DICK WHITTINGTON PEARLWARE TRANSFERWARE English Lrg PITCHER 1868-1883 Registry
Large antique pitcher with the hand colored transfer print on either side. Of DICK WHITTINGTON, a person in the center of an English folk tale of a poor boy( during the 14thc) who became first a wealthy merchant, and eventually the Lord Mayor of London. This was simply because of the ratting abilities of his cat. This character was named for a real person. Richard Whittington, who actually did not come from a poor family. No one knows if he even owned a cat. Very nice display piece and example for the period at a low price. The basic black and white transfer has been added rosey pink. Yellow and greens for some of the details. The pitcher stands 7-1/2" high. 5-1/2" across the widest point from the back of the handle. The base is approx 3" across. Date mark is registry mark of England giving the year between 1868 and 1883. Good ... moreantique condition. 2 tight thin lines or cracks at top and spider type at the base underside. Some staining at seam and typical crazing. Very fine flakes across end of lip. See photos and ask questions if you need more information. Items always guaranteed to be as described but not sold on approval so please ask questions before bidding~ ~I ship daily. 6 days a week, and within 24 hours of payment~ ~Thank You for viewing~I welcome any questions~
ANTIQUE 1840's ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE & WHITE SPONGEWEAR PITCHER
This lovely. Large pitcher is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines or discoloration. It measures 11 1/2"29.3 cm) in height and is 7 1/2"17.8 cm) in diameter at the widest point. The pitcher is covered down to the bottom with blue sponging. There is a 2"5.1 cm) area of white at the base and on the upper foot of the pitcher. The sponging continues around the rim of the base, the inside rim of the spout, and the entire handle. The handle has a thumb guard, and another 4"10.2 cm) below that. The pitcher appears to be earthenware as you can see this from the unglazed rim on the base. It was covered in a white tin glaze with blue, and then a glossy glaze. There is no Mark on the bottom. This would predate the first registry diamond in 1842. The pitcher shape with the oversized spout and bulbous lower body with ... morea foot was popular in the 1840s. This pitcher was purchased by the dealer I obtained it from in England over 55 years ago. There is a $1.00 charge for a new box within a larger new box and ample packing material to ensure safe delivery. International Buyers Please Note: Import duties. Taxes and related charges are not included in the item price or shipping and handling charges. These charges are the buyers responsibility. ANTIQUE 1820-1830 ENGLISH BLUE & WHITE SPONGEWARE HELMET SHAPED PITCHER
This early pitcher has very defined sponging. The English cut the sponges in a much more fine and detailed manner. This is also called an ewer. When it has this oversized spout. It measures 10" 25.4 cm) in height, 7" 17.8 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) in diameter at the base. The mouth of the pitcher measures 6" 15.3 cm) from spout to handle and is 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) across. The"C" shaped handle is heavily sponged. There are double, overlapping, concentric circles on the inside and outside of the spout. The first row of double circles on the body match the spout, except they are not overlapping. The next two rows are divided by two double rings. The two rows have double, multi-pointed stars, that also do not overlap. There is a very similar pitcher in my yelloware book, ... morethat has black sponging over the yelloware, dates to 1810 and was made in Yorkshire. The only difference is the bottom shape. The bottom of the pitcher in the book comes down straight and this one has a"pedestal urn" shaped base. This pitcher looks to be Ironstone because the glaze is not interrupted, but if you look at the base rim, there are two areas where the earthenware pottery is showing through. Also, the weight is substantial, but an Ironstone pitcher of this size would be heavier. This pitcher is in great condition, especially considering its age and composition. There is only one thing, and is not technically damage. It has a light beige stain on the bottom that does not come through to the inside surface. There is a $1.00 charge for a new box within a larger new box and ample packing material to ensure safe delivery. International Buyers Please Note: Import duties. Taxes and related charges are not included in the item price or shipping and handling charges. These charges are the buyers responsibility. VINTAGE EARLY 20th C. ENGLISH SADLER & CO PITCHER W/ PEWTER LID
Antique English pewter-lidded pitcher. Made by Sadler& CO. Marked SADLER BURSLEM ENGLAND. This interesting and beautiful pitcher is made of pottery(earthenware) but is painted to look as if it were porcelain. I understand that this treatment of a pottery item as unusual. The lid is pewter and features a thumb tab set in a floral design. There is a crease in the front of the lid, but it is otherwise intact. The body of the pitcher is painted in two colors, dark blue(usually referred to as cobalt) on the top half and light blue on the bottom half. It is decorated with daisy-like flowers and has gold gilt lines around the waistline and bottom of the pitcher. As well as where the stylized light blue handle attaches to the pitcher. The bottom and inside are brown, the natural color of the pottery. The pitcher is about 7.5 inches tall from ... morebase to top of the thumb tab and is about 4 inches across the base, tapering upward. I am not an expert and I have relied on research to describe this item as accurately as I can. I have no real idea about the age of the item. But I have been told that it is likely from 1895 to 1920 because the tariff act enacted in 1921 required the words"Made in England" to be used on items produced from that time on. This very unusual. Exceptional piece will a great addition to your collection or provide a starting point for your new one! I combine shipping and ship within one business day of receipt of your cleared payment. Thanks for looking!

