Here's another of the old or antique ironstone pieces we've been listing recently. This one is a relatively thick pitcher that probably is meant to hold about 1 pint. It has some slight signs of use and light shadowing and some spotty areas of the glaze as noted above and in the pictures. No cracks or breaks to note. It has marking"Cockson& Seddon" and"Ironstone China" It stands about 5.5 inches tall and is about 3.5 inches wide and about 5.5 inches from handle to spout. Not sure if there is a pattern name for this but we show a picture of the decorative flourish near the handle that could be helpful to identification. That's about it. Antique Blue and White Parian Pitcher Very Unusual Scallop Shell Motif Creamer
Lovely. Unusual stylized sea shell decoration on Parian Pitcher. The scallop was often carved into American Chippendale furniture from the 18th Century. Perfect size for milk or cream. Among my grandmother’s treasures was a collection of Relief Molded and Parian Pitchers. This pitcher is the perfect size for milk or cream. Indeed my grandmother often used it after dinner for coffee. The overlapping scallop shell motif is very unusual in a pitcher. Even more so for a Parian pitcher. The shells are further highlighted by the use of blue slip between the rows. It fits right in with my grandmother's love of New England. This type of stylized scallop shell was often carved into the famous antique Chippendale furniture. Made in New England. Typical for Parian pitchers. This one is very delicate and thin walled. It is probably English. Although ... morethe interior is glazed—therefore usable—which was a distinguishing feature of American Bennington Parian ware. It probably dates from the 1850s. Size: about 5 ¾ inches tall and about 4 inches wide at the widest and 5 inches from handle to spout. Condition is great except for a what appears to me as a couple of manufacturing flaws: a few tiny dark spots. Some surface hairlines near the spout that have darkened with age and what looks like a chip on the bottom ridge, except its edges are smooth. To me. That suggests that it happened before it was fired. The hairlines do not extend to the inside of the pitcher. Although one can be seen from the inside because it is darkened and because the wall is delicate and thin. They have obviously been there for quite a while and I would assume they happened during or shortly after the pitcher's firing. While it was cooling. ANTIQUE 1840's ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE & WHITE SPONGEWEAR PITCHER
This lovely. Large pitcher is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines or discoloration. It measures 11 1/2"29.3 cm) in height and is 7 1/2"17.8 cm) in diameter at the widest point. The pitcher is covered down to the bottom with blue sponging. There is a 2"5.1 cm) area of white at the base and on the upper foot of the pitcher. The sponging continues around the rim of the base, the inside rim of the spout, and the entire handle. The handle has a thumb guard, and another 4"10.2 cm) below that. The pitcher appears to be earthenware as you can see this from the unglazed rim on the base. It was covered in a white tin glaze with blue, and then a glossy glaze. There is no Mark on the bottom. This would predate the first registry diamond in 1842. The pitcher shape with the oversized spout and bulbous lower body with ... morea foot was popular in the 1840s. This early pitcher has very defined sponging. The English cut the sponges in a much more fine and detailed manner. This is also called an ewer. When it has this oversized spout. It measures 10" 25.4 cm) in height, 7" 17.8 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) in diameter at the base. The mouth of the pitcher measures 6" 15.3 cm) from spout to handle and is 4 3/4" 12.1 cm) across. The"C" shaped handle is heavily sponged. There are double, overlapping, concentric circles on the inside and outside of the spout. The first row of double circles on the body match the spout, except they are not overlapping. The next two rows are divided by two double rings. The two rows have double, multi-pointed stars, that also do not overlap. The bottom of the pitcher in the book comes down straight and this one has a"pedestal urn" shaped base. This pitcher looks to be Ironstone because the glaze is not interrupted, but if you look at the base rim, there are two areas where the earthenware pottery is showing through. Also, the weight is substantial, but an Ironstone pitcher of this size would be heavier. This pitcher is in great condition, especially considering its age and composition. There is only one thing, and is not technically damage. It has a light beige stain on the bottom that does not come through to the inside surface. Antique White Ironstone Pitcher & Bowl - Niagara Shape - Copper Lustre - c.1856
