1859-1860's SUNDERLAND LUSTRE CHINA PITCHER AGAMEMNON 10.25" X 7.5"
We are offering in this listing an attractive& impressive Sunderland lustre English soft paste china pitcher/jug. We are estimating that this pitcher/jug was made circa 1859-1860's. From 1857 to 1859 repairs& reconstruction was done on the Sunderland bridge by Robert Stevenson. The bridge was stripped back to its six iron ribs& the hump was leveled in its middle by raising the abutments. The bridge was reopened in March 1859. As the pitcher/jug has the wording"New Bridge Over the Wear Sunderland" the pitcher would have been issued after the repairs were completed. The pitcher/jug measures 10 1/4 inches across the handle& spout by 7 1/2 inches tall. The top to the outside of the rim from left to right measures 5 3/8 inches& the base diameter is 5 5/8 inches. The pitcher/jug has a transfer decoration with hand ... morepainted color details of New Bridge at Sunderland. The other side has a transfer scene of" The Agamemnon in a Storm" with hand painted color details. The scene makes reference to a storm in June of 1809 which resulted in the wreck of the famous ship. HMS Agamemnon was a 64-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. She saw service in the American Revolutionary. French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and fought in many of the major naval battles of those conflicts. She is remembered as being Nelson's favorite ship, and was named after the mythical ancient Greek king Agamemnon, being the first ship of the Royal Navy to bear the name. The future Lord Nelson served as Agamemnon's captain from January 1793 for 3 years and 3 months. During which time she saw considerable service in the Mediterranean. After Nelson's departure, she was involved in the infamous 1797 mutinies at Spithead and the Nore, and in 1801 was present at the first Battle of Copenhagen, but ran aground before being able to enter the action. Despite Nelson's fondness for the ship. She was frequently in need of repair and refitting, and would likely have been hulked or scrapped

Do you love blue and white? Here is a beautiful antique pitcher for you! It's a large pitcher.Probably from a wash stand set. THe pitcher stands about 11 1/4 inches high and is about 8 to nine inches at its widest point. It is sparkling clean inside and out and looks like it was rarely used. Stamp on bottom reads Doma Fama Alba China Graceful handle and shape with flowers all over(see pics) Light crazing all over gives it character. There is one chip near the lip or spout which I tried to photograph but as it is in the white area it is very hard to capture. Overall it is in great shape for its age and is bright and crisp-perfect for an arrangement of fresh flowers. The only history I have on this little 3 1/2" tall pitcher is that it was in my Grandma's china cabinet and then in my Mom's and then it got packed away for the last 15 years. It has no markings that I can find. It is handpainted fruit design. With 24Kt. gold handle and accents around the rim. There is a pear, a plume, and an apple. This auction is for a Vintage Pitcher. The background is white with a floral design of purple and white pansy type flowers. There is aso a fine gold trim throughout. The pitcher measures 11.5 tall. About 10" lip to handle, and about 7.5 across the fattest part of the pitcher. On the bottom is a seal or mark: Boma Fama Est Mellor Zona Aurea Alba china. These words surround a globe with a sword inserted into it. The pitcher is in near perfect condition with only one 1/8" spot where one on the pansy leaves has been worn. 19th Cent. China Pitcher w/ Painted Flower & Leaf Design,Just Lovely,Old Repairs
Found in an old east central Illinois estate. This fine 19th century pitcher measures 9 ½” tall by 8 ½” from spout to handle& has a body diameter of about 6 ¼” This has base wear, wear to the high spots of the handle, a tiny chip or two along the rim’s/spout’s edge, there is one spot of crazing inside the pitcher below the handle. There’s appears to be some“flaking” or“scaling off” of some old“shellac” or some other repair material. We put it under a black light& there appear to be old repairs to the lower portions of the pitcher, but well done in my opinion. The design of blue 6 petaled blossoms, dark pink& green leaves, dark pink“buds” is enhanced by its black“border” at the base, rim[inside& out] on the handle of the pitcher. There is even a small part of the floral/leaf design inside on the spout of the ... morepitcher. Rare Antique Vintage Lewis H Meakin Ironstone China Pitcher
In about 1853. At age 28, Lewis Henry Meakin left a successful plumbing business to embark upon a china manufacturing business venture with John Farrall. The pottery and china industry was very competitive and their business on Cannon Street, Shelton, Stoke-upon-Trent, England, was short lived. They declared bankruptcy and closed their doors on August 3, 1855. It is not known how many pieces of china Lewis H. Meakin and John Farrall produced. But surviving pieces are extremely rare. Soon after the china business failure Lewis Henry Meakin moved his family to America, and lived out his remaining years in Ohio. His son, also Lewis Henry Meakin, born in 1850, was a fairly well-known US landscape painter. John Farrall went on to work at another china manufacturer in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. Lewis H Meakin Ironstone China is extremely rare. ... moreAnd to find a piece in good condition is rare indeed. This pitcher is one of the very few remaining pieces produced by Lewis H Meakin at the Ironstone China Company between 1853 and 1855, in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. The pitcher is approximately 9 inches tall. And 8 inches from the end of the spout to the end of the handle. The pitcher is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. The glaze is crazed on both the inside and the outside of the pitcher, which would be normal for a ceramic pitcher approaching 160 years old. A close up of the crazing is shown in the photo of the bottom of the pitcher. The pitcher is slightly stained on both the inside and the outside. The inside is more heavily stained, but not quite as dark as it appears in the photo of the inside. The best illustration of the true color of the pitcher is represented in the first picture. From the lack of wear on the base and the staining it would be easy to assume that this pitcher has spent most of its life on a shelf with dust laying on the inside for a long period of time.

