Up for bids we offer a beautiful. 19th Century, 2 gallon, stoneware jug in exceptional condition. Right out of an estate, this salt glazed piece has a folksy, cobalt blue floral decoration on the front as well as an underscored number"2" above it. There are no other chips, not even around the spout or the bottom edge. The handle hasn't been broken and there aren't any cracks or hairlines anywhere on the piece. As a little bonus, we'll include the very nice, hand-carved wooden ... morestopper it was found with. Mid 19th Century Dudson Jasper ware Jug - Pewter LId
Mid 19th Century Dudson Pewter lidded Jasper Ware glazed Jug that features Three Muses in relief. The Pewter lid has a finial with a feather design at its base that curls up to the top. The lid is heart shaped. Whose edges are gently sloped into the center. This creates a raised heart shaped center area that has a raised ridge that continues to the lip edge. The upper most edge of the jug is trimmed with pewter, which guaranteed that it would not get chipped. The base of of the pale blue glazed jug has an acorn and oak leaf design that encircles the upper part of the jug. Elaborate columns separate the three muses. The handle has a rope design. The pitcher slightly tapers from the top to bottom. This was probably used as a milk pitcher. Measuring approximately 6 1/2" to the top of the finial and 5 1/2" spout to end of the handle. ... moreThe piece is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips or crazing. The bottom carries an impressed marking of"DUDSON ENGLAND and a B U C" I believe that the initials are those of the potter and decorator. The impressed mark was used 1838-1888. Dudson was located on Hope and Hanover Streets in Hanley. Stafforshire. Dudson made Jasper Ware in the Wedgwood style. Dudson Jasper Ware is glazed and does not have a matte finish, which, I have found to be very attractive. If you love antique English pottery. This is a wonderful piece from the Victorian period. I have attempted to be accurate and complete in my description and pictures. Should you have any question. Please email me. Thanks for looking! Your wonderful antique Dudson Jasper Ware Jug will be carefully wrapped and shipped from a smoke free home via USPS.

19th Century Brown Domestic Pottery Jug
Hand-Made Ceramic Jug This is a very old hand'spun' piece of domestic pottery. It's fairly small. About 6" so maybe it was made for cream? There is nothing fancy about it at all. There are some inclusions in the pottery, under the glaze but that is very common with the older, home made pieces. They didn't make them to be pretty-they made them to be functional. Check out the image of the bottom of the pitcher. That's my favorite part about the pitcher! You can see how the color was added. Kind of splashed on! Again, nothing fancy and that's what I love about it. I do not ship to PO boxes and ask that you pay for your item within 3 days of winning the auction. I will send a reminder on the 3rd and if I haven't heard back I relist on the 5th day with no further notice. On breakable items I add a 1.45 charge for ... moreinsurance on domestic shipping. International fee will vary. Please contact me ahead of time if you are an international buyer. I guarantee ALL my items 100% and am glad to refund(or exchange-your choice) your money if my items are not exactly as I have described them. Please keep in mind that you are buying vintage items and you should always expect some kind of wear due to the age of the piece! Florida residents please contact me for an invoice before you purchase so we can add 7% sales tax. Thanks for looking! I put items up almost daily so please check back often.

