Antique Victorian Vintage Oak Fluted Tapered Columns 22-1/4"H x 5"D Pair
This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. This bronze fluted column stands 17 inches tall with wood base.By itself it stands 15 1/4 inches tall has a diameter of 3 5/8. I have no idea what it comes from but from the patina you can see it spent it's time outside probably in the garden. It weighs approximately 15 pounds. Great pair of fluted columns and pilasters with Corinthian capitols from a New York mansion built at the end of the 19th century. The columns are made of wood and the capitols are made of plaster. All have white paint with some paint chipping. The columns and capitols measure 134" tall with the capitols on. The columns and pilasters are 118" tall and the capitols are 16" tall. selling a wonderful pair of large architectural columns. These are a wonderful example of craftsmanship, very ornate and decorative, as found condition, the bases are both loose from the column itself, and on of the bases needs to be re-glued back together, slightly tapered at the top and fluted for the bottom portion, the one base does have a split starting at the base, some age cracks on the wood from age, complete some scuffs and scratches wear as you would expect with age and use, great as is or wonderful if you just freshened with some poly, these are large and measure 92 1/8" high the column itself, and it measures 10 1/4" wide at the base and slightly tapers to roughly 8 1/2"9" at the top, the base plates itself measure 12" wide and 1 3/4" high, the top of the columns measure 12" by 12" hallow ... morepole, does show signs of wear and age, highly decorative, great pair of poles just under 8' because of the size this will be listed as a pick up only but we will assist you in with anything we can

Omg. Back from meeting with my favorite Detroit antique picker. I have the best old salvaged antique column. The base is wood, top capital gesso or a cement/ plaster material. On top of the column is a very ornate capital topper. I love the fact that this fluted column is squared. This piece reminders me of a column on the tv show Vanderpump rules on bravo. Salvage like this is really hard to find. The piece has a very chippy white patina. It measures: a little shy of 61" tall. The base is around 9 1/2" on each side. 2 Antique 63" Cast Iron Square Fluted Industrial Architectural Columns Philadelp
Incredible pair of antique cast iron industrial square fluted columns. Each column measures over 5' tall(63" 12" square at the base, and 10" at the top. Deep fluting on each side, great honest patina. One has more paint left on it than the other. I'm sure these must date to before the turn of the century, as they must weigh upwards of 3 to 4 hundred pounds each. I'm told these came from a major salvage job some years ago in Philadelphia, PA. Very minimal amount of casting flaws. No cracks or breaks. A few very small chips or flaws, but nothing to speak of. This pair of columns would look incredible as is in an outdoor space or blasted and refinished for a really dramatic touch to any room. Don't miss out on this large, unique pair. Prefer local pickup in the NYC area but willing to freight, as well.

Set of SEVEN(7) salvaged fluted TAPERED greek revival style porch post COLUMNS. Circa 1880-1890 vintage- salvaged in central NY state. Four of these posts have a small fluted cap- three have NO cap- THERE ARE NO BASE or plinths with this lot. Posts are hollow. But constructed with heavy, old thick dimensional lumber. Old worn. White, dry paint surface. Four posts are 104" high- they taper from 10-12.25" diameter. These four have a capital that is 11.75" diameter. The remain three columns also taper from 10-12.25" diameter. They measure 100" tall/high. They are in generally good to very good condition- They are structural and could be re-used on a new or restoration porch project. You are offered this 2 piece set of metal column surrounds for a fluted column. These go around the top and/ or bottom of the column. They are 9 1/4“ for diameter. Made of aluminum. These are sturdy, lightweight. One has screw holes, the other does not. You can drill a hole in it easily. These attach to the columns to give them a finished look. These are 12 by 12“ square.
