Nice example of currency from Biblical times. This is an Israelite Period(Iron Age c. 8th century BC) bronze bracelet-shaped currency ingot. 7.5 cm diameter and weighs 80.9 grams. These are often mistakenly believed to be bracelets, an idea which is quickly dissuaded by inability to slip in even a small hand, combined with the heavy weight. Reference: Ancient Scale Weights and Pre-Coinage Currency 4. This is a variety with a bulging center and narrow ends. Found in the same context as the more uniform width type. It features an angel facing right, and holding a staff with loop& cross. Antique Wild Flowers Holy Land Jerusalem Ferdinand Vester Lutheran Missionary
This ornate book of pressed flowers from the Holy Land. Entitled"Wild Flowers of the Holy Land, was likely produced around the turn of the 20th century. Each page features an actual pressed flower. The flowers come from from various sites in what was then Palestine, and each flower is labelled with the site it came from. The book's cover panels are made of olive wood. The book lists as its author Ferdinand Vester. From what I have been able to ascertain by researching this person. He appears to have been a Lutheran missionary from Germany who was active in Palestine in the late 19th century and into the early part of the 20th century. His son, Frederick Vester, married into the family of a printer in 1905, which may date the book to that general period, but I have been unable to find any specific record of either Vester or any associated ... moreprinter producing this book, aside from him being listed as the author on the book's title page. I did however find which lists Frederick Vester as its author. Which this source estimates as dating to the 1920s. It is plausible to think that because Ferdinand Vester, Frederick's father, is the one here listed as the author, therefore the book is older than the one shown at my source, but it is also possible they were produced around the same time. The book is in excellent condition. With its binding fully intact and no loose pages. All of the pressed flowers have an attached wax paper covering which protects them from damage. The pot having a bulbous shape, suspension loop handles on each side, narrowing to a flared rim spout.
