Vintage Drexel Mahogany 5 Drawer Chest
Here is a great example of the beauty and quality that Drexel builds into their furniture. The fluted. Angled corners and graceful kneed bracket feet really enhance the classic elegance of this piece. This 5 drawer chest is in overall very good condition. All of the drawers have tight dovetails and operate smoothly. There are a couple of issues on the top including a split that is a few inches long and some small dark spots that are clustered together. While noticeable, these spots are greatly exagerated by the camera. They could be repaired without too much difficulty. I found this item while sorting through an estate on Sanibel and fell in love with it. It has Wonderful eye appeal and has a very captivating essence about it. The Chest is large and VERY HEAVY 20-25+ lbs and has a Mahogany core. I'm not to sure of what type of material the outside is composed of. Though I am fairly certain it is a different material. The chest eloquently lofts an inch off the ground suspended on Bronze Water-Buffalo Horns. One of the legs appears to have been jarred, marked by position of one of the screws; however, it doesn't dilute the integrity of the structure or design. "Harmony House" Cedar Chest with Lock. Sears Roebuck. Vintage 1950s 1960s.
Travel back in time with this vintage"Harmony House" cedar chest. Harmony House" was a Sears Roebuck line of home furnishings from about 1940 to 1968. There were eighteen different color schemes with a color wheel to allow color matching. Some of the colors were pretty groovy. Like aquamarine and chartreuse. Measuring about 40" by 17-1/2" by 21-1/4" tall, this is a big cedar chest. The inside is all cedar, the outside has a light oak or pine veneer finish. The inside is in great condition. The fold out tray is lined with green felt and works well. It still has the cool"Harmony House" paper insert in the inside top. On the outside, there are a small chips off the edges of the veneer on the bottom that aren't particularly noticeable. The four legs do unscrew. It is a lovely vintage piece that I haven't ... moreable to precisely date. It is mid-20th century, 1950s or 1960s. It doesn't have the key for the lock. If you want a key, I can get one made for $20 at the local locksmith. Just let me know. The outside is made to look as if it is a two drawer dresser, but it is a locking chest. A great vintage Leather Toy Box or Chest. It could even be used as a Foot Stool with storage inside. It measures approx 27" w x 15" d x 16" h. It is an awesome dark green with studded tacks along the edge. It is constructed with wood and then the covering. Very solid. The lid has a chain to hold it in place when it is open. There are 3 small slits that were covered with tape that I removed and the residue is still there, I know they can be repaired. MID-CENTURY COUNTRY CEADER CHEST. What I have here is a Lane ceader chest that was built in 1963. I found this in a garage when I was buying wood door and trim boards in Poland ohio. It has been totaly rebuilt or refinished. the old brown colored finished that was used in the 60's was removed and restained with a Natural cherry then four coats of saten poly was hand applied. The feet were broken. I removed them and made new ones panted them gloss black along with the bottom trim. The brass handles were scrached and very dirty. I sanded them with 220 and painted to match the feet. The recalled latch has been replaced with one sent by lane and It works great the key is with it. It has the original two keys in original plastic. This particular highboy is special. It has the additional SPNEA label. It was handcrafted in July of 1987. It drawers are of dovetailed construction and the fronts of two of them have shell carving. The dimensions are 39"L by 21"D by 86"H. Freight is extra and the responsibility of the buyer.
