I have been the owner of this Reliquary since 2004. According to the information I received with it. Relics identified by the seller include the True Cross, Boniface, Martyrs of Gorkum, Constantia, Paul the Apostle and Barbara. Hi. This is a relic/reliquary containing an Agnus Dei. And it has also been touched to the True Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. It measures 1" X 3/4" One side has the words AGNUS DEI, and the other, in French, TOUCHE A LA VRAI CROIX, or Touched to the True Cross. After Vatican 2, NO NEW AGNUS DEIS HAVE BEEN CONCECRATED. This is a shame, as the Agnus Dei is a powerful SACRAMENTAL, in the same category as holy water and blessed palms. The history of the Agnus Dei: Agnus Dei means Lamb of God. And is the name given to certain wax discs upon which are impressed the figure of a lamb, and the blessing of which, actually a consecration, is reserved to the reigning Supreme Pontiff. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. FANTASTIC RUSSIAN RELIQUARY of VIRGIN MARY JOSEPH& HOLY CROSS Presented is a fabulous reliquary with original box. The reliquary is for Joseph. The Virgin Mary, and the Holy Cross. The contents appear to be two splinters with the label'Lig. S. Crucis. presumably for Lignum Sanctae Crucis, wood of the Holy Cross. Beneath this is a piece of cloth with the label'Cap. B. Mry. V. presumably for Cap Beatae Mariae Virginis, Cap is an abbreviation for'hair' Beneath that is a collection of fibers, labeled'Pal. S. Josephi' presumably for Pallium Sancti Josephi, the woolen cloak of Joseph. The reliquary itself has a thorned design around the exterior, reminiscent of the Crown of Thorns. The backing for the relics is blue cloth of some kind, with various ... moregold and silver adornments. This is a Russian piece, imported for retail in London in the early 1900s. The lid of the box has'Russian Work' inside in Russian. As well as Noble& Co, Dewar House, 11 Haymarket, London. The reliquary is in great shape. The glass has no chips. No cracks, no problems whatsoever. The box is in good shape and has done a great job of protecting the reliquary. We can see the glue where the hair was originally affixed, but the hair does not appear to be affixed to the glue at this time. It is very possible that the hair has moved to another part of the reliquary, as it may have been quite small, but we cannot verify either way for sure. The reliquary is a polished brass 2 piece reliquary thats gold in color. The back cover has a beautiful rendering of the Virgin Mary of the Miraculous Medal. I date this relic to about 1878-1880. The relic measures about 1 1/8' long. And about 7/8" wide. The condition is excellent. The back displays the Franciscan red seal in wax of Jesus' arm and Saint Francis' arm, crossed. Large Antique 8" x 4" Ebony & Plated Brass Crucifix Cross with 6 Relics Inside
This auction is for an unusually large Crucifix with six relics inside. It is made of nickel plated brass(I think) and ebony wood and it measures about 8" tall and about 4 1/4" wide. Unfortunately only two of the relics are still marked'Dominique" and"Therese" On another one there is a patial name that has wedged behind the relic holder frame. The other three are unmarked. The loop at the top of the cross is a little bent out of shape, but it is in good overall original condition otherwise with no serious damage. It is a substantial piece with a finely detailed Corpus Christi figure and quality construction. Low minimum bid! No reserve auction!

Hi. This is a very very special multi reliquary from Italy. Circa 1740-1770. The most important and rare relic is from the SPONGE that the Roman soldier used to give Jesus vinegar and gall during the crucifixion, after Jesus said"I thirst. The account of Jesus receiving a sponge soaked in vinegar or sour wine while on the cross appears in all four of the gospels, Mark 15:35-36, Mathhew 27:47-48, Luke 23:36-37 and John 19:28-30. Most bible scholars consider this an act of mercy on the part of the Roman Soldier, who was not named in the bible accounts, but has been called Stephaton since before the year 600 AD. Saint Anastasia, Saint Valentine, Saint Crescentia and a small piece of an Agnus Dei. Wax seal and threads are intact. You are bidding on the cross, the relics are a gift to the highest bidder. Agnus Dei The name Agnus Dei has been given to certain discs of wax impressed with the figure of a lamb and blessed at stated seasons by the Pope. They are sometimes round. Sometimes oval in diameter. The lamb usually bears a cross or flag, while figures of saints or the name and arms ... moreof the Pope are also commonly impressed on the reverse. These Agnus Deis may be worn suspended round the neck, pieces placed in relic crosses, or they may be preserved in whole as objects of devotion.