L209 ENGLISH GEORGIAN EARTHENWARE 1860s UN-BANDED BLUE RING SPONGEWARE PITCHER
LOT# 209 Detailed Photos. Click to enlarge. Estate Road Show. Item Description. The Estate Road Show is proud to showcase this original 1860s to 1870s English Spongeware full sized 8.5 inch tankard pitcher. In an early plain Georgian style un-banded configuration, completed in a gorgeous blue finger ring hand Dabbed finish. This classic Georgian style buff clay rimmed bottom tankard is part of the second generation Victorian highly decorative Spongeware, which is generally considered between 1855& 1875, when hand Dabbing switched to the stick spatter application finish. The early to mid Victorian Scottish/ English molded serving pieces are few and far between. Furthermore, 90% + of the wares from that era were finished in one of the four disciplines exclusively, those being Brush Stroke, Spattering, Dabbing, or Sponge Spattering(Stick ... moreSpattering) please see the history below. Our special antique is strictly early hand Dabbing and is a truly valuable collectible. Research consulted: Spongeware 1835 to 1935 Makers Marks& patterns/ by Henry E. Kelly, Arnold& Dorothy E. Kowalsky; Spongeware& Spatterware 3rd Edition/ by Kevin McConnell Spongeware is a specific decorating discipline that although can be found as early as 1820, according to some historians, officially originated in Scotland ca. 1835. The technique was amenable to early earthen wares, but would also later apply to Ironstone, and English semi porcelain, which fostered a century long love affair with the finished products. Manufactured In the numerous factories of early Industrial-era England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales the art form was well received whenever it was discovered. The term Spongeware was strictly Scottish/ English in lineage, while the term Spatterware became first associated with, and then supplanted the Spongeware reference in America. This information is taken from the classic reference by Henry Kelly and Arnold and Dorothy Kowalsky, Spongeware 1835-1935. Spongeware or Spatterware was first recorded in Scotland ca. 1835, a

English Aesthetic Pottery Pitcher Asian Theme Birds & Cherry Blossom
This is a wonderful Aesthetic movement pottery pitcher. It is in a dark grey pottery with raised cherry blossoms and flying birds. The bottom is bulbous with raised cherry blossoms and round medallions. The pitcher is accented with very dark blue. Almost black glaze and gold gilt. Cherry blossoms are highlighter with white glaze. It stands 8" tall x 6" wide at the bulbous portion. It is marked on the bottom with the English Registry hallmark which looks to me like an N at the top on the diamond, Y at the right(dates it at 1879) E at the bottom and A on the left. EXQUISITE c1840-1860 GOTHIC ENGLISH SALT GLAZED PORCELAIN PITCHER/EWER
EXQUISITE c1840-1860 GOTHIC ENGLISH SALT GLAZED PORCELAIN PITCHER/EWER Presented is a very fine English salt glazed porcelain pitcher. This piece dates to circa 1840-1860. The pitcher is very ornate and very Gothic in style. The exterior features figures of saints or clerics standing in arched alcoves. The top of the handle has two faces of stately bearded men. One facing in either direction. The whole piece is very reminiscent of a cathedral, and may even be modeled on the design a specific cathedral. The overall effect is as though a cathedral had been wrapped around the exterior of the pitcher. The interior of the piece is done in a high glaze, and is completely clean and useable. This piece is in near perfect condition. As one of the photos shows. There is a slight discoloration on one of the faces on the handle. This is not to be considered ... morea flaw, as this is original to the manufacture of the piece, a result of slight impurities reacting when fired in a kiln. There are no chips, no breaks, no cracks, and no problems whatsoever. This piece is approximately 10 1/2 inches tall at the highest point. Good luck and bid with confidence. Antique Victorian Huge English Wash Bowl Water Pitcher Aesthetic Transferware
Antique Victorian Huge English Wash Bowl Water Pitcher Aesthetic Blue Transferware HARVEST by Della Robbia Lovely and large water pitcher made by a not so well known North Staffordshire potter called Della Robbia Co. They were only in existence from 1894 until 1901. Located in Birkenhead. The pattern name"HARVEST" is printed on the bottom of the pitcher. The center swatch is indeed that of some workers in the field with flowers and stems projecting through it and around it. On the back side of the pitcher, the scene is repeated but in a smaller size. Between the two scenes there is a small sprig of flowers and leaves. This pitcher has a segmented melon shaped body. Scalloped top and rope handle. The pitcher measures 11-1/2" tall and about 8" wide(across the widest part of the body) This is the size you would find with ... morea wash basin bowl! Would look so nice in a cottage decor or at a bed and breakfast. The pitcher is in excellent condition! If I didn't know its age and only looked at its condition. I would think it was nearly new! There are no chips or cracks or crazing. The only very minor thing I see are some light grayish marks along the rope handle which appear to have been done in manufacturing, perhaps thinner paint coverage. Also, a few craze lines on the bottom exterior of the pitcher and a few inside the pitcher, only on the surface. The pitcher is immaculately clean, inside and out. The glaze is nice and shiny. A true beauty!

