Probably being well over a 100 years old. Wear and signs of age are to be expected, since this was utility ware and received heavy use in busy households. Some of the gold is worn, there is allover fine crazing, dark discoloration at the bottom inside and out and three fine hairline cracks on the spout. The lovely floral decor is on the front and the back. It is such a precious piece you tend to overlook the wear. Now about the handle: It is a non-magnetic metal and has an antique gold-tone finish but it is silver-tone under the gold. The handle is attached at the bottom by a rod that goes through the neck and is secured by a small nut- the top is secured by a small nut also. It would appear that we have a rare pitcher and Bowl set with two Pitchers. The business of Challinor& Mayer is mention only for one year in the 1887 Porter directory. From 1862 to 1892 the works is recorded as Edward and Charles Challinor.

Cute and colorful little mid to late 1800s hand painted copper luster pitcher
We are listing this cute and very colorful mid to late 1800s hand painted copper luster pitcher. Overlying the white background on the body is a series of brightly colored flowers and an exotic and colorful bird. The pitcher is almost 4 inches tall. Almost 5 inches at its widest point, and is a very bright and decorative piece. Although the pitcher is in very good condition overall and displays very well, there is a flake out of the inside of one side of the spout(which shows slightly from the outside) Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. You are viewing a gorgeous vintage porcelain Irving Colonial Pottery matching pitcher and wash basin from Stoke. England in absolutely excellent condition.I believe the piece to be late 1800's, it dates between 1830-1859 from once article i found. The water basin and pitcher are in amazing condition. i was not able to find a single physical flaw. The pitcher measures 11" tall be 9" wide at its widest point. The basin is 4" high by 16" wide. The color is off white and green. the basin has a boarder design around the edges. It is incredibly RARE to find a historical item; that was used before there was running water, to last into the present day and in such exceptional condition. This ONE is truly a gem.
