Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. ... moreIt has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part of a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

1850s Antique Staffordshire England Copper Luster Individual 3" Creamer Pitcher
Here is a lovely little antique creamer glazed in copper luster and made in the Staffordshire area of England from the 1840s to the 1860s. Copper luster was popular during the period because it reflected the gas lights that brightened each home in the evening hours. This creamer is an early piece with no manufacturer's mark and is made from ironstone dipped in copper luster. The individual creamer measures 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter from the spout to the handle. The copper glaze is in beautiful condition. With no stains. THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE ANTIQUE PITCHER AND WASH BOWL SET ELSTERWERDA POTTERY THESE ITEMS ARE OVER 100 YEARS OLD! The small factory was founded in 1900 right between the arms of the rivers Pulsnitz and Black Elster by a Mr. Korsukewiez who over the years slowly but surely increased the capacity until he employed up to 200 people in the 1920's and 30's. Although some other sources claim that the factory had a peak of 400 workers during 1925. Many famous designers and sculptors worked at the factory, for example the designer Ursula Fesca who worked there between 1928 and 1931 or other well-known artists like Siegfried Möller. Grete Gottschalk and Franz Eggert. Next to normal household items the factory also produced ceramic clocks during the Art Deco period and one of the decoration styles used is a typical example for a combined ... moreairbrush and stencil technique used during the mid-thirties. The only history I have on this little 3 1/2" tall pitcher is that it was in my Grandma's china cabinet and then in my Mom's and then it got packed away for the last 15 years. It has no markings that I can find. It is handpainted fruit design. With 24Kt. gold handle and accents around the rim. There is a pear, a plume, and an apple. Doulton Lambeth Rare Dog Handle Hunting Pitcher Antique English 6 3/4" tall
This is a lovely fine English pitcher. From the 1800's with applied figures. Around the plumpest part of the belly are horses, hunting scenes and dogs. The deep red iron oxide glaze glows orangy brown on the yellow clay of the stoneware body, while it changes to a nice ochre where the dip covered the figural decoration. The rare handle is applied, and is a wonderfully formed hunting dog. Condition of this beautiful pitcher is good with one small chip on the lip. And firing lines where the spout is joined which is typical in the manufacture of these pieces. The mark is"Doulton Lambeth England" This lovely English pitcher measures about 6 3/4" tall and about 71/2" wide. Up for auction is a beautifully handmade original 19th Century rare. Antique original large copper lustre ware with three dimensional dancing figures. Look closely at the detail involved! As you can see from the sticker on bottom- this was purchased in 1945 and then identified as being 125 years old. 3 piece antique copper luster creamer. Pitcher and egg cup. Small creamer It has a beaded bands and a ribbed bottom. Raised motif on a deep blue band. Looks like a girl playing with her dog. Same design on both sides but painted in different colors. It stands 3 5/8" tall x 3" round at the widest portion. 4 1/2" spout to handle. Pitcher has a beaded rim and fancy handle. It has the same raised motif on both sided and floral one under the spout. It stands 5 3/4" tall x 4 5/8" round at the widest portion. 6 1/4" spout to handle. This one has no cracks or chips but has a really rough handle. Done in manufacturing with glaze over top. See pic of handle. It also looks like the luster was not put on properly on the base done in the manufacturing process because it doesn't look as lustery as the rest of the piece. ... moreThere are several popped air bubbles or paint bubbles in the raised portion and I see crazing. The Egg Cup. Well I am not sure if this is a egg cup or not but that is what I am calling it has a raised motif of a girl playing with an animal. Up for auction are three figural pitchers of deer/moose or reindeer. I do no know much about them except all were in a relative's house for at least the last 50 years. All three are stamped"Made In Czechoslovakia" on the bottom and there are no other identifying marks. I will do my best to describe each one from left to right: 1) 4" tall. 5"wide from tip of nose to handle. The"points" are not entirely symmetrical but there are no chips and no repairs. 2) the center, 4" tall and 4 3/4 from nose to back of handle, other than one point missing, the pitcher is in good condition with no cracks, repairs, etc. 3) 3" tall and 3 1/2 inches from nose to handle, there is one point missing on the right front side. Antique pitcher featuring Greek figures on both sides. Stands 4.75" tall with an ornate handle and pillow like top. There is a nice Greek key gold band as shown. Bottom reads Greek Ware Bavaria and PT. Notice the inside has an orange edge that fades to white. Very good vintage condition.
