Roman Purple Holy Rood Guild Priest Chasuble and Stole
A perfect find for Lent! Up for auction is a Holy Rood Guild Roman purple priest chasuble and stole with decorative tapestry around the neck. The Holy Rood Guild in Spencer. MA, is known for the beauty, quality and longevity of their vestments. A comparable chasuble and stole set today would sell for close to $500 and most of their designs are over $1000. This particular chasuble and stole are older and are gently used, although it is clean and without stains or other markings. There is a zipper at the neck(see photo) which keeps the chasuble well fitted. Pease note that the stitching holding the tapestry in place is coming undone on the right shoulder and in a few other places(see photos) Thankfully, it has not caused damage to the vestment and could easily be re-sewn. In fact, I believe that the owner could decide to remove the tapestry ... moreentirely without causing damage to the vestment, if desired. Some of the hem on the back of the vestment is slightly undone, but again, could easily be fixed. The chasuble is unlined, while the stole is lined. This is a vintage gothic style bright green chasuble and stole set by Robert Gaspard Co. The vestment is a woven material with black and green colored offrey of three verticle knitted stripes down the front and the back. It has a rolled monastic collar with a black cross at the neck. The matching green stole also has a black cross at the neck. The stole is lined with a gold satin. Both the chasuble and stole have makers tags with Robert Gaspard Co of Milwaukee. Wisconsin. The chasuble is 41 inches long in front and 47 inches long in back and with ample width. Swank Vintage Presents a lot of antique vestments I am very pleased to be able to offer this lot of divine antique vestments. All were found in Paris(France) though I cannot be sure of their original origins. I am also unsure about their age. But an estimation puts them in the 19th century. The finest of the lot are the 3 piece set of gorgeous silk brocade. The main color is a rich cherry red silk with incredible metallic gold florals throughout. The trimmings are beautiful metallic gold. There are clusters of little circles and leaves, perhaps a grape motif. The gold is so gold, one may call it cloth of gold. The fringes are very fine gold, that have the feel of metal. It would seem the fabric was woven specially to become this Chasuble as the gold patterns flow perfectly. The center of the front is adorned with extremely fine embroidery. ... moreAnd set with gold sequins. The dove in the center was worked in metallic silver threads. Each tiny feather was constructed with great care and skill. The detail is incredible, right down to the tiny ruby red eye. The set consists of one Chasuble. One Stole and a Maniple all matching. The Chasuble has an area where wax had splattered a bit. And a few, small scattered stains. Email me if you wish to see these minor areas of note. The Stole and Maniple show minor wear. The linings are white silk with a light squiggling pattern in relief. The linings have light stains. The main part of the Chasuble measures 46" x 25" The Maniple is 34" long by 8" wide The stole is 86" long by 9" wide. Not counting the fringe The lot also will include an altar covering. Also most likely 19th century, also found in Paris. The fabric is white sot with gold threads. The trim is metallic gold, the fringe are gold metal. The central area is adorned with the ten commandments in relief. Applique onto the cloth, surrounded by rays of sequins on top of gold cloth also applique to the cloth. This is a very nicely designed chasuble by the famous vestment maker Slabbinck. It is a white base color with blue. Green, and grey colors woven into the fabric in stripes. There is a matching underlay stole included. There are some sweat stain faintly visible on the stole and the neck opening on the chasuble as well as a number of other stains showing up on the chasuble(a few can be seen in the photos) It measures 52 inches long and 58 inches wide. Other than the spots, the material does not seem to show any signs of wear.

Green Chasuble by Hansen with overlay stole
This is a very nice green Chasuble made by the famous Chicago vestment and clergy apparel maker The House of Hansen. It has a nice overlay stole that matches the trim on the edges of the monastic style chasuble which measures 58 inches long and 64 inches wide with a rolled collar. It is a polyester fabric that hangs well and looks good the front is four inches shorter than that back. It shows no signs of wear.

Green Chasuble by Stadelmaier with overlay stole and preformed amices
This is a beautiful Chasuble with matching overlay stole created by the famous European vestment maker Stadelmaier in green. The stripes and collar and stole are in a much darker green shade than the rest which makes a stunning combination. It is a wool blend fabric that drapes beautifully and is lightweight. This measures 60 inches long in back and 56 inches long in front from the collar. And is 64 inches wide. This also includes two preformed amices that came with it, one in bright white, the other in more of a cream color.
