This is a beautiful medal and in great condition. In medieval times people made pilgrimages to Rome and other sites in Italy these medals were made for the pilgrims from around 1600-1700. They are very rare to find with this saint Andrew. The bale is intact. A nice late medieval to Baroque period bronze Medal. Measures just over 1 1/2 inch in length. With bale or loop at the top which is perfect. Intercessio Apoplectico. Latin intercession plea on reverse for vicctims of Apoplexy or Stroke of which Andy is the patron saint. This is made from a bronze brass alloy called bell metal I believe. Heavy and solid in the hand.