Antique Liverpool Creamware Jug Pitcher early 19th century pottery naval scene
Antique Liverpool English creamware pottery jug or pitcher in good condition. The jug commemorates a naval battle during the War of 1812 which occurred on October 18th. 1812 during which the English sloop of war Frolic was captured by the American sloop of war Wasp. The front of the jug features black printed designs of the naval battle on the front with the caption: The American Sloop of War Wasp Captures the English Sloop of War Frolic Oct. 18, 1812. The other side of the pitcher has a black printed design entitled Arms of the United States, featuring the American Eagle and underneath the caption Under this we Prosper. Underneath the spout is another black design called Liberty. Please refer to all photos uploaded to Ebay. The jug is just over 6 Inches tall and is 7 ¾ inches wide measuring across from the tip of the spout to the handle ... moreedge. Condition is quite good overall with expected crazing to the clear glaze over the entire jug. And two observable hairline cracks. The first hairline crack is near the upper rim next to the handle. The hairline crack is about one inch long and is shown in my photos. The second hairline crack is inside the pitcher and I was not able to get a good photograph of it. It does not penetrate to the outside of the jug, and is about 1 ½ inches long in a Y shape. There is a tiny black spot near the tip of the spout. The bottom rim shows expected roughness or moderate wear from the passage of years. The base of the pitcher is 3 ¾ Inches across. The base of the pitcher in my photo has somewhat of a tan shadow but that is due to my photo, it is not shadowed or stained, it is a relatively even creamy color, I am not a trained photographer and don't understand why it showed up with this shadow, perhaps the lighting was not even. This antique jug is approximately two hundred years old and would make a lovely display for collectors interested in naval history or in antique British ceramics. Especially those made for the American market. I have made my best effort to descri

Antique 19th Century 1 Quart Size Clay STONEWARE JUG Moonshine or WHISKEY Crock
This is an"oldie" Just purchased from an estate sale and have not done a thing to it as far as any cleaning. Looks like the original cork(or what is left of it) is still in there. I think this is a quart size jug. Measures almost 7" high. The base diameter is just over 4-1/4" The label is a mystery and looks to depict a hunting scene. It could easily be peeled off. I do not know if there is something written/embossed/stamped underneath. The label picture may have been added later on. Overall the condition is"good" for it's age which is estimated circa 1890-1910. There are dings/chips here and there. Please view all photos carefully for a good indication of condition. I will leave any cleaning to the buyer. Posted with 2p5ddv.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%601d72f%2B26rk%3E2p5ddv-146e3eb67a3-0x111-

Antique BROWN STONEWARE BATTER JUG - 19TH CENTURY
19th cent. brown stoneware spouted batter jug w/ bail handle& handle on base for tipping(10" t x 6 1/8" in bottom diameter) It weighs about 5 1/2 pounds. The"chipped" ear is covered with brown glaze. Suggesting this is not a chip, but the way the piece came out of the kiln. Regardless, still very nice. Inside the jug was a piece of paper that reads"Pap John Schmutzer/ Brown Batter Jug" I assume this is not the prior owner. But more likely the potter, however I cannot be sure. Postage includes parcel select rate. Insurance up to $100 value and $3.00 handling. Salt Glaze Ovoid Crock or Jug, New York, 19th Century Signed Lyons
I am so pleased to offer this wonderful antique ovoid stoneware jar or crock. Finished in a Salt Glaze finish. This crock is in great condition with no cracks or repairs. The applied handle is perfect, which is a rarity for a crock jug of this age. There is one small chip about 1 inch in diameter at the base line. The measurements of this jug are 12 inches tall, 6.75 inches diameter across the base, and circumference around the widest part at the middle is 25.5 inches. The glaze is in perfect condition with firing imperfections. There are some variations in the gray color due to the high mineral content in the soil that occurred during the firing process. This color variation is a rusty shade at the base of this crock. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy, translucent and slightly orange-peel-like texture which was formed ... moreby throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. Sodium from the salt reacts with silica in the clay body to form a glassy coating of sodium silicate. This crock has a classic ovoid shape and a terrific eye catching look. The term ovoid is used in a broader sense which refers to the shape of an egg. The 3-dimensional version of an oval is called an ovoid. Purchased from an old New York estate. This jug is signed"Lyons" Lyons, New York was a very large stoneware producing area of New York. Many noted and prominent potters are from this area. Lyon's pottery production started around 1822, in a location where the new Erie Canal was to open. The business flourished after the Erie Canal opened with canal boats used to bring in clay from NJ and Long Island and Albany. These boats also delivered finished wares all along the canal. If you are a crock or stoneware collector, this jug will be a great addition to your collection. I do apologize for the cost of postage, this jug is heavy.
