Estate Catholic Priest Stole- Lavender and White- Fine Embroidered Gold Crosses
I purchased this at the estate sale of an elderly priest. He had been in Rome for a few years and I purchased a few items he had from there including a couple of beautiful rosaries. This stole is a light ivory white on one side and a beautiful lavender purple on the other. It looks more blue in my photos and I don't know why: It is purple. Not blue. The crosses are stitched on with great care- on both sides(the purple and the ivory side) with golden thread which matches the gold trim. The entire stole is about 72 inches in length. The items are made of superb. Very costly silk which is lavishly brocaded with gold wire. Some of the motifs are raised. In addition to the stunning fabric. The chasuble and stole are decorated with magnificent gleaming metallic gold galons. As you would expect from vestments of this age. There is some wear to the silk of the chasuble- but this is mainly on the front and at the shoulders. There have been a few small repairs.
