Gorgeous and perfect antique rosary and locket case features a guilloche plaque enameled in a pale blue with pink roses. The case is sterling silver stamped on the inside. The back has an engraved monogram"EMR" or"ERM" Inside is nestled a rosary; It seems to be sterling as well but there are no stamps or markings that I can see. The enameling is in perfect condition with no damage whatsoever. The case is also perfect. No dings or dents, just gentle wear consistent with age. The jump ring at the top also seems to be original to the piece. Locket measures 1 1/16" high and 5/16" thick. Rosary is 20 3/4" long. The beads are not too small for older fingers. Just the perfect size. The Ave beads measure 6mm and the pater beads measure 8mm and have Lacey sterling bead caps. Both are made from beautiful authentic mother of pearl. 18 1/2 inches long. Chain and all metal parts are sterling silver. I have been told that the shell that this mother of pearl rosary was made from is no longer harvested because it is an endangered species. This rosary. It so reminded me of the one my mom used to pray before Mass-with the beautiful faceted crystals that spray rays of color when reflected by the high church ceiling lights. I remember being mesmerized by it when I was a child. But enough nostalgia. This is a unique rosary in that the beads are not the typical round faceted beads-they are multi-faceted. And sort of triangular or pear-shaped measuring 8.89 mm at the top. AND.they are NOT just cut glass-they are rock crystal, a form of natural quartz, as tested on the Presidium gem tester.
