Antique Vintage Primitive 2 Tone Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug/Lamp Hand Painted
This is a wonderful old brown top salt glazed whiskey jug measuring approximately 11 inches tall and a diameter of approximately 7 inches. The jug has no cracks but does have a few chips. 4 around the ledge of the jug, 2 of which are not that noticeable because they are located almost right on the ledge and blend in very well. The other two are just below the ledge(see picture 3) This jug also has a small hole drilled at the bottom of the back side for an electric cord(see picture 3) to be used as a lamp. The front side of the jug has an hand painted apple motif. Some of the paint has rubbed off but again does not in any way take away from the beauty of this jug and in fact would be expected for the age. The handle is perfect and the jug has had no repairs. There are some manufacturers defects(see picture 4) the most apparent which looks ... morelike a dent. I think it enhances the charm of this old jug. A beautiful jug for any collector or for decorative purposes.

It is a 1 gallon shoulder/whiskey jug. It has the maple leaf logo on the front. The jug is about 10.5 inches tall and just under 7 inches in diameter. It was preowned but was very well taken care of. I see a few shallow chips on the front rim(where the white portion begins) There is a 3 inch rough section along the rim on the back, as well as a small hairline crack. There is a small spot on the mouth of the jar where it wasn't completely covered with the brown glaze. I believe any other imperfections I see are only production flaws. This listing is for: a salt glaze jug manufactured by the Macomb Pottery Company of Macomb. Ill. They were in business from 1882-1941 so this is a very old piece. This jug is in fair condition. It's quite worn and shows it's age. There are many scrat ches. Chips and some areas where the glaze has come off and is missing(created small holes in the top glaze) The bottom has quite a lot of scratches and chipping. The name is very difficult to read but visible in the right li ghting. There is a crack going up the side of the ju g but doesn't affect it's structure. A couple of chips along the bottom edge, and one hairline crack along one edge that doesn't go around the bottom or up into the glazed area. I've had this for 20" years and there is been no change in the crack. Stoneware Crock Whiskey Jug This is a great dark brown crock jug. It is hand made and drip glazed in very good condition. SIZE: It measures approx. 10" high by 7 1/2" wide. It has the letter"B" stamped near the bottom below the handle.SEE PHOTOS) CONDITION: There are a few areas of glaze pop and a other imperfections on the surface of the glaze.which is a natural occurring process that happens during the firing of the piece. Other than that.This jug is in very good solid condition. All in all the condition of the glaze just adds to it's over all charm I do not have the slightest idea of it's age or maker. Vintage Stoneware Crock Jug - 2 Tone Brown/Tan & Off White
Vintage stoneware crock jug. The jug is a 2 tone brown/tan and off white. The jug is approximately 11" tall and 6 1/2" in diameter(measured on bottom) tape measure shown in photos as well. The jug is not perfect and does have some wear but just adds to the character of the piece. I tried to capture all main wear in the attached photos. There are some chips along bottom edge. An area of crazing on one side, a couple stoneware imperfections on one side in the brown area(doesn't look to be chips- looks to be be from when made) I have found no cracks. Here is a spectacular 1 gallon size stoneware brown jug. Four scribe lines around the top edge give crispness. The neck is precisely formed. The attachment of handle to the jug shows purpose and care. Two tendrils of glaze add character. This is a very well made piece. The jug is 12 inches tall. And 7 inches in diameter at the bottom, and slightly wider at the top. It is sturdy and structurally well made. The bottom 8 inches is glazed clear, with the natural color of the clay showing through. The top is dip glazed in a rich chocolate brown. Great looking blue speckled Western Stoneware Monmouth. Ill. jug. It measures 8 3/4" tall to the top of the crock, not including handle. Measures 6 1/2" across at the lid. It is in great shape with no cracks. It has a spigot on the front and a wire handle with wooden handhold. The inside is clean. The top knob on the lid has a maple leaf impression on it. It is approximately 10" tall and 5 1/4" across the bottom. There are no chips. Cracks, or signs of repair. There are a few scuff marks on the bottom, the cork has a chip out of it, and on the brown stoneware there is tape residue and on the tape it apparently said 100. Unusual Antique or Vintage Stoneware Jug With Rope Netting And Wooden Tag
Here is a an old( I do not know the age) rope netted stoneware mug with a hidden blue design under one side of the cover. I cannot make out the design or the possible word over it. Perhaps a manufacturer name. The netting is tight and cannot be pushed over to see it. It has some tears and stains and no cap but I had never seen one like this and thought it was a great decorative object. I know nothing about jugs and bought this in Asheville. NC a while back and used it for a nautical decor display. It is approximately 8 1/2" high and the bottom circumference is 7" round. A really great unusual decorator piece or for a collector of jugs.
