a piece of furniture, and the front has two nails in the wood, where someone must have hung something. One of the spools has a broken part that was probably done when the new block was added(not noticeable) Despite the flaws, this is still a very beautiful, antique, Victorian Cornice that will look great being hung and enjoyed. Beautiful Vintage Carved Wood Pediment Angel or Cherub in Center Over Door? I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! This is a beautiful piece. What I have is a vintage carved wood pediment- with carved scrolls and what appear to be tulip flowers and what I believe to be either an angel or a cherub in the center. With rays around its head. This is a piece that can stand alone- but you could certainly hang it on a wall too, if you wanted to add hardware to do so. I'm showing in several photos that the back piece is actually made up of two pieces of wood(you can see the seam at the back, and under the face, ... moreit's hard to notice really anywhere, though, unless you are looking for it) and the face is applied to the top of the backpiece. It's hard to tell for sure, as there are no spots of finish wear to see with any certainty, but I do believe that the face is made from wood also. It feels and thunks like wood to me, but please supersize my photos and see what you think. It is painted a creamy white color(not white white, it has more cream to it than white-white) and you can see at the back that there appears to be a former color of gold on the piece- that's lots of peeks of the gold at the back, but not at the front. There are small spots of finish wear on the front of the piece- hence the"shabby" in my title, but they are small- there's no large spots of finish loss. The back was not ever painted for show, but you can see that it has some paint on it, both the white and the gold. The piece measures 32 1/2" long, 5 7/8" tallest at the center and the wood is 1" at its thickest on either end, and 2 1/2" thick at the face part- from the very back to the highest point on the face. Lovely Old Vintage Carved Solid Tiger Oak Wood Standing Pediment Piece or? I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! This one has more questions than answers for me! Of course. What caught my attention about it right away, was the beautiful tiger graining of the oak- my favorite wood. Also, I'm calling it vintage, but I do think that it could be old enough to be antique, finally, what da-heck is it? I'm calling it a pediment, but did it used to be a part of a furniture, or architectural piece? I don't know, it will be for you to decide! Now, I want to point out that the oak base that it is attached ... moreto on the front I do not think is original. I think that was added later so that the piece can stand on its own- and it does, while on a flat surface- I had to take if off of my rug to show you(hence, the photo on my sidewalk) as the rug was too bumpy for it to stand independently. The wood is solid, not veneer, and you can see the quartersawn graining at the back too. The piece has simple hand carved details that have been painted(on the insides and borders) in a dark red. I see peeks of the red on the sides of the piece too, but it's quite worn in many spots on the side, so it's only in peeks- you see more of the wood underneath, there. I did notice that the insides of the two cutouts in the piece either were once all red, as I think the sides were, or they were left unfinished and you can see some of the border red on the cutouts- it's hard to tell for sure, and you have to be up looking inside the cutouts to notice- that's what I was trying to do for you in photo 13. The piece is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The finish is a semi gloss varnish, and you can see spots of wear to that and the stain- very minor. I'm showing in photos 8& 9 tha

Architectural Salvage Eastlake Pediment Carved /Appliqued Oak Vintage Decorative

This is an Eastlake-style pediment and my best guess is that it's off a dresser or a mirror. It is carved and the arch is an applique. The oak has no stain or varnish left on it and is quite lovely in that it's survived to find a new use as a decorative wall hanging. It is 22" long. 7" high and a little more than an inch thick.

Hi there, This item is a really cute. Vintage, architectural pediment of some type. It appears to be made of cast iron and is dark green in color with a spray of pink, blue, and white flowers across the top. It has rust spots in several areas across the front and back which truly add to the vintage, shabby-chic" style. It is approximately 7 inches high, 6 inches wide at longest point, and 1/2 inch thick across at the base. There are two holes close to the top where you can put screws or nails if you want to hang it on a wall. These nice looking pieces were part of the lobby from a Boston Building built in the 1920's that was renovated and was not longer needed. Building was in the neoclassical style. Vintage Pediment Fronton Wall Above Door or Bed architectural salvage This is a nice Pediment Fronton wall decor. It is in great condition with a few scratches and nicks. Looks like there was a small piece on the bottom of the Bulls Eye that has been glued back in place. Bulls Eye also has a crack coming off the small nick on right side. Please refer to the pictures. I took close ups of the flaws. They are minor and are barely noticeable. The design is really nice with a bulls eye center and scalloped edge on top. Hand carved design on both sides and cut outs along the bottom. If you are into Shabby Chic this piece would look awesome painted in distress white.
