The top has carved panels on ... morethree sides. The shaft is fluted with carvings in the center and ornate corner moldings. The base is notched for the step but is freestanding. It is 47 inches tall. 7.5 inches square at the base and 6 square at the shaft. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Incredible antique boxed newel post with a pointed dome finial. Dating from the early 1900s. The understated body of this box newel is crowned with a dome which features a beautifully carved foliate pattern; the repeating design is also found on a convex band around the newel's midsection. Directly below the midsection is a segment of grooved detailing. The newel is a stained brown wood and is in good antique condition with some chips and wear as shown. Splendid Antique Walnut Boxed Newel Post, c. 1890’s NNP33
This is a wonderful antique boxed newel post in walnut. Dating from the 1890’s. The newel begins with a cap with a flat top. Below, the newel post is accented with roundels, followed by a bead-and-reel pattern on the corners of the newel. The sides are ornamented with simple fluting. This box newel post is in very good antique condition, with one crack on the back of the post(pictured) and some very minor chips and dings. The newel is 56 ¼” tall and 8 ¾” wide. Antique Carved Oak Newel Post Architectural Salvage Plant Stand This is a great antique oak stairway piece out an old mansion. We think it was salvaged in the early 70’s and has been stored in a garage. It has fantastic carving and details. The Newel Post that is 26 ½ inches tall. Base is 9 ½ inches across and the top is 6 ½ inches across on the largest side. There are a couple of chipped places. One is at the very top and is about 2 ½ inches and the other is 1 ½ inches on a top rung. Please see pictures) This piece has beautiful grain to the wood and has been left in original condition no to very little varnish remains. It would really make a nice fern/ plant stand. Vintage Antique Pine Newel Post Cannon Ball Old Varnish Finish 4 3/4" x 40"
For your consideration is a vintage pine newel post. The post is 4 3/4" square x 40" tall. As shown. The post retains the original varnish with paint spatters here and there. The original configuration had hand rails coming into two sides of this post.so like an"L" There are nail holes and no varnish in these areas. There is a small chip in one of the turned rings on the ball top, as shown in the last photo. Estate fresh and in as found condition, there are dings and scratches as should be expected. Description This is a nice newel post that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and was painted but has been stripped. The top of the post has carved flowers on three sides with nice Victorian details below. The shaft has Eastlake Spoon Carvings on three sides. There is a flower pot with vines and flowers. There is a cut out for the step at the bottom but is freestanding. The total measurements are 46.25 inches tall by 7.75 inches square at the base and 6 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. It needs a final finish sanding and it needs a finial. It consists of a multi turn newel post and two matching banister posts. They are in the original varnish finish and they came right off the staircase. In shiny condition, but you will definitely want to plug the holes where the rails went in it and finish off the sides. Also where the staircase it has been cut out and around, but everyone does their own adaptations. The newel post has an approximately 6 inch block. The size of the block on top of the newel post is 6 inches. The banisters have a 4 inch block and ball. The height is approximately 54 inches on the newel post and 52 inches on the banister post. You are getting all three for one money. I have seen these sell for all kinds of money from some of the higher price dealers, but we are reasonable on this sort of thing. This is a gorgeous antique solid crystal finial for a newel post. In the traditional acorn style. It is quite large at about 8.5" tall with base and 5" wide. The solid brass base is about 2" x 2" and is in excellent condition. The crystal has one very small chip near the top and some teeny scratches(hardly visible. There are also some small particles suspended inside the solid crystal. The finial weighs 10 pounds.

Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is painted. The cap is not original. The top has carved flowers on 3 sides. The shaft is fluted with another carved flower in the middle. The corners have beveled edges. The base is notched for the step but it is freestanding. It measures 47.25 inches tall. It is 8 inches square at the base and 6.5 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Antique chestnut wood newel post 48" tall historic vintage architectural salvage
Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted white. It has it's original cap which is unpainted. 3 sides have fluting on the shaft. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 46.25 inches tall. 7 inches square at the base and 5.75 square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but should clean up nicely. There are some nail holes here and there and a few chips at the bottom. Please look at the pictures carefully. Vintage Antique Newel Post Repurpoused Wood Column Pedestal Banister Stair Case
Antique Vintage Newel Post. Was told by the person I purchased it from that it came from a pre 1900's farm house that was torn down recently. He also told me that it was oak and believes it to be the original finish. It's in really good condition for being a hundred plus years old. There are a couple of blemishes from where it was attached to the rest of the railing including one crack at the bottom. All blemishes are pictured. I will also remove all of the nails that are in the piece prior to shipping. I just wanted to show it in its barn found state. Antique ARCHITECTURAL Salvage Oak NEWEL POST with Old Chippy White Paint Size: 45 3/4" tall x 8" x 8" overall(all measurements are approximate) Description: This whimsical antique newel post will add architectural interest to your home- the possibilities are endless. These are often seen only in decorator magazines and are hard to find. Even in antique stores. This is out of a Victorian mansion in the Los Angeles area. This one is wonderful and heavy with nice thick moldings and a whimsical details. The old white paint is all perfectly time worn. Shabby and chippy. You can see the original oak wood underneath in the photos, in places where the paint is worn off. It has been indoors for all of it's life so there is no dry rot that I sometimes see on wood that has been out in the elements. Though the paint is chippy and worn ... moreit is not'shedding' as some others are. There are carved wooden ribbon applique details on 3 sides- so romantic! Please see the photos of showing the cut out notches on the bottom of the back side. They are pretty much all this way when they are removed from a stairway(see last two photos) This could easily be filled in with some old wood or you can just turn that side toward the wall as I have. Even with the notched-out area on the base it still stands alone and is quite sturdy. There is also a rough area near the top on the back side where it was removed from the banister. There are a few minor age splits on the surface of the wood that are tight and do not distract- just adds to its character. This one is flat on the top which is nice to use to display a statue or other objects.
