A large decorative antique plaster head measuring approx 13" x 13" x 6" 33cm x 33cm x 15cm) possibly from an architectural moulding or grand building. It makes a stunning feature or an impressive wall hanging. Its in good condition for its age- I believe it has been painted in matt chalk coloured paint a long time ago and there are a few small areas where this is peeling. But I think this adds to its vintage character, although you could probably strip the paint off if you wanted to get it down to the bare plaster. This is pretty heavy and being plaster. You can collect or I am happy to send it by courier. About 7 of the pieces are fairly small and are what I call paper weight size. The restaurant began Downtown as Anderton's Restaurant and Oyster Bar at 151 Madison in 1945. A second location was added in 1956 as Anderton's East at 1901 Madison. Herbert Anderton. Closed the Downtown location in 1975 and consolidated the business into Anderton's Restaurant. His son later took over the restaurant. The restaurant had chefs who remained for as long as 50 years. Linda Anderton managed the front of the restaurant while her husband oversaw the food. Here is a fascinating antique or vintage glass block which was salvaged from somewhere. This is about 7 3/4 inches squared with depth of about 3 7/8 inches. You can see that this has some cement or adhesive or something on the some of the sides. I did gently scrub this is the kitchen sink more to get the dust off. But I would think someone could figure out how to clean this up better if they want. Just for giggles, I will tell you that this did float in the sink so this is apparently sealed up. Maybe someone has a place for this or an arts or crafts person can be creative. I guess I have seen people turn these into lamps or lights. There are some scratches on each side, little wear, but what a fascinating item for someone. I attended an estate sale about 8 years ago in Little Rock. Arkansas. It was the estate of a lady who had been a very successful home decorator in the 1960's and early 70's. We bought the contents of her outside storage building and these were in that storage area. I have held onto them all these years. Trying to figure out what in the world they were. Someone told me yesterday that she believes they are the molds that you would use to press into the plaster or clay. Then when this is dry. this would then create the mold that you would pour the plaster into. I hope that makes sense and I hope that is truly what this is. Anyway. this person said she believes they are vintage. If not antique. But I will leave that for the bidder to determine. The largest one measures about 8" x 6.5" They are made of some sort of galvanized ... moremetal/tin. There are 4 of each design. They are fairly heavy. weighing about 2.5 pounds(all together) Condition is very good. no breaks or holes in the metal. But they do have some remnants of dried plaster(or some kind of dried substance) I have not tried to clean. I am just selling as is. Pair of Vintage exterior fanned pediment architectural salvage
Here are a couple of Vintage fanned pediments that could be used for exterior decor above doors or for any creative idea. They each measure roughly 70" long by 20" tall by 3" thick. They are in decent shape except for a couple of cracks(picture 7) These are easily repaired and then with a couple coats of fresh paint they are gone. The chips are on the back of one of them(pictures 5&6) and should not affect them as your casings. Mouldings and siding will hide them.