Doulton Lambeth Rare Dog Handle Hunting Pitcher Antique English 6 3/4" tall
This is a lovely fine English pitcher. From the 1800's with applied figures. Around the plumpest part of the belly are horses, hunting scenes and dogs. The deep red iron oxide glaze glows orangy brown on the yellow clay of the stoneware body, while it changes to a nice ochre where the dip covered the figural decoration. The rare handle is applied, and is a wonderfully formed hunting dog. Condition of this beautiful pitcher is good with one small chip on the lip. And firing lines where the spout is joined which is typical in the manufacture of these pieces. The mark is"Doulton Lambeth England" This lovely English pitcher measures about 6 3/4" tall and about 71/2" wide. Please note that my photos were taken in natural light and some were taken in artificial light. This is a lovely piece to add to a stoneware collection. ... moreIt has a straightforward. Vigorous appeal that is evocative of country manors and brisk morning walks. And it would look just beautiful grouped on a mantle, or with flowers from your English garden. ANTIQUE ENGLISH PORCELAIN PITCHER WHITE & BROWN WITH GILDING - FINE CONDITION
Very pretty English porcelain pitcher in lovely condition. Brown floral design on white. May be what is known as transfer ware. There are a couple of tiny glaze pops on the body about 4" below the spout.barely noticeabl e. I don't see any cracks or feel any chips. On the bottom of the pitcher is a rather blurry maker's mark that reads"Porcelaine Opaque. Trade Mark" then a blurry coat of arms below which is a word I can't make out, and below that is the word"England" Please refer to the last photo for a view of the entire mark. This would be gorgeous with a bunch of flowers in it. Or displayed in a pitcher collection.

English Bisque Parian Pitcher with English Registry Mark 1857- Heavily repaired

19 Century English Copper Lustre Pitcher w/ 3-Dimensional Dancing Figures RARE
Up for auction is a beautifully handmade original 19th Century rare. Antique original large copper lustre ware with three dimensional dancing figures. Look closely at the detail involved! As you can see from the sticker on bottom- this was purchased in 1945 and then identified as being 125 years old. I think it is very safe to say circa 1850- although I do believe it to be earlier than that! Merely. My opinion! Measures approximately 8" high. 5" wide. Beautiful ewer, jug, or pitcher for display and or use. This large antique English jug/pitcher in gorgeous lustreware has warm patina with RARE painted green hand painted decorations. The antique pitcher circa 1820-1850 is in very nice condition. I see what I think may be an faint age-related stress crack near the bottom of the handle. see photo) If it has been restored- it is a mighty ... moregood restoration! Pitcher (Water) and Wash Basin bowl, English, Vintage, Falcon Ware, large
Vintage Pitcher and Wash Basin(could be from early 1900's) FALCON WARE. Made in England. Condition is excellent; value in set. Pitcher is 11.5 inches high to the highest point of spout. Bowl has 16.5 inch diameter which includes 1 1/4' lip all around. To my knowledge it has not been broken or repaired. I can not guarantee but I seen no evidence otherwise. The top glaze has fine lines in it as I'd expect from old porcelain. Inside the pitcher on its' floor one can feel some roughness about 1/2" ound. The pattern is captivating. See photo of cottage. The English cottage is repeated in various spots alternating with a flower bouquet. The pitcher on the bottom is engraved with MADE IN ENGLAND it is stamped with the same stamp on the bottom of the bowl where it is legible. The handwritten numbers on the pitcher base are 4 ... more8 5 0. and a handwritten floating"16" The bowl stamp is quite legible with FALCON WARE ENGLAND And a cursive capital LG intertwined. Looks like what is on the bottom of the pitcher but fainter and partially there on the pitcher. The gold trim seems very intact. Normal wear but actually less than normal wear to me. I see a touch worn off the handle but it's charming as I'd expect it there. The bowl also has the floating 16(or is it 10? Background color best described as Creamy. This set is charming. Wonderful decorative piece. Not too fragile, large for a statement, and a pattern that could go in most informal spots. I used this in a very contemporary home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have prior to bidding. Payment should be received within 4 days after the close of the auction or the item will be offered to the next highest bidder. Items will be shipped within 1-business day of payment posted to my PayPal account. Large Antique Arab Pottery Pitcher 1877 English Registry Mark
