This is a very nice ca. 1720(most likely cast at his beatification or canonisation in 1716) bronze medal depicting St. John Francis Regis the founder of the Confraternity of The Blessed Sacrement. Another famous Jesuit saint of the late middle ages. This medal is an original of the time with a nice almost black patina to the bronze and despite the age the figures still in high relief and defined on the other side is'Regina. The Mother and Child maybe queen of Heaven. With Roma underneath. St. FRAN can be made out on the front. It depicts the saint as an old man with cape and staff and the beard he was known for. A beautiful Art Nouveau cot medal signed by renowned French artist Emile Dropsy(1848– 1923) set in a Bakelite frame with a gilded brass chain for hanging on a cot or cradle. The medal and frame are in excellent condition. And the chain with a hanging ring is all in perfect order. The size of the medal is 3 cm(1.25 ins) across, and the Bakelite frame(diagonally) is 7 cm(2.75 ins) The picture of Our Lady is bronze with a lovely patina. Signed on the right E Dropsy and on the left H.C. Jean-Baptiste Emile Dropsy originally trained in marble sculpture. This rare relic. And medal is 1.5 inches long, and is made of thick bronze. It was touched to the vestments of the image in 1894. The Santo Bambino of Aracoeli sometimes known as Bambino Gesu di Aracoeli(Lit: Holy Jesus of Aracoeli) is a 15th-century Roman Catholic devotional wooden image depicting the Child Jesus Christ in his infancy. The image is a pre-pubescent Jesus wrapped with infant clothing in a standing posture adorned with various gemstones and jewels from its devotees. The image was previously known for being transported in a gilded carriage to visit the sick and the needy. On 18 January 1894. Pope Leo XIII authorized its public devotion and granted a canonical coronation on 2 May 1897. It was once again blessed by Pope Saint John Paul II on 8 January 1984. Medal measures 1.25" in diameter. It appears to be quite old but is not dated. Also. I am not certain if this is copper or bronze. The image shows Mary with infant Jesus, perched or hovering above a little brick cottage which I believe is sitting atop a cloud, which is being held by 2 cherubs. There seems to be a zeppelin in the sky to the left of the cottage and some other items but I cannot make them out as the medal is well loved and worn in places. It is not perfectly flat either, I see no damage to the edges anywhere that would tell me the piece had been forced or bent between any two hard items, what I mean to say is that I think it may have come out of production this way, can't say for certain though. This is a very nice early 19th century bronze holy medal depicting on one side St. Joseph.And on the other a Gaurdian Angel. This is a nice medal In fine condition see pics. ca.1820 rare medal to find with such a lovely deep Patina. 1 1/4 inch or 30mm.
