They are part of their blown ware line and this particular etch was introduced in ... more1910. It is called a'deep plate etching' 215, and was made until 1927. It resembles the Greek Key style and would be a perfect match for Etruscan or Grecian in the silverware department. This set is unusual as the etching has been gold encrusted and each plate has been signed"J.D.A. I am not sure if this was an after market addition or if it was done by Fostoria. Each plate has a ground rim on the bottom. The plates are small. Measuring 4-3/4" wide with a 1-5/8" wide depression in the center. This type of ware is shown in the book"FOSTORIA Its First Fifty Years" by Hazel Marie Weatherman and plates are shown being used under custard cups. Iced tea glasses and finger bowls. I don't know what these plates were actually made to be but they could even be used as little side dishes. They have a ground bottom rim. This etching is not seen very often! NOTE: The tiny specks you see in the photos are just lint from having been freshly washed and dried. CONDITION: Excellent condition! The plates have some light tiny utensil marks. Mostly in the center area, not seen at all unless held up to the light. One plate has a tiny nip on the top outer rim, extremely minor. Two plates have a couple minor nips on the ground bottom rim. The plates are clean and clear with no cloudiness. The gold etch is in beautiful condition.

Young Satyr Wineskin Bronze/Marble Sculpture Statue Greek Hellenistic Pompeii
Classical young satyr with an wreath and curly hair. Slight smile, short tail, carrying a wineskin(made of an animal skin) under one arm, pouring it into a vessel that would have been held in the other hand. Online research leads me to believe that this is a replica of a statue that was excavated at the site of Herculaneum. And that the original was Greek of the Late Hellenistic period(350 BC to 100 AD) Also from the internet: The nude young satyr in a pose which vividly reveals the powerful muscularity of his athletic young body as he pours wine from a wineskin. The original marble sculpture was a companion piece to the"Drunken Hercules" found at Herculaneum in the House of Stags. An almost identical bronze version of the satyr was found in Pompeii. Images of statues that appear identical to this can be found online. I believe ... morethe statue is complete with no damage or missing parts. It looks as if it might have been a fountain but there doesn’t seem to be any internal water conduit. It could be fitted as a fountain with external water piping hidden on the backside. I am guessing this is quite old- the surface has developed a lovely green pa tina. It may have been displayed outdoors. Though it has been in storage indoors for many years. Approximate measurements: base 10” by 17 ½” height 21½” weight 42# Weighed on a spring scale(bathroom scale) so could be off a little. The marble base has two tiers. Condition: A little dusty and grimy from many years of storage. The marble base is attached but not firmly– the statue has a little wobble if you wiggle it. But it doesn’t feel as if it is going to fall off. I have described as best I understand but I have no expertise in this type of item. Please contact me if you need more information. The urn is 9.5" tall and 7.5" at its widest. Counting the lid it's 12" tall. There are no chips, cracks or breaks but there are some flakes in the paint as in the photos in a few spots. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its age. It's a modern piece but I don't know if it's an original design or a replica of an ancient piece. CORINTHIAN STYLE HELMET This is a beautiful Corinthian Antique style helmet. This helmet is made of bronze material. Giving the piece a classic appearance. Every piece is unique because it is hand made. It was made in Greece, stands 8 centimeters width, 11 centimeters high, 10 centimeters length and weighs approximately 600g. The prototype for these helmets is the plain, uncrested Corinthian style of the 6th century BC. Originals of these can be seen in museums across the world, but the prototypes are in the Goulandris Collection in the Museum of Cycladic Art.