This auction is for a rare early English earthenware pottery pitcher. The pitcher is decorated with the pictures of a desert and a men riding a camel. It is accented with elaborate trim around the top rim. All decorations are done in blue on a white background under the glaze. The pitcher bares multiple marks at the bottom. One of the marks is the English Registry mark that dates this pitcher to March of 1877. There is also an ARAB mark and a F&E Trade Mark as well as a small cross-like mark with two small dots. I am not familiar with these marks other than the English Registry one and therefore cannot identify the manufacturer of this magnificent. Old piece of earthenware. It stands an impressive 10.5" tall and is about 8.5" wide at its widest point. It is in very good condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. ... moreThere is some slight ware of the gilding around the top rim and on the handle. Also, there are some signs of crazing on the inside of the pitcher, but nothing on the outside Please see pictures for more details. Thank you for viewing this auction. Happy bidding!
Antique Fleur-de-lis Pottery Pitcher English French Majolica dk green Victorian
Very interesting looking antique pottery pitcher with a beautiful Fleur-de-Lis pattern. Pretty glaze is a deep gray green. Almost black, with white raised design. I think it is probably English or French, possibly majolica but I'm not sure. No maker's mark and I am guessing at the age-possibly late 1880-1920 but could be later. Chip on bottom, where it doesn't show, 2-3 teeny chips that do show, please see photos. Also tiny spots of beige paintand 2-3 larger spots of beige paint-someone was painting and splattered-I will let the new owner take care of that as I don't want to ruin the glaze. A lot of crazing and crackling. No obvious repairs or cracks. Measures 6 inches high 4 1/2 inch diameter opening 6 3/4 inches across overall Co-ordinates well with"Midnight Race" plate I also have listed currently-see last photo. ... moreThis auction is for the pitcher only. I will combine shipping whenever possible. Please note: We only take Paypal. Payment is expected within 4 days. We will combine shipping for multiple purchases if possible. Please just ask. Antique Green/Blue English Transferware PITCHER/Vase! Victorian Staffordshire!
Gorgeous Victorian Pitcher! Love this shabby chic treasure! Wonderful ornate blue/green design with flowers. Scrolls, leaves, on a HUGE embossed vase/pitcher! In amazingly excellent condition considering this is an oldie! Although I am unfamiliar with the pattern and there are no markings on the pitcher. I believe this to be Victorian and from Staffordshire/Stoke-on-Trent. It would have originally had a water bowl underneath, and quite possibly an entire'dressing' table set. My favorite of these pieces is the pitcher, because it's versatile, practical and holds anything! This one is particularly large~spout to base is 11 inches and spout to(gorgeous applied) handle is 10" The inside is white and clean but it looks like someone stored water inside and much of the inside has(shiny) glaze loss that you can feel. No damage. Some ... morelight wear/scratches here and there, but overall EXCELLENT condition with many, many more years of life. Fabulous and impressive piece! FREE SHIPPING! Email with any questions or info. HappyTreasure Hunting! Best. Debbie Check out my!

Antique English Lusterware Tulip Pitcher Stoneware
This Flow blue stoneware pitcher we believe is English. But it is unmarked. It is a fine example of early Flow blue glaze with embossed tulips, cat tails, branches and leaves. The luster finish has been applied to the branches, tulips, and leaves. There is some crazing and a small amount of discoloration to the very bottom and on the inside of the pitcher. Neither the crazing or discoloration distracts from the beauty of the piece as you don't even see the crazing without looking inside or turning the pitcher over. The diameter of this 7" high pitcher is 5 3/4" diameter at the widest point. This piece is all original, and has one small flake that can be seen in the picture below. Guaranteed old and authentic. A stylish and unique piece that would make an excellent addition to any fine collection.Nebraska residents pay 7% sales ... moretax.
