The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware adorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. A very finely made antique. Circa 1810, Federal, or Sheraton, flame mahogany veneered and solid mahogany secretary desk over chest of drawers. Two piece construction. The top section has two narrow drawers over two doors that open to two cubbyholes each with slots and two narrow drawers. Below is the chest, the top with a pull forward mahogany writing frame and original green felt. Below are four graduated drawers. It retains all the original brass knobs, locks, and brass escutcheons. The case is on four turned mahogany legs, solid mahogany case boards. It measures 56" tall by 41-1/2" wide by 20-1/2" deep, the writing frame 38" by 13" the felt surface 34" by 11-1/2" Very good plus condition: original finish, attractive butterflying of the flame veneers. 53560 ANTIQUE 1830s FLAME MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS W CARVED CLAW FEET & PILLARS
A very fine antique. Circa 1830's, Empire style solid and flame veneered mahogany tall chest of drawers. There are two bowed drawers over five graduated drawers. All retain their locks, five brass key holes(two brass missing) and twelve original brass bail pulls. The case is on front carved claw feet supporting tapered full found pillars having flame mahogany veneer, with carved capitols, and squared carved rosettes above. The drawer fronts are butterflied flame mahogany veneers, the drawer interiors in maple. The drawer undersides are chamfered. The solid mahogany case sides have recessed mahogany panels. Chest measures 58-1/4" tall by 45" wide by 24" deep. Excellent condition: original finish, some chipping to claw feet, minor veneer chips at top edge of two long drawers. Top two boards without cracks or ring spots.

Antique English Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers 19th Century
Antique English bow front regency chest of drawers with matched cross cut mahogany front. Pencil molding with turned mahogany pulls centered with etched mother of pearl inlay. The two over three dovetailed drawers rests on turned legs and a scalloped skirt. Dimensions are 47" in width, 20 1/4" in depth and 45" tall. This piece has a beautiful wood grain. Deep patina and original finish. The chest has appropriate signs of wear, some pencil molding is missing on the side of two of the drawers, some chipped veneer, and one of the pulls is missing the lower part of its turning. The chest has one full width drawer at the top. Two half-width drawers on the left are paired with a large compartment on the right, possibly originally intended for a chamber pot. The drawer pulls appear to be replacements, although the pull for the compartment, plus lock and escutcheon appear to be original. The Chest of Drawers measures 30 inches high. 40-3/4 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. There is a piece of thick glass that has been added, covering the top of the Chest. Wheels have been added to the feet, making the Chest a bit easier to move around. Dovetail joints are found on the Drawers. Antique Child's 19th C. Primitive Mahogany Chest of Drawers-Folk Art- AAFA
Read all of this and look at all the photos. This little mahogany childs chest of drawers came out of a Boulder estate last week. All original. Nothing altered little chest is 10 1/16" back to front and 13 1/8" side to side, and 13 1/2" high, with the back splash 2 1/2" The alligator finish is irregular and has a water stain on the top. I didn't want to mess with it. This little gem looks like 1850 period and east coast origin. We do see things in Boulder from early Pennsylvania. Certainly no later than 1870. It has many hand cut small nails that have bled into the wood. The four drawers have been painted pink inside at a later period and measure app. 8 x 11 x 2 1/2. The lower left front rail is partially missing and the right back rail is missing. There is an old crack on the top. They really do not distract from ... morethe piece. The sides are slightly curved. The secondary wood is pine. Again. This is a wonderful little chest in unrestored condition that was likely made on a farm on the east coast 150 years ago. A very beautiful antique. Circa 1820, late Federal mahogany bow front gentleman's chest of drawers. The solid mahogany front corner posts legs are fluted and spooled, brass knobs on top drawers, four graduated drawers with original American spread eagle oval brass pulls. The stripped mahogany veneer drawer fronts have string inlay. Nice serpentine skirt around. Pine secondary woods. It measures 46-1/2" tall by 43" wide by 20-3/4" deep. Very good condition: original finish, some finish wear spots on top surfaces. Both side panels with shrinkage cracks, front left foot with crack glue repairs. Includes the key, brass keyholes, and all locks(oddly the lowest drawer never had a lock.

The mold around the top has been repaired on all sides. There is also a strong repair on the front right foot. You will find some separation marks in the darker spots on both sides and along the front moulding. There are signs of character building wear on the entire piece and the top has a number of light marks and stains. The pictures are a great representation of the condition. Legend goes that this was designed a long time ago(you can find them nowadays coming out of Germany. Belgium and Denmark) This particular dresser represented the workers seven days of the week and he had the respective clothes with Sunday being the most special day, so it held the most clothes. They were never made with handles and the drawers are opened with the use of a key. Some people argue that the white escutcheon it is a plastic composite and other say it is celluloid. I just say it is very nice to keep it original. This particular chest dates from the 1850s era and is in wonderful condition. It comes with a large original key and all the locks appear to lock, ... morebut we never guarantee our locks to work as they always have to be peeled apart, oiled and maintained as they are very fussy. The chest itself is breathtaking. Look at the selection of the flame mahogany that adorns the face of the hand cut dove tail drawers! The simplicity of no handles is a very stylish move. It has a clamshell molded top and ends with a bun foot that shows signs of the old European wood borers that used to burrow into the wood and they are all gone, but does show signs. It is all good and bug free! The only thing I can see wrong with it is that there was a little chip on the right hand side that the warehouse has professionally repaired and I can’t even see it in the photos. It is all original with even the original chamfered back. It comes apart on top to the second drawer of the base if you want to make it a little shorter for shipping.