Up for bid is an antique T F& S Ltd/ Thomas Forester& Sons gold floral Chintz pitcher with Asian motif featuring birds. Koi and flora. T his pitcher has an ink stamp on the bottom with dates it to be circa 1925. It has overall crazing inside with some darkening on the inside. The outside gold floral chintz and colorful green, black and orange design looks good with some minor wear on the gold rim and wear on the upper side of the handle. See photo 10. There is outside crazing, too. It is hard to see because the outside print covers it. There is a small split like chip on the rim.see photo 9. The bottom has the circa 1925 ink stamp and"No. 2" inscribed on the bottom.

This is a very large antique Johnson Brothers Ironstone/Semi Porcelain Washbasin and Pitcher. The bowl measures 17 1/4 across and 4 1/2 inches high. The pitcher measures 9 inches across and 11 1/2 inches high. The tag on the bottom(as purchased) says circa 1890-1915. It is in very good antique condition with no cracks or chips on the pitcher and mild crazing consistent with age. The washbasin has no cracks but a tiny flea bite on the underside which is not visible from above. There are some scratches on the bottom of the bowl where the pitcher sits but again consistent with age. Considering this is around 100 years old it is in very good condition. Which is the mark used by The French China Co of East Liverpool, Ohio, that later became the Sebring China Co. They were is business from 1898-1932 before the depression closed their doors. This exquisite Empress shape pitcher is white with bright blue accent lines on the rim and handle. The center line is broken on one side with a scene of what could be the Zuiderzee in times gone by. Sailing ships ply a tranquil sea with windmills on the horizon. This pitcher is about 5-1/2" high. And about 7" from handle to spout. Warranted Bone China Pitcher Brown/White Transferware Marked Maker Unknown Mint
I believe that this is a older piece. More antique than vintage! It is marked, although I found the markings impossible to read, I actually gave myself a headache! What I was able to make out is: WARRANTED BONE CHINA? BROS&CO. What I do know, is that it is a extremely handsome pitcher, measures approximately 8 inches tall. Front and back are both covered with brown and white transferware scenes. Slight pedestal base and a beautiful handle and spout. There is a fair amount of gold detail and if I had to guess, I would say that this was English in origin.

Up for auction is a Marked and Signed"Roy" Weissman Company, Incorporated of East Palestine, Ohio and New York City, New York(Circa 1941 to Closed in 1957) Weisley China(WC) Brand, American Art Pottery, Hand Painted-Handcrafted, American Painted Porcelain" Small Porcelain Artware Ewer Pitcher which can best be Attributed as Being Manufactured and Decorated by the Dwight Morris China Company also of East Palestine, Ohio(1939 to 1982) in"Excellent Plus" Used Condition and Made Between Circa 1941 to 1957. This little ewer has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs or repairs of any kind. It's only post factory issue is that some gold trim has worn away and picture 12 is a close up of the most worn area. This isn't uncommon to see when gold trim is applied either. It can be fired on or underglaze and ... moreit ususally is when it's part of the main pattern, but many times it's a final production step and it's applied cold. It has real gold in it and ceramic decorators use 22, 23 or 24 karat gold. It's always been an acceptable practice of cold painting the gold so it's not usually applied as a standard for a pottery or decorators quality of work. Immerse washings and shelf cleanings or dustings with a heavy hand are two main ways wear happens. Most consumers aren't aware that the gold trim areas need some special care. This piece is about 6 1/4 inches tall and about 3 1/8 inches at the most bulbous point near the bottom. The next biggest measurement is the from the outward pour lip across to the handle at about 2 3/4 inches and the top opening is an oval of about 5/8 inches by 3/4 inches across. Being true porcelain means this piece will be strong, but light weighing about 5 ounces. There's a beautiful hand painted floral pattern which I'm fairly sure is representative of the pansy flower. Antique John Edwards Ironstone Fine China Pitcher/Creamer
I don't know much about this piece other than that it was passed down by my grandmother. Its an antique china pitcher with a trademark on the bottom that says"Warranted Ironstone China Trade Mark John Edwards" There is also an imprint I tried to picture that says"Seine" with a mark underneath. It has an ornate handle. It does have a fair amount of wear to it. As you can see in the pictures

Waco, China This vase& pitcher are very old. Probably from the 1930's- 1940's. The pitcher does have a chip off the top lip. It does have a fine crack on the outside. But it does not seem to go all the way through. The pitcher measurements are: 8" tall(at its peak) opening is 4"x5" and the circumference is 18" at it's widest point. The vase is very pretty also, and it doesn't have any chips. But, it does have a brown stain. I don't know what this was originally used as- possibly a vase, or maybe a toothbrush holder. ANTIQUE WARWICK china IOGA mugs 10 1/2" PITCHER set MONK PORTRAIT
Hi. Up for auction is a very old pitcher and 6 mugs set. all have a Monk Portrait on them stamp on the bottom says, IOGA WARWICK CHINA WARWICK over the swords and 4 have A-1 in red. high glaze both inside and out. the pitcher is 10-1/2" high and the mugs are 3" high. two of the mugs are in bad condition they have repairs, done badly, the other four are in VG condition, the portraits are clear, all have specks of paint loss and crazing. one has a tiny chip by the rim. the pitcher is in wonderful condition, portrait is clear, NO chips, cracks, but there are specks of loss paint and crazing. it's a really old set, extremely collectable.
