This is an antique primitive beehive crock jug that belonged to my Mom. It appears to be very old but does not have any markings on the bottom. The handle is bent. But appears to be the original handle. There are a few spots where the glaze did not stick to the crock when it was glazed. There is a dark spot near the top of the jug. There are also a few chips around the top and bottom edges. The jug is about 10 1/2" tall and 25" around at the widest point. PayPal only please. This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. This antique moonshine jug has the characteristic crown stamp known for Ransbottom Brothers pottery. The upper portion. Which is cone shaped, has a handle and is glazed very glossy brown. The glaze goes into the interior of the jug. The glaze is scuffed on the handle. It has a small dent about 0.5 cm in diameter. The cylinder is cream-colored and semi-glossy glazed. It has some discoloration and scuffs. The glaze is worn slightly in a few spots. The jug has no cracks in the side or base. Beautiful antique piece has a very high gloss and an unusual tone I have never seen one with this multi tones of color and super high gloss gives the appearance of different shades of browns and tones that are lovely. see photos. Moonshine or whiskey was in storage for a very long time but is in fantastic condition very thick pottery or stoneware not sure. Have had offers before finally decided to sell. it has been used as a book end the past 12 years since it was found in a family storage barn. Im sure it was there at least 40 years. probably much longer than that but i can only say for sure all my life of 40 years. The jug has a brown top and then a band of tan coloring and then cream color on the bottom section. It has an applied handle and is estimated to be half gallon size. The crock whiskey jug measures about 10 1/4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is pretty good condition but does have a couple of surface chips in the dark brown area toward the tan colored band. There's also crazing on the bottom and sides of the jug mainly noted in the light colored areas. The jug also has some pin holes that are normally seen on these jugs. Glazed, stoneware shoulder jug with applied handle is approximately a half-gallon in size. It has a great shape and very rich brown color. The photos show places where the brown glaze did not cover its base. Its condition is very good for its age, easily at 100 years from the Kentucky family history that I've learned.