Offered is a gorgeous. Matching, White Ironstone Bowl& Pitcher in the Niagara Shape. This shape features wonderful embossing below the spout of the pitcher, and a series of fan shapes around the base of the pitcher and inner rim of the bowl. Both are beautifully outlined with copper lustre. They were produced by Edward Walley in Cobridge, England, and registered in November, 1856. Both pieces retain his impressed mark with the shape name. The bowl has a small chip on the underside rim and a tight hairline on the side of the bowl. The pitcher has spider lines on the bottom; one that goes a very short way up from the base. The pitcher also has a couple of pinpoint marks on the body from production. Tall water pitcher standing 12.5" from base to the flower on the handle tip. No major flaws of cracks or chips evident. There's a very small manufacturing flaw under the glaze near the base and one fleck of wood ash on the side. Yes, these beautiful antique pieces were produced with heat from an open wood fire. When held to a strong light, there's evidence of very light minor scratching. Johnson Brothers began manufacturing in 1883 in the Staffordshire district in the Hanley settlement and this would have been one of their earliest patterns as this tall, slim with rounded base style was produced in the 1880s and 1890s. This Henry Alcock& Company England Ironstone 1884 pitcher is in perfect condition. I bought it at an antique auction in Western Massachusetts. It is7" high at the spout. 5" wide on 2 sides, 4" wide on front and back(not including handle) Handle has beautiful detail. No cracks, chips or crazing. Looks as good as it did when it was made. English, Marked October 1, 18_ There is a bubble in the glaze and I cannot read the exact year but this is from a collection of English Pitchers from the early to mid 1800's. The mark on the bottom also says"Published by W. Ridgway& Co, Vanley. The label that is shown is as found from a Maryland antique shop. The piece is glazed inside and out. 9-1/2" tall and 8-3/4" from the outermost part of handle to tip of spout. Wonderful detail. No crazing which is remarkable for the age of this piece. This set consists of a large bowl with a pitcher,a chamber pot,a handled slop bucket with a lid,a tumbler,and a soap dish with a lid. This Antique White Ironstone Milk Pitcher is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The pattern is CINQUEFOIL and it was made in ca. 1860. The lustre pattern is in very good condition. Clearly defined. There are two CINQUEFOIL transfer patterns on the pitcher; both are shown in the photographs. The pitcher is 6 5/8" tall. Which put them during the"Aesthetic Movement" of 1860-1900. The pitcher measures 12 1/2" tall to the spout. Pattern is brown transfer. Very pretty English porcelain pitcher in lovely condition. Brown floral design on white. May be what is known as transfer ware. There are a couple of tiny glaze pops on the body about 4" below the spout.barely noticeabl e. I don't see any cracks or feel any chips. On the bottom of the pitcher is a rather blurry maker's mark that reads"Porcelaine Opaque. Trade Mark" then a blurry coat of arms below which is a word I can't make out, and below that is the word"England" Please refer to the last photo for a view of the entire mark. Antique Blue And White With Floral Pattern Ceramic Pitcher Sevres Ohio
Gorgeous ceramic pitcher made by Sevres of East Liverpool. Ohio with the Melton stamp and fleur di lis mark. This pitcher dates 1900- 1908. Beautiful blue color at the rim, fading to creamy white below with a floral design on the sides and at the mouth and gold edging on the handle and on the rim. It stands 7 1/2" tall x 6 1/2" across mouth to handle. It is in very impressive condition for its age.a little wear to the gold edging and 2 small cracks in the glaze on the inside which do not telegraph through to the outside.very very nice condition. An antique Adams& Sons English white ironstone pitcher in a Gothic shape. Circa 1840. It is in good condition with some minor issues commensurate with age. There is a tiny flake to the inner rim, a short firing split to the inner rim(manufacturing flaw) minor glaze wear to the high relief areas on the handle, and fine discolored glaze lines near the base of the exterior- these do not go through to the interior. Mildly discolored glaze pock mark near the base. Please review the images. It measures 10 inches tall x 7.75" from handle to spout. Shipping within the US will be $13.95

This wonderful antique white Cable and Ring pattern ironstone china teapot is marked on the bottom in black IRONSTONE CHINA. The Royal Coat of Arms, J& G MEAKIN, HANLEY, ENGLAND which was the mark used from 1890-1907. The Cable and Ring pattern was made from 1875-1890. The teapot measures apprx. 10" high 8 1/2" spout to handle. It is in nice used condition for it's age, generalized fine crazing, three tiny tiny glaze flakes around the inside rim of the teapot.
